Came here for our first time after being at DLP. My dh ordered the charcuterie board and the appetizer was an asparagus soup. i had a piece of all the meats he had and couple spoons id the soup. It was so delicious and quality was top notch. i had the real crab salad with mayo, wasabi and half of an amazing decent sized avocado.It was so yummy with the free bread. Service was great also. Our servers were attentive and pleasant too. It was like an outside small local restaurant. Eating outside was nice because the weather was so nice for a late May evening at the beginning of the supper service. Simple place and seems to be one enjoyed by locals so we know this is good. read more

We liked this restaurant so much that we returned again a second time once our son was in town, so he could try the razor clams ("couteaux")! The magret de canard was excellent, as were the cassoulet and the pork loin with polenta. On our second visit, we saved room for dessert and the "chocolat mi-cuit" was excellent as well -- a sort of chocolate lava cake that is more lava than cake. Enough for three. The host is very welcoming. We would go back if we had more time in Paris! read more

We had an amazing dinner here! For starters we had pigs ears - the portion was huge, could easily be a main! It was just finger-licking delicious. The main course was equally great - I just don't have the words to describe the sophistication and flavour of the meal! If I was local, I would have probably lived there!! Good meal in a nice Paris cafe ... corner spot across from elevated. Yes . X I took the chance and had the pigs ears. Kind of like calamari with a lot more pieces of tougher cartilage mixed in. Oh my god! This restaurant is a hidden gem. Well not so hidden when they are packed with regular locals on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. I said hidden because I just randomly walked into this restaurant for some lunch. But the location is actually pretty nice. It's not that far from Tour Eiffel. Their mackerel is heavenly! Best mackerel I've ever had. Very few ingredients but perfected the tastes of the fish. Surprisingly good! Very good olive oil they use as well. I had a berry tarte for dessert. It was amazing! It's not too sweet! Their owner is very nice and speaks really good English. He actually explained to me the menu each dish by dish since I don't speak French. I was invited here for dinner with my Parisian uncle who lives in 15eme--otherwise, there was no way I would have known about this place. Still, if you're a tourist looking for good food in Paris, this place is very close to Pont Bir-Hakeim (as seen in Inception, apparently), so it's not entirely out of the way. They don't have an English menu, which I think is at least partially a result of the fact that they change their menu monthly, and it would be too much work to make 2 menus at the start of each month. Given my total lack of knowledge of French, this was kind of problematic, but hey, a nice patron nearby recommended the pork belly to me, and our server kindly gave me the wi-fi password so that I could use Google Translate. We ordered the charcuterie, pate, salad, pork belly, and some rose. The charcuterie had a nice variety of meats, and though I'm not a pate fan, my companions really enjoyed it. The salad to me looked pretty plain, but my cousin who ordered it said it was good. My pork belly plate was pretty good, though I guess I wish there had been a bit more flavor and variation in texture; the beans could have been better as well, but overall, I did still enjoy it. Finally, the rose (can't remember the specifics) was REALLY, REALLY strong but still pretty tasty. Definitely one of the better meals I had in Paris! read more

Fabulous little place, always packed and for good reason. The menu is as limited as the seating. That wasn't a problem. We had a bottle of white wine from the Jurancon region of France, which was new to us but very good. We both made the same menu choices. The starter was their house pate terrine, rich and full of flavor as could be. For mains we had their lomo haricots blancs cuisine - pork and beans! It was a shallow bowl of beans, with two nice big (but thin) slices of pork tenderloin laid across the top, and a delicious light coating of a tangy cheese. Awesome. Chocolate tarts for dessert. The place was completely full on a Sunday night. They do not take reservations, so we arrived about 7:30 and slipped in before the crowd. Service was prompt and efficient, paced to a small restaurant with a limited menu. We just relaxed and let it flow, and it did. If you want to experience a French bistro, it can't get any better than this. read more

Food is excellent. Let's get that outta the way first. If you're coming here as an expat with minimal language skills, good luck. My wife and I went, and even with my fairly fluent French, we accidentally fell afoul of their somewhat unusual rules: Customers are jammed in together at long tables next to other parties. There is no menu, but rather a large blackboard with classical French cursive (somewhat difficult to decode with American eyes). You are expected to share communal salt/pepper/olive oil dispensers with your fellow table mates, but NOT (mon dieu!) the baskets of bread that are scattered about. Understanding that breaking any of these rules will earn you a typically haughty French tut-tut, the service is nonetheless fast and reasonably attentive. For the meal, we had caviar d'aubergine (pureed eggplant) and terrine de pâté as our apps, which my wife and I both loved greatly. The entrees were the onglet de boeuf in a red wine sauce, which was unique and yummy, and a shoulder of pork that was out of this world. Price was reasonable: All of the above + sparkling water, one glass of wine, and a dessert for 68 euros. And the conviviality of the seating arrangements meant that we were able to make the acquaintance of the folks next to us. read more

I'm not saying this is the best restaurant in Paris, but the fact that my friend and I came to eat here 4 different times during the 7 days we were in Paris should say something. It's always a good indication to me whenever I'm in a foreign country, and I see a restaurant filled with locals and the menu is only in the native language. That's how I chose this restaurant; even though I had to walk about 5 blocks from my hotel, which was located a stones throw away from the Eiffel Tower. About a little more than half of the staff here speak some level of english. Even the ones that can't speak english are very polite and quite adept at gesturing and describing dishes with their hands. Both my friend and I had escargots for the first time in our lives at this restaurant, and I have to say it was not what I expected. Even though my friend was a little apprehensive at first, she actually ended up eating more of the dish than me. My favorites at this restaurant: Rump Steak in red wine sauce Lamb cooked in vegatables and spices House Brouille (a light red wine) Chocolate ganache in english cream Strawberry rhubarb The prices aren't too bad either. Most of the mains are under 20 euro's and a carafe of house wine is under 10 euro's, while desserts average around 7 euro's. read more

We were bumped to another waiter ( less nervous) but totally unaware of what we request with previous .Bread was cut on nearby board by waiters who just clean the table and didn't bother to wash hands.Even great food got to be served. But the servers were more than accommodating, and even translated much of the menu for us. The food was so authentic and fresh. Odds of seeing a Tuk-Tuk full of naked Frenchmen blasting 80's disco, trying to drive into the restaurant, is extremely high here, and most definitely entertaining! Definite local spot...came here for my bf's birthday. We were looking for a restaurant within the neighborhood that was good. We walked around for 1/2 hr before coming to this restaurant on the corner that was insanely packed, at 10:30 pm. There were tons of other people standing around waiting for a table, and we were the last allowed to wait, everyone else got cut off. We were extremely lucky to have had such a wonderful meal & experience here, as none of the staff spoke a lick of English and our French was abysmal. I have been to this wonderful restaurant 3 times in the last 2 weeks. All three times I have taken friends and now they're taking their friends. A very simple no nonsense menu gets you started. We kicked off the evening with a beautiful rosé from Provence. Delightful! I confess that I've had the onglets all three times I've been. It's steak frites and you slice the steak yourself. More than delicious! Tonight we started with the pâté. Two slabs of pâté and that was an ample portion. The paté has just enough spices and a little bit of heat to keep you reaching for more. Lovely! The wait staff are all warm and easy going. Our waiter tonight remembered me from my last visit. Very welcoming. I will continue to take more friends there. 3 out of 3 ain't bad! Give it a try. This was a wonderful French bistro close to the Seine in a busy part of a relatively quiet neighborhood. I thought the food was classic, simple, but very delicious. I had the salmon fume with warm vegetables and a delicious oil-based dressing. Had I been more hungry I would have tried an appetizer, too. I could see this becoming a regular spot for me. Situated on the corner of a Blvd Grenelle next to metro Dupleix on the line 6 is the Cantine du Troquet. It's an unassuming brasserie styled restaurant with outdoor seating when the weather is nice and chalkboards with the menu of the month and current wine selections. First thing to note with the Cantine Du Troquet is that the menu changes once monthly and the quality and freshness of the food is consistently good. Additionally, unlike most restaurants that serve french brasserie styled food, they are very creative with the dishes and usually have a twist to the normal french main dishes. Prices run a little high but despite this the restaurant is almost always packed. Getting a table usually takes about 5 - 10 minutes, during which time you are invited to wait at the bar and have a drink. I can recommend this place and it is on my list of great food in the neighborhood. Updated 2/18/2016 I've changed the review rating from 4 to 3 stars. Food quality remains high and the servers are still very attentive but they owner has gotten GREEDY. Food prices are getting too expensive and they're charging 9 euros a pint for Heineken - shame on you! read more

We arrived here with high hopes and left here disgusted. My first impression was wow, this is cute. I liked this place and it was near by our hotel. It seemed perfect. It was also recommended to us. Well, I don't know if this place is better known for dinner then lunch, but lets just say don't come here for lunch because the dinner menu and judging by everyone else reviews, it seems better for dinner. Upon arriving, we were greeted and we were told that we could sit where ever we wanted. So we sat inside near the bar. The menu was written on a chalk board that I couldn't read. My French is okay, I know a lot of the basics, but I just couldn't read the chalk board. Cool concept, but I couldn't read the writing. Our server came by and took our order. It was kinda strange because we never got a menu and we ordered from the chalkboard. We also had to order appetizers, which I didn't want, but we didn't have an option. I had deviled eggs and my parents soups. We all ordered a seafood salads. I wasn't a huge fan either. I think they worst part was when the bus boy started sweeping the ground by our table. We were so pissed! I mean if you think about it, when you sweep the ground, any dust, hair, etc rises! So essentially we had dust in our food. Pretty gross. I just couldn't understand why he couldn't wait until we were gone. Anyways, won't be going back and don't recommend coming here for a late lunch either! read more

The waiter who served us was polite and helpful as he translated most of the menu for us without us even asking. Our food was delicious, and I was extremely happy with my soup. Until I saw the tiny hair floating in it. Ughhh ruined my soup. And I normally speak up when stuff like that happens but this time I didn't for two reasons: 1) I didn't want to be the annoying American 2) we were seated outside and the waiter only came around every so often. Our waitress recommended a tasty, hearty Rhone wine, which paired well with both dishes, especially the duck. We thoroughly enjoyed both dishes, although being from California, while we agreed they were a nice change, we wouldn't normally eat such rich food on a daily basis. We tried the plumcot pastry dessert topped with fresh whipped cream, which was also very nice. Our Colombian waitress was attentive, very helpful, and friendly. This is real fork-and-knife French gourmet. Just stumbled over this place and we're glad we did. Friendly owners, great service from the wait staff, and the food was excellent. I had a wild boar stew with root vegetables and my wife had the scallops, after we shared an deliciously sauced escargot appetizer and the house special chocolate mousse for dessert. We left glowing from our meal for an evening ascent up the Eiffel Tower, which is a short walk away. read more

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I should have heeded the reviews that said the staff was rude. The waitress who claimed to be the manager was beyond rude. I ordered my steak well done and it came out still bleeding. Not a big deal. I asked to have it cooked more only for it to be brought out seared just a bit more. Ok fine. The waiter who took my plate also took my utensils. I wave the waitress down because by this point I am sitting there for 5 minutes waiting for utensils to eat my food. She had a freaking attitude and gets irritated because i waved her down. She comes to my table and has an all out shouting match! Unbelievable! At this point I have them take away the food and paid for what my water and left. I am utterly disgusted do certainly will not come back to this place nor will I recommend it. First night in Paris and I wanted to eat my very first authentic French meal. Read good Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. The gentleman that helped was very helpful. (Didn't get his name, He might be the manager). He translated and explained everything on the menu. Sadly they didn't have a fixed price menu. At first I was reluctant, i wasn't familiar with anything on the menu and was contemplating on getting up and leaving. I was so glad I stayed. Ordered the eggplant (appetizer of the day) and razor clams. Then Duck and Steak. The steak was rare; however, it wasn't bloody like in US steakhouses. The food was absolutely amazing. I just love this place. It's a really nice find around La Motte Piquet Grenelle which is overwhelmed with meadiocre restaurants. The menu is small yet perfectly chosen. I just love the coteaux, if your feeling adventurous try the shredded pigs' ears/razor clams. The steak is always the right side of pink and the fries are to die for. There's a small wine list, and the staff are always happy to advise. read more
