This has been my husbands favorite place to eat for some time (work lunches) and since he introduced me to it, I'm on board!! We are foodies and over 55 which means we would rather eat at home that have an underwhelming experience. This place has never disappointed. The tacos are fabulous. We've had pretty much all of them. The chicken Al carbòn is a top pick for us and I love the blackened shrimp. The slaw on the shrimp taco is fabulous. I also like the chicken verde and crispy carnitas. The chicken verde enchilada is delicious too! The ingredients all are so fresh and it's evident it's all made in house. Our service has always been friendly and fast. I cannot fathom the complaints people make in their reviews. Is there a wait? I want a place that is so good that people are waiting to get a table. The portions are small? Hello. They are street taco size. Doesn't taste like Mexican? It isn't. It's Tex-mex. It's loud? Choose another place. Every restaurant has a different vibe. To each his own. Every garbage can has its lid. We ordered the trio and the chips came out covered in oil, the oil dripping off of the chips. when requesting other chips we were told this is how we serve them and no accommodating. Hostess who was assisting serving was rude and waitress was not very polite. We've been to this restaurant several times and this was not the norm. Whole menu is a la carte, which wasn't my favorite thing but that's how they're rolling. Our server was Mo, who was great! I ordered the ribeye steak taco, fish taco and chorizo taco. I'm a fan of authentic street tacos so I got mine on the corn tortillas. All three were good but my favorite was the chorizo! The fish taco was good but the slaw didn't have a lot of flavor to it. Ribeye was tender. All three had enough meat that I was ok not having the Mexican rice as I'm accustomed to from other local Tex Mex spots. And if you're looking for good guacamole, get theirs! Would NOT recommend! My hubby grabbed takeout from here. Don't bother calling because nobody's going to answer the phone and the automatic service is just gonna turn off your phone call. The automatic service tells you their hours and how to place a takeout order and how they don't accept reservations and if you have any inquiries, you have to email them. Now let's get into this terrible food that isn't worth $70!!! 2 Quesabirria tacos $6pc (the meat, lacked seasoning, and birria jus as well.) 2 Al Pastor tacos $4pc (was the only thing flavorful. It was just missing the pineapples that supposed to come with it.) 2 Chorizo tacos $4pc (it was extremely dry and didn't have any flavor/seasoning to it.) Single Steak fajitas $18 add on shrimp $18 more (which we only were given three pieces.) This one just blew me! Because you see the amount of fajita and shrimp we received that cost almost $40! It also came with a little BS side of cheese, sour cream, lettuce, and pepper/tomatoes along with three flour tortillas. The fajitas lacked any flavor and at this point it just taste like I was just eating cardboard with the exception of the Pastor tacos. With all this being said, I would not recommend eating there. Just go to your local Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant. It's unfortunate that this concept is just not it for Alex but all his other concepts are great! read more

This is the new place to have a great meal! The food is delicious, flavorful, and fresh. I could honestly eat here every day. The service is wonderful, even during a busy rush, I felt tended to. The music is awesome, the noise level can get a little loud, but I'd rather have that than a quiet, stiff restaurant. You can go wrong here, anything you order will be great! Arrived to the host station on Friday June 26th to inform the hostess that inside a/c seating is requested. Waited 45 minutes to be called for our table only to be outside under the mist. She says "My bad" I put you all down for first available and I advised that isn't what I asked for. She then she well it will be another 20 or 30 minute way. I asked for the manager and he arrived before she even moved to go find him. This manager was so disrespectful in the manner he spoke to a group of women. Totally uncalled for while attempting to say your employee admitted her fault but another 30 minute wait in her error was unnecessary. He says "you all can't stand here" mind you we were at the hostess station as where we were called to. His tone was demeaning,sharp and aggressive. He says "I can't make anybody just get up and leave with a gruff." I saw the disgust and the annoyance with his presence before he stormed off. I turned to the other to ladies to say I'd rather leave as we aren't welcomed here. As a woman I have never experienced any type of treatment like this from a restaurant in Highland Village nor a manager. Do better or you will be another restaurant that will bite the dust in Jackson. I will not be back nor will suggest this establishment. read more

Checked out La Presa for the first time tonight, and while the space and menu have a lot of flash, the food itself landed more in average territory for me. The standout, honestly, was the chips and salsa. The chips are thin, crispy, and clearly fresh, and the salsas (green and red) are house-made, with the red salsa served warm -- which I really liked. They're $3 (not complimentary), but this was the most enjoyable part of the meal. Everything else was more hit-or-miss. The redfish taco was severely overcooked, which was disappointing. I do appreciate that there are vegetarian options, but the cauliflower tacos lacked flavor and substance -- they felt a bit underdeveloped. The tuna tostada was decent and fairly priced at $10 given the amount of fresh tuna, but again, nothing that really stood out. Service was attentive overall, though a bit disjointed and rushed. I ordered a margarita early on, but the bar was backed up and it didn't arrive until after both appetizers and entrées were already on the table. My biggest issue -- and this may not be an issue for others -- was the noise level. Even at 6pm on a weeknight, it was extremely loud to the point that it was hard to hear the person sitting across from me. On top of that, they play 50 Cent's "In Da Club" at full volume for birthdays (3 times in the span of 1 hour) while staff dance through the room with a sparkler. Some people will love that energy, but for me it was overstimulating. That said, I'd be willing to come back and try a few more things. It seems like it could be a decent lunch option if you're already shopping in Highland Village. For Jackson natives, the vibe is very reminiscent of Babalu before it closed -- flashy, energetic, and scene-forward. Not a bad experience, just not one that fully delivered yet. read more

The food is merely OK. The servings are small, and there is nothing special about the food. I've been to Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras, Mexico many times. The cheapest street food in Mexico or Guatemala is far, far better than the food here. The food in Mexico and Central America in good (not great) restaurants is better by magnitudes of orders. Had a girls birthday lunch here on a Thursday. Wasn't overly crowded. Had a little miscommunication right at first where the hostess brought us to a table that wasn't clean and told us to wait there until someone cleaned it. We were awkwardly standing and waiting and the lady who was cleaning the tables chastised us for being at the table and informed us that we couldn't just come to a table, we had to wait at the hostess stand. We explained that the hostess brought us there and she rolled her eyes and wiped off the table. No apology or anything. From then on though the service was stellar. The food was fresh and delicious.
