    Torta de carne asada

I tried a Torta of Asada, one of the best tortas I have eat so far in a while, fast service, friendly staff, tasty meat and fresh vegetables inside.

    high quality meats

Well known business/staple in the Pilsen community, for many years. Has been recognized by WTTW "Foods of Chicago". Great spot to pick up Menudo, Carnitas, Birria, Barbacoa on Saturdays/Sunday (early arrival suggested)!!

Small selection of produce, canned stuff and a deli in the back. Decent beer selection and good liquor selection.

My in laws were excited as well but as we were chatting we saw people getting their food first before us. Then as we started to look more concerned the busser is the only employee who checked in with us. We finally got our drinks because of him. Waiter was nowhere to be seen. As waiter came to the table we received dirty napkins and spoons. When food finally arrived, it was cold so we had to wait a couple more minutes. Just my worst experience for my first time here. My burrito LITERALLY didn't have meat Also! The owner was a table behind us and I bet he was hearing us talk shit about this place and didn't say nothing. He was giving the VIP service to his buddies and the buddies were selling perfumes. He kept spraying cologne and perfume while customers were eating. I was eating at a Macys. HORRIBLE!!!

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. Darius wasn't lying, the spicy wings were next level. The best grocery store chicken I've ever had. Boomin the Publix fried chicken. Shoutout to the Darius' and Damariea's of the world. Good people. There's always ample parking that's free and there is a large variety of choices of foods as well as non-food items. The prices are a little bit higher, but it's convenient because they are everywhere. And they are really good sales sometimes where you can get mushrooms for one dollar, strawberries for one dollar, blueberries for one dollar, and even tofu for $1 which was just on 3/9/25. On the app, you can get a free item almost every weekend, but you just have to clip it as well as the digital coupons. Just make sure all the prices get scanned properly when you look at your receipt and they will adjust it right away if there is ever a technical error. Overall, having a Jewel Osco in Chicago makes life easier for me because of the sales as well as finding one everywhere.
