Some didn't speak English, but used their phones to translate. Very cool!!! Fresh towels and wash cloths daily. Thought we had a problem with microwave and someone came immediately with a replacement. Turned out to be operator error, Lol. Kindly helped us. Continental breakfasts were Amazing!!! Each day held a variety of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereal, beverages, muffins and breads. Scrambled eggs or omelets sized proportionately, sausage or biscuits and gravy, waffles, pancakes, a variety of toppings. My favorite...Strong coffee, Full strength! Thank you, Sharlene, for providing such delicious food and conversation!!! Also offered decaf, hot water for packets of oatmeal, hot chocolate or tea. This hotel in Boone NC was wonderful. It was clean, the rooms were spacious and they had free full breakfast, that sadly we did not try. The hotel has the ambiance of a quaint country inn and staff is terrific. It also had a nice outdoor area complete with picnic tables and BBQ and a doggy park. Inside, the lobby was spacious and included a nice big fireplace and sofas. I will definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed overnight whilist visiting Boone. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean upon arrival, king bed suite. Only issue with the room was that it only had one cooling unit so it was hard to keep the room cooled at night. Visited the pool & hot tub area, everything appeared to be clean and was relaxing. We stayed at this hotel for two nights in order to explore Boone, NC, and the surrounding area. Loved the sights, but can't recommend this hotel. Noticed an unpleasant smell as we walked in. Room was ready, and we were checked in quickly. Room had a different smell, probably the carpet. The room looked clean, but the bathroom had several issues. The sink faucet was dripping continuously, the toilet seat was very loose, and the shower head was leaking and fell off as we tried to adjust it. Shower head never was right, but the other two issues were fixed by staff as we went to dinner. However, see pictures for terrible condition of the bathroom. Bed, pillows, and bedding were very uncomfortable. We also had a barking dog in a nearby room, barking for a while, at 11:00pm. Free breakfast was very basic. The whole experience was not worth the $500 we paid for two nights (Friday and Saturday) ... more than double what it would have been during the week. read more

We usually stay here when visiting my son at ASU. We have always had a good experience. It is convenient to campus, always clean and employees are friendly. Price is good although it will be more on weekends and particularly if a special event is in town. The indoor pool and hot tub is an added bonus to relax after a long day. We were particularly impressed with the breakfast this morning. It was much better than the typical hotel breakfast. The waffle maker had regular batter and red velvet batter. There were two choices of gluten free bread which I have never seen at a free hotel breakfast. Tater tots were tasty. We will definitely be staying here again. read more

A very fine La Quinta where we stayed three nights to explore the greater Boone area. Location is great, staff is wonderful and they have masterfully worked within the Covid restrictions. We had a single king bed room and since their room designs can accommodate two singles, we had a lot of move-around roominess. Also, since La Quinta is pet-friendly, there is extra space, which we assume is for any animal cages. We had an L-shaped couch. Comfy. No room make-up service, per se, but they offered it if you asked for it. Was basic, like empty trash, replenish coffee maker, towels and basic touch-up. Not a full blown room cleaning and set-up. We had no need for this option. No sit-down breakfast service, but each morning they had fresh coffee and tea service to-go and there were two bagged breakfasts available: Yogurt and a muffin or granola bar and cinnamon bun. Both with a bottle of water. OK, but sure do miss the pre-covid breakfast buffet. We did have an issue with our air/heating. Contacted the front desk and when we returned from dinner there was a very nice note from the maintenance guy, Alex J. "Good evening! I have replaced your thermostat batteries, shut off the fan and set your room temp as instructed by the front desk. Have a great night!!" In my many years of travel I have never received such a note based on my request. How very professional, personal and courteous of La Quinta. Very much appreciated. They said they'd look into it, but they didn't sound serious about this. With so many people looking for mold free accommodations, this type of attitude will not serve them nor customers. read more

The hotel itself is excellent. I stay at La Quintas all over the US and am a Wyndhams member. I was staying at this particular La Quinta for 3-day workshop in Banner Elk, NC, about 20 miles away. My wife and two dogs were with me (and I'm one of the apparent FEW who pick up after my pets). The workshop was ending Sunday at 11:50AM and I needed a late checkout so I could get back from Banner Elk, throw my stuff in the car, gather my wife and pooches, and head back to the Atlanta area. I asked for a late checkout and got an almost automatic "No, I'm sorry" accompanied by a plastic smile. And I then got the standard excuse that they were short staffed and 'couldn't' do it. (And I'm sure that's how they'll respond to this) I wasn't asking for a late checkout because I wanted to sleep in or because it was just convenient; I needed the late checkout so I could complete the full 3-day workshop. I've been on this earth a while, wasn't born yesterday, and have stayed in a lot of hotels when I've needed an occasional late checkout for something like this. I'm always deeply appreciative when, on those rare occasions, I'm met with a smile and, "Sure, we'd be glad to help you." But not in Boone. It was clear this was their "policy" and it was easier to say no than go out of their way to accommodate a guest. Upon hearing their excuse, I again explained why I was asking, and I then asked if a late checkout on one, single, solitary room was really going to upset their entire system, was told yes, that it would. So. I went to Banner Elk that morning, told the workshop committee what happened, apologized for having to leave before it was over, and left to get back in time for the 11:00 AM checkout. I believe leadership begins at the top and trickles down...and I believe customer service and attitude does as well. This place is sadly lacking in both, leadership and attitude! I already know what their response will be when they read this and it will start with "I appreciate your feedback...blah, blah, blah." There is a huge difference between the words "can't" and "won't." It's been my experience that most people (including me) CAN go the extra mile...if we want to. Great place to stay if you're traveling with pets! The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. The room was bigger than I expected and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast options were very good as well. The only downside that we saw was that the pet walk area is pretty small, but that isn't too big of an issue. We'll definitely stay here again. read more

We made reservations through bookings.com. When we got there, the price was higher than we were quoted. This is a bookings.com issue, not the motel. Kayla at the front desk searched and got is a rate lower than the one from bookings.com. She went above and beyond even though the problem was not of her making. The motel is nice. The room was large and well maintained. There was some noise but not any more than typical. They have a good selection of cable channels. The breakfast is Continental, so nothing fancy. Apparently there was a problem with night staff not prepping the dining area so the on duty employee was trying to catch up. She was working as fast as she could but was still pleasant and apologized I can't remember how many times. We were impressed with her professionalism. Parking is adequate and the location is convenient. Overall, this is a good place to stay and the staff is way above average. read more

The room is wonderful and so clean. The housekeeper Kandi kept our room perfect and was very accommodating. I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because The tub makes weird noises when you stand in it. Also it seems behind the tub is leaking into the wall and there is a little bit of mold forming. Not the hotels fault probably nobody's told them. I'll tell them when I leave. Our toilet was broke on the second day but they fixed it right away. The best part they accept dogs. There were dogs of all different sizes. Most dog owners were polite and cleaned up after their dogs. Some not so nice! There's always a hot pot of coffee and cold lemon water available at all times. The best part of this hotel is that it is pet friendly and the staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive. However during Halloween weekend it was extremely over priced. Bathroom had water issues behind the wall which is a mold and mildew hazard. This hotel is amazing. We came from a bad situation at the Hickory La Quinta and experienced a wonderful stay here in Boone (we should have just come straight here in the first place...we learned our lesson). Alisha helped reserve our room and was kind and patient throughout the entire process. She made all of the stress we just dealt with melt away and we felt like we were where we were meant to be all along. From the minute we checked in to the minute we left we felt comfortable and calm. Our dogs also had a MUCH better experience at this hotel and they were calm as well. If you are wondering where to stay between the La Quinta in Boone or Hickory - STAY HERE!! Close to everything-- practically right on king street although you do have to drive there unless you want to cross a really busy road-- we brought our 2 dogs, and the whole hotel is pet friendly which is really nice. Sometimes with pet friendly hotels, there are only select rooms that are pet friendly and I always feel awkward about my dog being too loud, but that wasn't the case here-- practically every room we walked by in the hallway had a dog barking! However, once in the room, everything was very sound proof which was impressive. There was a nice breakfast from 6-10 each morning and the staff was super friendly and helpful-- I would definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed here last weekend for a girls ski week. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean. The temperpedic beds were heavenly. There's a pool (a little small) and a heated tub as well. Perfect to sooth the aches after falling down the mountain a few times. Breakfast is offered. The only downfall to the breakfast was there was no protein offered. Our weekend rate was very affordable as we booked through app ski for there special rate. All in all we had no complaints. The only thing I'd suggest is that they adopt a uniform for their housekeepers as I was mistaken for one. Considering I had on pajama pants and bedroom slippers, I'm not really sure how. I've stayed here a few times since graduating from ASU and it's been great.. This past weekend we brought our dog for the first time. I love that this is a pet friendly hotel that doesn't reek of animals. Everything is clean and the beds are so comfy! I wish the pet area outside was a little larger or closer to the building for when it rains or snows, but it wasn't too big of a deal. The employees are very friendly and helpful at the front desk. The free breakfast isn't great, but it's fine for me in order to save $$ on going out to eat. I stayed here for two nights a few weeks ago. I was looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to the Hampton at about the same quality, and the La Quinta delivered. The room was nice and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel also has a nice wrap-around porch. Was very optimistic about our stay here, but we were only in town for one night and the next day we were off to cut our own Christmas tree. Staff was very nice, hotel was super clean, cozy, and beds were great. They have a small but indoor pool, and a good continental breakfast (not many warm items though). They also allow pets which was great for our lab. Very convenient location and close to downtown and were all of the stores and shopping are. We just got back from a three day vacation staying at the La Quinta Inn. We had a wonderful time and plan to return in three months and do it all over again. I'm sorry to write this review because we had such a great experience here last year but the service here has gone completely downhill. It started when we checked in at 4:15, mind you check in time is 3:00. We were told that our room was not ready so we waited. Finally, after 45 minutes the room was ready. While waiting I heard the clerk say the exact same thing to several other guests with no explanation as to why rooms were not ready. We booked a King bed with sofa bed, the same as last year which is advertised as a two room suite, and is exactly what we had last stay. We have a toddler son who goes to bed at 8, so having the separate room allows my husband and I to watch something without waking him up. We finally get to our room and it is just one large room. I go down to explain the mixup and the clerk tells me that there must have been a mixup in booking with the system and that unfortunately there are no two room options available. I then ask if we can upgrade to the king suite and pay the difference. Again, I'm told that there aren't any rooms available, even though I show her that I can book one on the La Quinta website right then and there. She doesn't have an answer for me so I just give up at this point because we've now been waiting to get into our room for an hour and a half. Tonight, I go to pull out the sofa bed to find there are no sheets and nobody answers when I call housekeeping. Have to go down to the front desk again to get sheets and make the bed myself. I'm sorry, but this is NOT how you run a hotel! *Edit** This morning I spoke to another young lady, Shae, who was extremely helpful. Once I showed her that the pictures on both hotels.com and the La Quinta sites showed the room we booked as a two room suite, she switched us right away. She explained that there was an error with the picture but since that's the hotel's fault she put us in the correct room, no questions asked. Thank you Shae for helping us figure out a solution to the problem- she is an example of outstanding customer service! read more

Unfortunately I need to write a scathing review of this hotel. My husband and I needed a weekend away, and this hotel had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. Everything was going well, until we came back from an afternoon out and noticed that our room was clean, but my drawstring jewelry bag was rustled about in my suitcase and had one necklace hanging out and a very sentimental pair of earrings missing. I'm not one to ever immediately place blame on anyone, so my husband and I searched the room high and low and I even began to question whether or not I had brought them until I realized I had a picture of us out the night before with them on me, not to mention that I vividly remember putting them with my necklace on the vanity that night and then into the bag with the drawstring drawn tight the morning after when my husband reminded me to put my valuables away while we were out. The hotel does not provide safes, and they have fought me tooth and nail to try and make me believe their staff would never do this and that I must have lost them. The fact that not only did I have something stolen from me, but every member of their team has belittled me to think this was my fault, including the manager that contacted me ONLY after I wrote a bad review, is appalling. Hotel is showing signs of wear, and "extras" are pretty minimal, but OK for discount mid-week rate. Not worth weekend rate. Hallways were a bit squeaky and noisy, HVAC unit was loud (turns on periodically even when "off"), drawers would not close... it just seemed like an old hotel that had had a facelift, mainly in the lobby. Our room had a water leak in the bathroom, so they moved us to another room. Staff was nice about it. Continental breakfast was very basic, with cheap ingredients. Stop by a grocery store on your way in. We booked through a ski package, and got a great rate for Thursday night, but the price went way up (2.5x) for Friday night. read more
