I received an email a few days later from management asking if I left a TN waterfall book. Yep, it was me. They mailed it to me free of charge!! I highly recommend and will be staying again myself.

I was there over the Fourth of July weekend and out of 10 rooms, there were only 2 others that had occupants for one night each. So if you see it says "this is the last queen room!" That is probably not true. The old check in building has been turned into a community space with a small area to pay for snacks and souvenirs. It is not walkable (not great sidewalks) but easy to drive to places that are. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable and the AC worked well. We appreciated having spectrum television as an option. Also pet friendly for a fee, however there isn't great grass or walking areas around the motel for a pet. Finally I would recommend they add an ice machine or ice cube trays to the rooms. It's in a great location, each to get around and plenty of parking. For a few days, it's perfect!

Each day held a variety of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereal, beverages, muffins and breads. Scrambled eggs or omelets sized proportionately, sausage or biscuits and gravy, waffles, pancakes, a variety of toppings. My favorite...Strong coffee, Full strength! Thank you, Sharlene, for providing such delicious food and conversation!!! Also offered decaf, hot water for packets of oatmeal, hot chocolate or tea. Water, lemonade or flavored water and a separate coffee/hot beverage bar served daily in the lobby, open all hours.

It's also ideally located--just 10 minutes from Blowing Rock with great restaurants, about 20 minutes to Boone, and only 30 minutes from Grandfather Mountain. Found this bed and breakfast online and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. When I picture a bed-and-breakfast in my mind it's always this kind of place. A stately, large old home with lots of interesting history. The mountain laurel inn featured several large suites and some other bedrooms with private baths. The public areas are large and welcoming. We rented the garden shed for a family rendevous and couldn't have asked for more. I've heard they use the main house as a bed & breakfast when it's not being renovated and I hope that's true. I'd love to come back with the whole family one day. (The shed sleeps 6) Ward Manor has everything. Land, water, incredible views, cats, dog, donkey, and cattle. On the weekend we were there, there was even a bonfire. My SIL and grandson went fishing. We all took lots of hikes. We might have given the donkey too many carrots, but he swears it was ok!! My favorite thing to do was drink my coffee each morning by the pond and watch the fog lift from the surrounding mountains. Absolute heaven. It was everything we wanted it to be. The cottages are situated on 3 acres in town, with the trail in the front yard and the river in the backyard.
