Despite being under new management and undergoing repairs, the property remains dreadful. By now they could have actually cleaned the rooms and sheets and commenced greatly needed small changes to make this place habitable and AT hiker friendly. Unless they do a complete renovation of all rooms, the grounds, and kick out the long term Pabst Blue Ribbon guzzling, pit bull parolee, derelict residents then this place will never be comfortably habitable. Fear factors: -The sheets on both of our double beds were stained with blood spots and the floor was filthy. We slept on top of our beds in sleeping bag liners -The wooden frame for my bed was broke in half so the mattress sagged -A previous resident had left food in the mini fridge and the room cleaner apparently unplugged the fridge so we had to clear out smelly rotting food -Non-smoking room reeked of smoke -Constant noise from other guests throughout the night. We were awoken and frightened with a large bang in the middle of the night which we believe was caused by one of the colorful long term bumpkin residents drunkenly running into (or being thrown into) our door. Again, cue reviewer Jim B.'s need for 'hardware.' The upside: -The office staff were polite and helpful -We were unintentionally entertained by one of the local residents - there are many who live here - who regaled us with tales of his multiple felony arrests and general shenanigans. My favorite line "I used to love that Raspberry Vodka but I found I was allergic to it. Kept waking up in silver bracelets" (referring to handcuffs). Wow. But hey, they offer a tanning salon in the lobby! Add a little cancer to your alcoholism. Try the Plaza if you must stay in Pearisburg. The previously only other choice, the Rendezvous Hotel, burnt down several months ago while Mr. Felony was living there (yes, we heard that story as well). *My review is truthful & based on FACTS of an actual stay. I did not have any interaction with management while on or off property - I have nothing to gain from a negative review. Face it, this place is really bad but hopefully it will improve over time and perhaps adding overnight on site security could temporarily alleviate some of the issues.

Most of the hotel is finished other than the main areas where the breakfast is served. The staff was extra helpful in getting us extra pillows and towels since we had 5 in our room. The room was very clean. We loved the space for our family getting the 2 queen suite. It had a little kitchen area and a couch with two tvs. We also had a large whirlpool tub we were able to enjoy. The pool was lackluster. It was cold and the kids did not last very long. We also used the exercise room. It was sufficient but small. Difficult to do any yoga or stretching. Breakfast was great and well stocked. The staff was the best part. They offered cookies and drinks when checking in. They brought us extra pillows and towels. The pool and exercise area were well stocked with towels and water. They even gave the kids crayons and paper towels play.

Well, it IS as awful as the other reviews indicate. This Ramada hotel is a motel whose better days are behind it. My room was dark when I arrived after midnight, and the light switch was for a lamp whose bulb needed replacing, so I needed my phone to locate other lamps. Even in the dim light, the place was shabby, to put it kindly. The dirty windows had heavy curtains but not sheers, to give you and your neighbors a good look at each other. An aroma of stale smoke, Pine Sol, and possibly air fresheners hung about the non-smoking room. Cigarette burns decorated the limp sheets. The tub had been painted over ages ago and was cracking. There's so much more! After reading the other reviews, I knew to check for bed bugs and found none, but this did not keep me from staying up itching and regularly waking to the loud fits of groaning emitted by the elderly mini-fridge. The wifi works fine. The breakfast buffet was starches on styrofoam. Too bad also that the route to it passed an extended-stay guest who kept his door open on a 40° F morning to greet you. The one star is for the staff (and also because it's impossible to give zero stars), who do try! At the time of my stay, Ramada Roanoke had an offer of a bottle of water and a bag of chips, but the night manager was perplexed by it. So, in the morning, was the manager. From showing the offer to both, I have checked in twice, so I am now "Duchess" of this wreck!
