LA Railings was a pleasure to work with and we are extremely pleased with the finish work and look of our new glass railings! We did an major renovation of our home. We engaged LA Railings in the middle of the project, before we did any work on our existing stairs. We had two sets of non-floating stairs, a landing, and a set of floating stairs. The floating stair case, the most complex of the project, was made longer and wider, and having them involved in this piece of the project was important. We had new steel treads welded and the stand off bolts were welded before tread installation. Precise measurements and plans were very important. Sharam came on site several times before the project started and worked closely with our GC and Welder. I worked with Clalyton on the design. He gave me a few options, where the standoffs would be placed. I also able to visit the store front in North Hollywood. Sharam gave me a few different standoff sizes to try out on the treads after the hardwood wraps were completed. This really helped to decide the aesthetically the best size to use. The work crews that came out were very professional and helpful explaining the work and next steps. They took care to protect our home as most of it was finished work. It took several visits to complete the work (very large job) and do some adjusting. Sharam came out several times during the installation phase to oversee the work. Glass Railings really change and beautify your home. We had mostly metal railings, clean look, but now our floating staircase with the glass railings are absolutely the star of the home when you walk inside. Are they pricey? Yes, but even custom metal railings are expensive. These glass panels are tempered (think shower doors) AND double layered. If you have done any shower doors (we recently did 3 sets for 3 bathrooms) or installed new windows/sliding glass doors (I can't count how many we just installed!), glass is very expensive! 1-Star Review: Very Disappointing Experience With LA Railings (Van Nuys) I am extremely disappointed with my experience using LA Railings in Van Nuys. Nothing about this installation went smoothly, and the final result still looks uneven. I was originally told the installation would take 1.5 to 2 hours, but the crew was in my home for 5.5 to 6 hours, which completely disrupted my day. The first major issue was the handrail installation. The brackets were placed 3.5 inches off the glass railing, which looked completely wrong for a narrow residential staircase. When I contacted the owner, he insisted that 3.5 inches was "required by code." I asked for the exact code because my research showed no such requirement. He later admitted there is no code, and agreed to replace them at 1.5 inches, which is how they should have been installed from the beginning. The glass installation was also problematic. The panels were not flush, requiring three separate appointments before they finally aligned them. Even now, the spacing between the glass panels is uneven -- one gap is noticeably larger than the others. If spacing was part of the design, it should have been even and intentional, not random. Another issue I was disappointed to discover is that the base they installed includes four weep holes. Weep holes are typically used for drainage in exterior or commercial installations, not inside a home. In a residential staircase, they simply look like four chips in the base. This was never explained or discussed with me beforehand, and it detracts from the clean, modern look I specifically hired them to create. What was most frustrating was the lack of accountability. I contacted the owner again regarding the uneven glass spacing, and he never responded. After all the issues and return visits, the complete lack of follow-up or courtesy was unacceptable. For the price I paid, I expected professional workmanship, accurate information, and proper customer service. Instead, I received misinformation, repeated corrections, and unresolved issues that still impact the appearance of my home. I cannot recommend LA Railings. The product itself could have been beautiful, but the execution, communication, and attention to detail were extremely disappointing. read more

These guys just don't know when to stop. Why would I make up a bad review? What do I possibly have to gain by doing so? I called you guys, you did what you did, and now instead of learning from your bad review, you want to argue it. This attitude is why we had the problem in the first place. You can always tell a company with bad leadership and bad business practices by how they handle something as simple as a bad review. There really are only 3 options. 1) Attempt to fix whatever the problem is. This is arguably the best way, but requires the business owner to actually understand what they did to get the bad review was simply wrong, and for them to want to do better. When a business owner does this, it shows a genuine care and concern and a desire to do better. 2) Then there's option 2. Argue, fight, deny, etc. In doing so, the business owner reveals who they are, and how they handle their mistakes. Not by learning, but rather, by arguing things like "it didn't happen", or "Prove to me..." The stupid point being, there's no reason for most people to give a business a bad review. What benefit does one get by doing that? 3) ignore it, and hope it goes away. Not a great option, but better than option 2. You can see what they chose. read more

I haven't left a review like this in many years, but I honestly feel a responsibility to warn people about this company and the unbelievably sub-par service they provide. I hired LA Railings to fabricate and install a wrought iron railing in my home. After waiting weeks for their employees to come take measurements, I was informed it would be another several weeks because the (one) fabricator they have to make these type of railings had COVID. Of course I was happy LA Railings notified me of this, as I would never want to put myself or my family at risk. When it came time to design my railing, I will say that the company did offer ideas and feedback when I asked for it and even sent me a photo explaining the concept. Damian was very helpful and kind during this process. Now here's where it gets rough... Not once has the team ever been remotely close to on time. It is also incredibly difficult to communicate with many of the the fabricator's team because English is not their first language and the COVID masks do not help. When the fabricator's team came to take measurements of the staircase they made a template of it to then take back and create a final railing. Well, I had no idea that they would be WELDING INSIDE MY HOUSE to make the railing template. There were sparks flying everywhere landing on the stairs and my brand new hardwood floors! They put one or two blankets down but it was not even close to enough protection. I ran and brought moving blankets from my garage to try and cover more of the wood, but despite my attempt there were still SEVERAL BURN MARKS ON MY BRAND NEW HARDWOOD STAIRS!! One burn was especially horrible and burned a massive black hole in a stair tread - when I flagged it to him and he said that one of the posts would likely cover it. We confirmed our installation day and time with Clay two weeks ahead of time for 9am. When no one showed up by 9:20am, I contacted Clay who said there was a mix up and we actually weren't on the schedule for today, despite receiving a confirmation from him two weeks prior. He then said he could try to fit us in later than day in between other jobs. After explaining to Clay that my husband and I work from home and rearranged our work schedule to be available at 9am for the installation and noise that goes along with it, we agreed to rearrange our schedules yet again. We told Clay we would be available any time after 1pm but we were working in meetings until then - he said they would come at 1pm. Well as I was leading a work presentation, at 12:20pm we get a knock on the door and a doorbell ring with the fabricators showing up. I wont go into detail and explain how much aggravation this caused. The installation process was a nightmare. The measurements that the crew had previously taken were completely off. So off, that they needed to go outside to break apart the finished, coated handrail and re-weld a portion of it. In the process of doing this, the black coating melted off a section of the railing exposing the raw metal underneath. In an attempt to cover the exposed metal, the fabricator spray painted the section black INSIDE MY HOUSE WITH NO PROTECTION UNDERNEATH GETTING BLACK SPRAY PAINT ALL OVER MY NEW HARDWOOD FLOORS. I immediately asked him to stop and put some kind of protective covering down, but by that point is was too late. There was black paint all over the hardwood. When I showed it to him, he went out to his car to get what I thought was cleaner and started cleaning it up. When my husband asked him what he was using to remove the paint from our new hardwood floors he replied, "gasoline". He then pulled his mask down and started blowing on the spray painted part of the railing to dry it. That area that was spray painted over does not look remotely close to satisfactory. While drilling in the posts to the stairs, the fabricators ripped up a stair completely from the drywall leaving a huge hole between the stair and the tread! They also cracked the wall underneath another stair! The posts on the railing are also all slanted and not straight!! The entire time they seemed like they were in a huge rush and at one point a women (who seemed to be waiting outside for them) came up to our front door and starting looking in our house. Very strange, uncomfortable and unprofessional behavior. We immediately contacted Clay and Damian at LA Railings to express our extreme disappointment with this process and the final product. They said they would contact us within 24-hours to resolve it, but we have yet to hear from them. We would absolutely NOT recommend LA Railings to anyone. read more

LA Railings is an outstanding company! We contacted LA Railings for an estimate for stainless steel cable railing for our home when shopping around. Sharam was able to calculate a rough estimate based on measurements we gave him over the phone. We also scheduled an in-home estimate (where all measurements were taken) for later that same week. This company has samples you can view in-person in their showroom, which is huge because you can visualize exactly what will be in your home. They also have wood samples if you would like a wooden top rail. This company's prices for stainless steel cable railing are extremely competitive. Other companies quoted us similar prices for only steel railing, and told us that stainless steel would be at least double. We went with LA Railings because of their beautiful product, professionalism, efficiency, and great price. We worked with Sharam in regards to the railing (measurements, installation questions, etc.) and with Clay in regards to scheduling/ paperwork. Together they are a wonderful team! Sharam truly knows what he is doing, and is such a pleasant person to work with. Clay was always available to answer questions (we had a lot of questions) and provide updates. He is extremely professional, friendly, and helpful! The end result is AMAZING! We are in LOVE with the cable railing in our home. It has opened up our home and completely changed the look! We hired this company to create an elegant stainless and glass staircase. We had been shown lovely pictures of staircases he told us he had built. The final result was a shock for us to see and we were devastated with every facet of it. It looked nothing like the pictures and were missing parts we had requested. It was not just unsightly but also unsafe. The entire staircase moved as you walked down. We had to remove the staircase as well as carpet on our stairs they had damaged. We then hired a family owned staircase company that makes everything themselves . They look like works of art and the owner is honest, professional, tells the truth and is a wonderful craftsman. Our new stairs are gorgeous and safe. The original company I understand buys parts from catalogues and assemble those pieces to construct a staircase. Ours unfortunately was something so awful we were left no choice except to remove it. The owner would not admit there were any problems. The initial process went well. Clay and the owner were responsive and helped us understand what was needed and how to prep our space. Execution of the installation occurred on time but the outcome and follow up left room for improvement. First, they put in a shim that was red and visible without informing us and allowing us to participate in the decision on what to do there. Second, two of the panels were set lower than the center. It took probably a month for them to find someone to come fix the issues - totally understandable but did take some pushing to ultimately get it scheduled. We ended up with additional issues that we won't fix at this time. One panel was scratched during the adjustments and the two brackets holding the center section in place were not leveled. Icing on the cake - the check was cashed (we have the canceled check) and they can't find it in their account. Maybe we are a one-off hiccup for them but if you choose to work with them, pay close attention to the work as it is being completed. read more

What a fantastic job. My husband and I shopped around and as soon as we met with one of the designers of Modern Touch our minds were set with them and boy were we lucky to have found these guys. They gave us a sample with their high end design team (w out the high end cost) of what our home would look like after Lets just say the image they provided was great, but the work was even more fantastic.
