    Chicken fettuccine alfredo
    Ericka B.

Got takeout from here on a Saturday night, and we were happy to see that they were so busy. That usually means really good food! The order wasn't quite ready when we got there, but the staff offered to bring it out to our car when it was so we wouldn't have to wait inside. Very much appreciated from the staff and it only took about 15 minutes longer than what they told us. We ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, the spaghetti and meatballs, and the chicken marsala. The alfredo was fine, kind of standard. Although, the comment was mentioned that it could have used more chicken and was a little small for the price. The spaghetti and meatballs had good reviews and my friend said that it was a little spicy. He wasn't sure if that was the sausage or the sauce though. The chicken marsala came in two separate containers, which was appreciated, but I was very confused as to why the side of linguini had red sauce on it. I mean it didn't taste bad, but not exactly what I was expecting to go with the chicken. For overall taste, the chicken and mushrooms definitely had the taste of marsala wine and the chicken tasted better than it looked. The meals come with fresh Italian bread and butter. We were surprised to see that it looked like half a loaf of bread, but there was no butter provided and the top of ours was burnt. Overall, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, but the food just kind of seemed average. I'm not going to lie, I was expecting something a little more stand out given the reviews that I've read, so that lead to the 3 stars. It's fine, but given the price of Italian food, I think if we go back I would try the pizza instead of anything pasta related.

First time visit to La Rocca's and far overdue! I went to high school with the two daughter's of the family thats owns this establishment. Their parents are just as amazing! Cathy and Vito are super kind people simply out to make great southern Italian themed Italian food that their family has enjoyed themselves for years in Italy and here in the USA. I took a fast liking to all the dishes we got as well. I'd get each dish again for sure! I was even allowed to get played photos of each dish ordered just for my blog so it could be seen in prime played condition. We then boxed it all up for take out as this is how all their service is done for now. Call in orders are easy, simple, and accurate. The portions are generous and the prices are worth every penny paid. The inside is small and cute I have to say. I wish they could be open! Felt just like the small Italian trattoria I got to know well in my year living in NE Italy all of 2019, no joke. The aroma inside alone is worth coming in I swear it! If you seek good affordable, legit Italian grubs, this is it. Tell Emma, the superb front desk hostess that Josh sent you, she'll take care of you! Next time I come back, it's desserts!

The atmosphere was nice - low lighting and the decor made it feel like the typical at-home Italian feel. The food was also great - I thoroughly enjoyed all of the food I ordered and the fresh bread that came with the meal. I think my one complaint has to be the service. I admit, I did show up on a Friday night, but I was seated immediately... and then proceeded to wait 15 minutes for water. Getting bread about 10 minutes after also was a bit disheartening, but the food was absolutely worth the wait. Overall - maybe I'd come back on a less busy day, or I just felt a huge amount of variance that day. I'd happily give Nonno's another shot someday, as I truly like their food - just a matter of getting it out in a timely fashion.

Soup and salads arrived but no appetizer. Entrees arrived. I canceled the cheese curds. No apology. My friend ordered another drink. It never arrived. Our server never checked in. It wasn't that busy. Service gets 2 stars only due to the bus staff keeping our waters full. Food. They start you with an olive oil balsamic butter with really crispy focaccia. Excellent. I wished they would have added some grated Romano or Parmesan cheese. This was the highlight of the food. The food gets 2 Stars. It was subpar for what I expected from the reviews. Maybe I'm being harsh but the fettuccine Alfredo was under seasoned, dry and lacked Parmesan cheese. Another diner had the same opinion. So much so I left the leftovers. The shrimp scampi was underwhelming. The cioppino was over salted and the seafood over cooked. The Caesar salad was tasteless. The minestrone was average and the Caesar salad was tasteless. The dressing lacked garlic, anchovies and salt. Not sure it deserves a second chance.

But once you walk in, it's a completely different story. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful, and had actually been to Rome, which made the conversation more interesting and added a nice touch of authenticity. And the food? Way beyond what we expected. Everything was well done and felt like a real step up from what the exterior might lead you to believe. You can feel the history in this up close, the statue at the entrance of the Trevi Fountain almost pulls you in before you even realize what you're looking at. The detail is incredible, even with the wear and mineral buildup from years of flowing water, it actually adds to the character. Standing there, tossing a coin over your left shoulder, it's one of those moments that feels a little touristy... until you do it. Then it just feels right. Like you're taking part in something that's been going on for generations. Simple tradition, but a pretty cool one. This place is a bit of a hidden gem. The standout was the spicy chicken: the "spicy red sauce" turned out to be more of a creamy, spicy blend, and it was fantastic. Everything came out piping hot, which I really appreciated. They also bring out warm rolls, and those were surprisingly tasty, soft, fresh, and perfect for dipping. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It had a lot of ice in it, so next time I might ask for it straight up just so I can savor it and not let the ice water it down. We also had delicious bread brought to the table with a plate of olive oil and balsamic. The bread was cut into nice little pieces, was warm, and had a delightful texture where the outside was slightly crisped but not enough to impede your bite and the inside was just warm and soft. The have a nice, varied menu and it was hard to decide what to get. I was really craving marinara sauce, so I ended up going with the Cappellaci Di Salsiccia which was a meat and cheese enclosed pasta with marinara. And it was delicious. I'm not wild about pesto, but had to sample a bit and the way the pesto clung to the penne was really tasty. They also have a ragu lasagna and chicken piccata on their menu that I can't wait to try. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we like it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update (12/13/24): We've been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years.
