We really enjoyed our visit to La Rockita on Saturday. This is a more "taqueria" style restaurant, with pretty authentic offerings, so those used to more Americanized sit down Mexican restaurants may not appreciate everything. We ordered at the counter, and they were helpful in figuring out what to order. I got (2) carne asada tacos, (1) pastor taco, a cup of horchata, and an order of chips and salsa for the table. They give you a decent sized cup for the horchata, and you self-serve from the "soda fountain" (no free refills on horchata). The flavor and consistency of the drink were spot on, with just the right amount of cinnamon, and not too thick. Perfect accompaniment to my lunch. The chips & salsa came out with a large enough portion of chips for the three of us, and small cups of 4 different dips -- a smoky salsa with a slight kick, pico de gallo, refried beans, and a thin "guacamole salsa". All were delicious, although we had more of the dips leftover after the chips were gone, so they may need to even out their proportions there. My tacos were very flavorful, and actually *over*-filled with meat (that is not a bad problem to have). I added some of the supplied jalapenos to each, a little of the smoky salsa, and generous squeezes of lime; and my taste buds were quite happy. The pastor was not the most flavorful I've ever had, but still very tasty. The carne asada was definitely my preference of the two meats. Everyone in our small group enjoyed what we had, and we'll definitely come back again. It was all delicious. read more

This little spot came recommended by one of my foodie muggle friends, and it didn't disappoint. The service was fantastic--friendly and attentive. The space itself felt a bit cluttered and could've used a quick wipe-down, but nothing that ruined the experience. I ordered the carne asada burrito, which was both tasty and filling. My wife went with the shredded chicken burrito, and hers was just as good. Prices are competitive with other places in town, and the food quality is on par--or even better--than most. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the salsas. They weren't as bold or flavorful as I prefer. Couldn't have been nicer about accommodating our vegan order. Everyone was so friendly and the food delicious.

All 3 of us got large burritos and oh boy did they live up to their name. These burritos were stuffed with meat, cheese, rice, beans and all kinds of wonderful spices! Requested black beans instead of pinto, as well as brown rice in the steak burrito and it was no problem at all. Restaurant has good music, as well as lots of fun Mexican decor. While everything (food, atmosphere, pricing) was OK, nothing was exceptional. This place is the definition of fast casual with the emphasis on fast. My lunch burrito was on our table in under 10 minutes from when it was ordered. Pricing wasn't much different than the bigger chains so expect mid-teens $s for lunch meal. What wasn't good was that any sauces came at an inflated price. Other places would have sauces gratis but you gotta pay here. My medium pork burrito was actually pretty big but also pretty dry (basically no sauce inside).Remedying the dryness would add a few more $s. Not your typical mexican fare. No free chips and salsa and if you do order them, its a single small portion. The next table ordered Nacho's and it looked good. Chicken Chimichanga had 3, yes three pieces of chicken, way too many pinto beans and no cheese. The flour tortilla was large and the ends were inedible as they were so thick. Enchiladas were ok, but only a teeny dab of cheese. Pico was in a teeny cup. We ordered at the front and it took 20 minutes to get our food. No we will never go back. $49 for the small portions dinner was twice what it was worth. read more

The employees are very nice and service was great, so I hate criticizing the food but it was mediocre. Carne Asada Torta had refried beans on it with a sprinkling of carne asada. The tamale was average and salsa was ok. The torta, two tamales nachos and a couple of drinks for $71 with the tip. Not worth it. read more

Absolutely the best Super Nachos in the world. :) That said, the size has decreased over the years and the price has gone up quite a bit. But have never found any that come close to the flavor of this. Tried the Birria Taco special (currently only on Saturdays) and the broth/sauce was delicious! read more

Bam! Delicious and gigantic! Didn't weigh it but it feels like four pounds sitting in my belly... not one single piece of gristle in the three meats in my burrito had in it. I don't know the last time I've had such quality and quantity! I haven't been into this location and boy have I been missing out! The menu is great, staff are super friendly and helpful and it's very clean inside. It just did takeaway but the food was more than enough for two meals! It tasted fantastic and now I'm already planning on what I'm going to order next! I got the fajitas de camerones (shrimp fajitas) and the shrimp are huge, beautiful and fresh! The pico de gallo is delicious, and the beans and rice were some of the best I've had! I ordered the super burrito without knowing what it was or seeing any picture. When the server brought me the burrito, I was speechless and full of excitement! We ordered the Super Nachos with three different types of meat. Reached of the meats was charred to perfection. The plate of nachos was about 2 1/2 servings. I freakin love La Rockita. I have for over 12 years ever since I first had their food. I also have always gotten the same thing every time because I am a creature of habit but I also know what's good and it's so consistent. I always order the Super Chicken Burrito. That thing is just the perfect amount of food for me at lunch. The meat is cooked perfectly. I have nothing bad to say about this burrito and it doesn't take long once you order even if the line seems long during a lunch rush. Worth any wait. I used to go here in high school with my buddies so I have fond memories of the old location, I hope to visit the newest spot soon. I do believe that it is a family business and if it isn't, it they certainly give off that vibe. They are all so kind and courteous. I've been there several times and am always impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. I liked that they served me wedges of lime for my taco because my understanding is that this is an authentic way to eat them. West coast Mexican food is something I often long for and feel deprived of in the midwest. Even if I happen to find good Latin food there, it's never quite hit the spot like a good burrito, taco, tamale, or horchata from Oregon. In pursuit of something to fulfill my missing need, I found La Rockita. The location has been off my radar, though i've passed by many times, and I realized the name was familiar because there are others in town. Nothing fancy about the storefront, but that's just how it should be. The food inside is great! The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly. Steaming hot, delicious food in front of me in under 5 minutes. Who cares what it looks like from the outside- go here! Clearly that message has spread as there was a streaming crowd of hungry, then satisfied customers. Every table was occupied at some point during our stay, and the staff prompt met all needs for full and happy bellies. I had the bistek Mexicana burrito and the husband had a steak burrito. I was torn between this and the tacos, tamales, torta, oh...and about everything else on the menu. Price is good, service is great, and I got to have a delicious horchata.
