The only thing I recommend about this Salon is Lily! She is amazing at cutting hair!! Otherwise, DO NOT give them your business!! They want you to keep a credit/debit card on file or they don't let you book with them! I've had my identity stolen before therefore I do not feel comfortable just giving my debit and or credit card numbers out to anyone!! Also, they don't have any stylist that can do both color and a cut. They require you to book two separate appointments. read more

I went in for low lights and highlights. I paid over 200 and I got Robbed. I am a blonde. I was given weird black streaks except my bangs were just a splotch of black, like a bird pooped on my head this black die. She left my roots un done as you can see by the photos. The 2nd worst hair dye I have ever had. Lisa isn't just rude she just hates life. While doing my hair she told me how she hates her job and can't wait to on line sales. Yes she was rude about EVERYTHING but it's just because she is bitter. These photos are from the day of and day after. It was horrible! Imagine coming OUT of the salon with this hair! read more

Kyrie does a fantastic job on my highlights!! Her technique is on point and is very well blended at the roots! I always get compliments on my hair color because of it! My hair tends to get brassy and she has been the only hairstylist to be able to knock that out! Highly recommend her! read more

Had a few amazing experiences with Lisa and a Leila who worked magic on cutting/trimming and blowing out my coarse thick hair. The professionals were great, my mistake was giving the salon more chances than I should have. Problems were with the colorists. I had one who had been consistent results. She was definitely pretty rough on my hair, but I justified that if she washes the dye roughly off of my head, I'm ok with the pulling during the color application. For the last 5-6 appointments, although the same colorist applied color, there were multiple different people (trainees?) who rinsed the dye from my hair, and sometimes blow dried. All of the different people did one or more or all of the following while rinsing: - pulled my hair very hard - sprayed water everywhere, including down my back, that plastic smock did nothing - didn't fully rinse the dye, and I can pull dye from my scalp after the "rinse", and also had allergic reactions to the dye left on my scalp - gave me incorrect directions to turn, raise my head while washing, and then accidentally pulling/spraying in the wrong direction - gave me directions to go to a rinse basin, or seat and then moving me somewhere else I really wanted to like the place, its close, I like Lisa and Leila, and I'm a creature of habit. But I finally got over my refusal of change when - I realized that every time I leave there, I have to go home and wash my hair immediately because it was burning my scalp - The final time when I was waiting in line to check in , two ladies who had just done chitchatting with an older gentleman (who looks like the owner), literally cut in front of me to pay, book their next appointment, and lollygag for another 10 minutes. The receptionist didn't acknowledge me or look up, and just let me go on with their requests. Quality and service were terrible. I was paying at least $250 per appointment (that I was originally happy to give to great stylists AND tip 20-25%), to be popped from one chair to another and sometimes forgotten. Ignored by receptionist, used as a guinea pig for trainees who were passed off as professionals. Ladies, save your money, time and sanity. Great stylists and colorists are abundant, look at their reviews on Yelp. Give THEM your business instead. read more

I have been going to Brian Charles for years and almost always had good experience. Today was different though. I love my stylist Kyrie but today I felt rushed. She saw 2 other clients in between my color , I did not mind giving the shampooing part to a new person ( who was nice but very very slow ) . At the end my hair was styled by Kyrie and the new girl all at the same time with 2 blow dryers and two people pulling my hair from both sides.. overall not a pleasant experience. Guess this happened because the salon has a new owner and maybe stylists are pushed to take more clients in a more crunched time ? Hope this won't happen again as I love Kyrie. read more

This place charges you a lot of money , treats you like dirt with no respect for you or your time, and to make it even worst leaves you with chemical burns and hair color ALL OVER YOUR FACE . it is agonizing and painful experience and sent me to urgent care. they will be sued. read more

After leaving California, I was having a hard time finding a stylist that knew how to do my hair-- in Austin--the way I asked. Finally found one at Brian Charles: April. Now I have 2 there that know what they're doing! April and Ashton. Last time here, April fixed a hair catastrophe I'd received from a salon in Bee Cave. April fixed it. She's great. Brian Charles Hair Studios has cancelled two consecutive hair appointments (one cut, one color) long after it was set. This is an ongoing communication from February 5 to March 5, and it is supremely disappointing. Photos of our text exchanges are posted. For some reason this salon's booking person cannot keep track of training stylists and they leave -- and those of us counting on updating our hair waiting for weeks are left in the lurch. After they break the agreement, there is no offer or incentive of replacement to maintain good relations. They explicitly do want THEIR time to be respected however. As a longtime customer of this salon I've noticed some changes over the past few months. The salon did change ownership about 6 months ago. Unfortunately, the two receptionist's they use to have are no longer working there. They use to greet me by name as they checked me in and offer me a drink. Now, no hello or welcome at all. Upon checking out the new receptionist does not ask if everything was ok with my service as they use to ask because quite frankly they act like they could careless. Some prices have gone up as well; some warranted others are ridiculous. I no longer feel a need to pay high prices for a supposedly upscale salon when they act like they don't care if they have my business or not. Sure wish Ric and Jon still owned and ran this business. read more

It has taken almost a year for my hair to grow back after getting butchered there. Had been a customer for many years.

I had a 10am appt with Tan today. When I showed up a few min before 10 I was greeted by an unsmiling hostess who told me Tan would be right with me and then she went back to staring at her computer. What she didn't tell me is that Tan wasn't even in the building. They didn't offer me any update or ask if I was comfortable. In fact, I felt like I had bothered her to check in. There was absolutely no communication by the staff while I waited. At 10:10 I walked up to inquire about Tan and was told they would try calling him to see where he was. That's when things started to unravel. Tan came in from the parking lot about 5 min later looking like he'd just rolled out of bed. He said he had been sitting in his car because he thought I was late. That made no sense to me so I asked what he meant. He then said their system must have a problem because he didn't receive the message letting him know I'd arrived. If he wasn't even at work yet, why would it have mattered? Shouldn't he have come in to set up for me? His whole explanation made no sense. He then asked me (still standing in the lobby) what I wanted done with my hair. I asked him if he wanted to discuss it there in the lobby or if we should go back to his chair. Tan said he couldn't take me back because there was an Islamic woman back there who didn't want a man to see her without the hijab. They kept repeating this as if it were the woman's fault instead of theirs that they were running late. It bordered on Islamophobic which irritated me even more. So I asked, "you mean you don't have a station to cut my hair?" He said no, he couldn't go back there because of this other client. (So why would they book me if they didn't have a place to see me?) At that point, another employee suggested he use someone else's station. They obviously hadn't thought through the situation as that was the obvious solution (the place has two sections divided by a wall). The woman who they had been referencing came up to pay at this point and her stylist joined the conversation. She was professional and nice, but there was no way I was letting Tan cut my hair at that point and no alternative solution was presented to me. I didn't trust his judgement, presentation or customer service. My final thoughts are these: 1. They need a re-training on customer service for their front staff. 2. Stylists should be on time 3. Stylists should look professional 4. Don't make excuses, offer solutions 5. Communicate with clients. My issue isn't him running late. It is the complete lack of communication or care for my comfort that got to me. I should not be made to feel I am not important. 6. If there is an issue, don't hash it out in the lobby, sit down with the client somewhere comfortable. I will NOT be back. read more

Mandy is a miracle worker and really helped fix my color problems. Tony gave me the best haircut I have had in years. They gave me great styling tips and ways I can take care of my hair. I have gotten my hair done twice at this salon with Makenna. With each time I have been completely blown away by her professionalism, expertise, creativity, time management, and overall refreshingly upbeat demeanor. She has so much skill and knowledge and is always happy to share about the process. I definitely have made a mess of my hair from previous home experiments and am baffled at how much she always seems up to what feels like an impossible challenge- and succeeds beyond my expectations! Makenna is a true miracle worker and hair aficionado. Your hair is an extension/expression of your personality and has such influence on your confidence. I can 100% say that Makenna's work has me feeling most like myself/a billion bucks. I will not trust anyone else with my hair and would be willing to drive the distance just to see her. She is the total package and would be a great asset to any salon. The salon itself is lively, clean, and everyone here is quite warm and welcoming. There have been several moments where colleagues have stopped by to compliment on Makenna's work (and I often hear uplifting comments being passed between everyone in general) and I can tell that they have a strong, supportive family going on here. read more

Toni cut my hair, I never knew someone to explain what and why he was doing certain methods of cutting to my hair, and how it would lay and it's just perfect. I never had this experience before it was amazing. I come from a small town compared to Austin and this was a truly amazing experience all around. I can't thank Toni or kyrie enough for cutting and coloring my hair to perfection and blending everything so well. with so much knowledge between the two and how every process was explained I will definitely be coming back, and highly recommend to anyone new to the area or new to the location. My hair cut was fine but having someone who must of been a manager or owner show up with a timer on their phone that had run down to zero at thirty minutes past my appointment was extremely unprofessional. I was 5 minutes late due to traffic and if this was an issue then the appointment should of been rescheduled but I didn't come for a $55 hair cut to feel rushed. The same person even peered around the corner and looked at my hair dresser again as if to say hurry up. Simply unacceptable. read more
