Very mid. Fine for a big group but nothing was standout. Will say the shrimp was great- good char and flavor both the appetizer and add on are probably the only things id get again. The pizza is no longer wood fire, even the waiter told us to get something else when we asked for recommendations- I wish we listened, we didn't even take the leftovers home. The steak was cooked fine and the pastas were also fine. Service was friendly for a group of 10 and worked with us on all our questions. read more

We were sat down and waited about 20 minutes for anyone to even come over to ask if we wanted something to drink. We ended up having 4 people serving us the entire night. We waited another 35 minutes for our bill to even come to the table. Food was ok, nothing that stood out to us. As we were walking by the bar to leave, some wine glasses fell over and broke above the ice bin. The bartender behind the bar told the girl he was going to empty it and clean it out as there was probably some glass in the bin. She told him not to worry about it and to keep using it. After this experience we will not be returning. read more

I took my 80+ year old In-laws to this restaurant for dad's birthday. It was close to home, convenient parking and intimate setting. Brianna, our server was very attentive and friendly. She gave good recommendations and accommodated specific requests. The food was authentically Italian and everything was delicious. The veal and chicken parmesan dishes were a hit with the parents. I had a Caesar salad which was so large I shared it with everyone at the table and linguine with shrimp as my main dish. We topped off the evening with cappuccino and tiramisu, which were a big hit. I couldn't ask for a more perfect dinner outing with the parents. I'm certain they will be asking to go back soon. read more

I made a reservation for 5 on yelp for same day on a Saturday and was pleased that my reservation was on their paper hostess chart when we arrived :) I liked that that was reconciled. We got a nice table off to the side so it was a bit quieter than sitting by the kitchen entrance. The menu was fairly extensive and had a little bit of everything Italian. Lots of option including pizza for dinner service. The olive oil that they serve with the delicious bread is amazing. It has truffle oil in it so the smell was fantastic! A great first impression for me is what bread they choose to provide but the olive oil and pepper oil was superb! We had grilled calamari to start - very good, then I had the veal scallopini with lemon. It was good and I liked how they put it in smaller pieces rather than a huge piece. My aunt and uncle said the saltimbocca was a bit overcooked but the flavour was good. The best entree was the seafood pasta because the pasta they used was fresh. Great quality noodles! We finished with a Nutella pizza, a bit messy but nonetheless delicious :) overall a great experience because there was also a great live singer named Allesandro Rotondi. He's legit! read more

There was a time when my wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner outing here. Unfortunately the service and food are not what they used to be.

The food was good. Fresh pasta great salad . The side salad was huge we all shared . The veal with mushrooms was very tasty but veal was paper thin. Service was great! There were 5 of us in a booth . Very nice atmosphere however we were there at 6:30. The music ( a gentleman playing the guitar) was so loud we could even hear the person across the table speaking. It is great to have music during dinner however I feel that you should have to yell across the table during dinner. read more

I have been to the restaurant several times. I will be now going here regularly when I want good food close to home. The service was great. Our waiter was Jadran. He is very attentive and knowledge about the food and he even does great napkin art. The owner, Tony, was also very attentive and helped us celebrate a friend's birthday and even dinner with a large group of friends. The food here is made from scratch and excellent. The desserts are even more decadent. We had a good experience at this restaurant. I have tried the gnocchi caprese, tiramisu, Nutella pizza, and their wood fired pizza. Friends have also enjoyed their specials which change regularly - fish and even their lasagna verde. I absolutely enjoyed the roasted peppers with the bread. Will be back for sure!! read more

I was hosting a surprise birthday party at our home for my wife and decided to order our food from her favourite restaurant LaRucola since we go there so often. I called earlier in the week and they were so accommodating creating the menu and they stayed within my budget. The food was absolutley amazing and everyone loved it. My mother chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner last night. Its one of her favorites and I understand why. The food is excellent. Everyone at the table was very happy with their meal. More than that, the servers are charming, accommodating and attentive. Our entire group ordered their meals in classic "When Harry met Sally" style (its funny if you're not the server). Our server Zak took it in stride, and got everything delivered to our table exactly right. We had a spectacular family evening, talking and laughing while we dined. I highly recommend the mushroom soup and La Rucola salad to start, however, their more complex starters ordered by my dinner companions all looked great too. I've had many dinners at this restaurant with good service and food. Today we had lunch for a family birthday with less than satisfactory service and food. Server was confused and could not coordinate drink orders and apps. I had to get up to find him so we could order. We would rarely see him the rest of the time. As for food, 1 of the 7 orders was good (pizza) the others were all warm to cold, some were lacking seasoning. Pasta was soggy. Marinara was like tomato paste. Arancini was deep fried so long the outside was hard and the inside was hollow with a bit of melted cheese. The veal parmigiana had a tough thick cut of veal and not thin. 4 cheese gnocchi was tasty but cold. The $34 arugula salad with goat cheese, cranberries (if you could find one) and shrimp wasn't work $8. In all a poor experience for $250. Worst part, we had to pay in full and got 2 free nutella pizzas which were sub par. Would not recommend lunch at this place. read more

Decided to eat here after a LONG work week. I did not want to venture down to Walkerville to my favourite place. I had seen reviews on Yelp about this restaurant and since it wasn't too far from my house I decided to give it a try. We started off with the "bruchetta tre colori". It was two pieces of bruchetta, two pieces of garlic bread and two pieces of bread with melted gorgonzola. It was Ok. We also ordered the rice balls. Rice balls are different everywhere I go. I can honestly say that these were not my favourite. They reminded me of the rice balls at Spagos on Erie Street. I don't like Spago's rice balls either. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna and said it was good. I ordered the tortellini and it was good too. Overall, I did not hate my experience. The staff was very friendly. My only issue was with our drink glasses. Luckily we ordered pop which came in bottles, so we drank out of our bottles. Both our glass rims had what appeared to be dried up coke on them. read more

Amazing, amazing, amazing!! Firstly, we made a reservation and they were extremely busy so our table wasn't ready once we arrived. We waited less than 15 minutes and they were incredibly accommodating, treating our party to a bottle of champagne while we waited. Secondly, the food was incredible. I ordered the salmon and let me tell you, I'm quite picky about how I like mine prepared. It was PERFECT. A nice, crisp outing while flaky and moist on the inside and perfectly seasoned. Worst customer service I have ever experienced! I wish there was an option were you give not even one star! Our reservation was for 5pm, for our staff Christmas party. We were told right away we will have to be done by 6:45, due to another party coming in. Appetizers and dessert were subpar, main course was great. We asked for the bill and chose to pay using a credit card. The waiter managed to put in a different amount, $12 more than the bill. She apoloziged saying she does not have her glasses on. I did not leave a tip on the card, because I had cash for that. One moment after she leaves with the machine, she comes back to tell us we have to leave. It was 6:30pm. We asked how come, since we were initially told we have untill 6:45pm. " You have to leave because the other party is already here and YOU HAD THE AUDACITY NOT TO TIP." Speechless!!! Huge disappointment. Save your money and do a drive thru window. Trust me it would be more satisfying. Where do I start..pasta was dry as a bone. Told the owner he said it was Italian style. Never have I had pasta there or anywhere that dry. Told I should have ordered extra sauce really,,?? Should I have to it is pasta not a pizza. Salad showed Italian style salad. In the picture and when I called said it was greens with cucumber and tomatoes. Salad had 2 small pieces of dry cucumber at the bottom and one yes one cherry tomatoe cut in half. Owner said it was advertised as italian style salad..um which means you don't get what we advertise,? My favourite 8 piece chicken dinner. Great. 3 pieces were wings. KFC does not even allow that. Owner said we weigh them. Lol that is a joke..so is this resteraunt. Do not bother save your money. If you do complain you are just met with senseless excuses. read more

We had a terrible experience here! Firstly, we were at our table for 35 minutes before anyone even acknowledge we were there. It was a busy night but as a business owner you make adjustments with staffing to cover your patrons. Four out of six of us ordered soup for an appetizer, ALL four bowls came out cold and needed to be sent back. Our entrees were not much better. Three of the pasta dishes were over cooked and just a big glob. The veal parm was so dry it actually was used to ding on the plate! The green beans used as a side were raw. But, not one of us made an issue over all these problems. We knew we would never come back. When our waitress Cindy finally made her way to our table with the debit machine this was the only time we had any contact with her since taking our drink order. At this point one person spoke very softly to her and expressed his dislike of his meal. He asked her to relay to the chef how terrible his meal was. Cindy then lost her cool and began yelling at our whole table, telling us that they were considered fine dining & this was not McDonalds!!! She was so condescending to our friend. At this point our group told her she had no right addressing a customer in that way. We are all business executives, we know the difference between McDonalds and a nice evening out. She obviously does not like confrontation because at this point the whole restaurant is aware of the argument. She then threw our meal checks on the table, and screamed at us "You people have been nothing but rude to me all night"! Our jaws dropped! In my 60+ years of dining out we have never ever been treated so poorly. Cindy as a waitress should be the face of this business, her attitude needs to be reprimanded. We have since attempted to contact the owner Tony on 3 different days/times, we still have not spoken to him. We will never eat here again and have related this experience to our colleagues, family and friends. Choose wisely, go elsewhere! read more

Extremely noisy. Unfortunately a musician was playing guitar and singing which added to the noisy atmosphere . Service was very slow. Arrived at 7 pm . A drink order was not taken until 740. Meals were slow to arrive and soup was quite cool. Wait staff returned it to the kitchen and it was fine. End of meal and waiting to pay, one member of our group complained his veal was hard around the edges and service very slow.Waitress ,Cindy , replied " well sir this is not a MacDonalds dining experience". Our group found this statement offensive. When requesting to speak with the manager ,Zak, he apologized and informed us that there was nothing he could do. La Rucola went above and beyond my expectations. The restaurant is intimate with an elegant Italian decor. They have a wide variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts so you're guaranteed to find something you like. My friend got the rum chicken and the flavours were so intense and complex--it was heaven. Their wine selection was great too. Service was impeccable. They constantly made sure our glasses were full and all our needs were met. At the end of the night they even gave us complimentary shots. Sufficed to say, I was blown away. Ate there last night and was overall happy with the food. Ate the rice balls to start which were pretty good. Free flatbread and peppers and oil were fantastic and we all enjoyed this. Ordered the house red which wasn't that great - disappointing since the house wine is supposed to be a reflection of the restaurant. Ordered the penne with salmon which was really tasty and crime brûlée for dessert which was also very good. Also a complementary shot after dinner was also a nice surprise. Now the not so good. They only gave us one set of cutlery. Even though after the appetizer we put our cutlery on the plate, the waiter removed our cutlery and put them on the table. We had to use the same cutlery for the appetizer, salad, and entree. Had pepper on my entree but the setting was way too course and this overpowered my meal. Had Parmesan cheese on our meals and it wasn't fresh shaved. Overall we would return and hopefully the restaurant improves the several areas that should be improved. Ron read more
