8 year customer left !! Rude man answered phone with American accent not Polish, rude to me. His behavior final thing that crossed line. In past Agnus regularly cut my hair did very good job. Then her styling chair moved to a dark poorly lit area. After that sometimes not getting what I described. I wonder if poor lighting affected hair cutting? She cut 'V' shape onto back of my hair I hate it I didn't ask for it. Layers different one side of my head than other. Burnt hair with flat iron, my natural straight hair It does not need to be gone over & over with flat iron until hair burns, overuses it. I left more than once with hair feeling more damaged 'after' cut. Rude American man answered phone not polite, nasty bad attitude when I try to make appointment with new different stylist. I told him I would please need few minutes to talk to new stylist before appointment because it would be first time with new stylist. Nasty guy yelled at me "our appointments are 1/2 an hour!!" I said "that's not very long, I could use bit longer since it is my first time", I explained "I have long hair to waist, long layers it takes time to wash & I need to talk to her 1st about what I want her to do". He laughed nasty way said "we can double time and charge you double amount how would you like that?!' he was laughing. Of course I say "no". He asks "are you having chemical processes?" I said "only hair cut". He found out I have no expensive chemical processes then he didn't care if he lost me as customer. I said "I can't believe you talk to long time customer I'm coming here 8 years." He asked "who cut your hair?" I said "Agnus" he yelled "SHE'S STILL ALIVE!!" He's shaming me because I wanted to see different stylist not Agnes, I was shocked. I have right to change stylists! I told him "I'm not happy with cuts & want to see someone new". He act like I had committed crime!! I said "I'm surprised you don't care what customers think!". He yelled with bitter nasty voice "I AM TAKING YOUR APPOINTMENT OUT OF THE COMPUTER" he slammed phone down hung up. Rude, unprofessional. read more

When I saw my hair after it was done I almost fainted. It was devastating. I had a cut and color and both were nothing like the reference photos. To add insult to injury she fried my scalp and I started loosing my hair in handfuls. It's been nearly a year and my hair is slowly growing back with some patches barely growing in. I can't do anything with my hair and have to keep cutting it hoping it finally grows in healthier. No stylist wants to touch my hair because it's so fragile they're afraid all of it will fall out completely, so now I have to embrace my grays. On top of the fact that the man at the front desk was extremely rude with every question he seemed agitated and like I was bothering him. They should get a new receptionist that is professional and people friendly. Save yourself. read more

Oh my god! I have never cried in a hair salon before. I walked in with long ombre hair down to my butt and asked for highlights on top of my blonde ombre and a root touch up. Ivanka turned my hair black with streaky nasty highlights and cut my hair in a ponytail without me knowing how much she cut. Once she washed it, I balled my eyes out. 7 inches of hair gone and all of my ombre gone which I paid thousands to get. On top she was a bitch. Called me crazy and walked away as I was crying. Who does that? I am calling whoever is in charge of hairdressers tomorrow because my gorgeous hair is gone and so short which I didnt ask for and I cant get back the length. Made me pay too! then gave me a little discount for my troubles because oh she misunderstood me. No remorse zero customer service and complete assholes including the guy owner who was looking at cameras. I should've called the police because this should be illegal. I didn't just lose half my hair; I lost all my blonde and everything I paid for it through the years. I hope they shut down because they treat you like dirt. No one asked for such a short hair cut no one! I didn't tell her color over my blonde a Greyish black with highlights which she afterwards ran me to the song to wash her mistake off almost burning my scalp! These are things that are u forgivable and I can't get my inches back or my blonde and my scalp hurts from the chemicals! No remorse nothing! So rude and at least speak English and communicate with your client and not do what's in your head because I am devastated from her mistake. My best friend has been going there for as long as I have. Their standards have dropped, and the people the hire are not good with customer service. The last time my best friend went to Agnus, her hair was severely damaged. I'm sorry Agnus but you completely damaged her hair and took no responsibility for it. Agnus and the owners told her if she wants it fixed she would have to pay. This is when she already payed an arm and a leg to have it done. Her hair was falling out in chunks, died a different color and over priced. Guess what? Nothing was done about it. She will never again go to Agnus or that establishment again. I have been going here regularly for almost 6 years. I decided to leave the mediocre salon and try elsewhere. Word travels, and this will not go unnoticed. I have been going here regularly for almost 10 years. Originally I started with Sylvia but the last few years I saw her she just wasnt doing my cut or color right at all anymore. The last time it happened I decided to tell her I didnt like the way it came out and she basically started yelling at me. Shes rude and not friendly at all. Since then I decided to start seeing Anya, the owner, who had cut my hair on a few occasions when Sylvia wasnt working, and she has done an amazing job EVERY SINGLE TIME! I am so happy with the cut and color job she does and never have to feel like Im paying for something I didnt want anymore. The receptionist, Anyas daughter, is also super friendly. I have also had my eyebrows done here, with Isabella (I think thats her name) and she does an amazing job as well! In conlusion, Anya and just about all the girls here are super friendly and do a wonderful job! Everyone who walks out of this place looks great! You would be hard-pressed to find a more talented set of hairdressers in the area! read more

Izabella does my lashes and I'm complimented on them often. I'm always happy with my hair. My hair is super thin and fragile and they tell me no to things I'd like to do so I don't ruin or break it further. I went in last night for a hair cut. I have short hair and wanted it short on the sides and long in the middle. I told the lady who cut my hair to use a 5 or 6 on the sides. (short but not too short) She is buzzing away and I'm realizing it is way too short. I asked her what number did she use for the sides. She said, Oh, I just used 1/4in I don't have the numbered cartridges for the buzzer...........That would have been nice to know ahead of time. I was pissed. I walked out and cried in my car. I think I look so ugly right now with this haircut. Luckily my hair grows like a weed. I'll like it in about a week. My head is cold and itchy. I will not be returning to La Salon. read more

Magda works wonders! I was referred to her by a girlfriend and now both of my cousins left their hairdressers for her. She really listens and gives you what you ask for in hair color. I get compliments all the time on my hair (seriously). I have been to her once but I am going back again for a cut along with color. Oh and I drive way out my way to Garfield just to see Magda (I live in Hoboken), so it's really saying something when I could just save the trip and go to a hairdesser in Hoboken or NYC but I choose to go to La Salon. read more

I should've know better. I needed my hair done for a wedding and i decided to go to La Salon last minute. I waited for maybe 5-10 minutes, which was acceptable. the problem was with the actual hair do. The girl and i briefly spoke about what i was looking for. She had such great ideas problem was that she under estimated how thick my hair was. Half way through her curling my hair she mentioned she was surprised at how thick it was. As she tried to pin my hair in what it was supposed to be, i felt her hand tremble as she struggled to pin my hair up. I felt so bad for her that i decided to just let her pin it to the side instead of an updoo. And even though i cut her some slack, she didnt cut me any. I didnt get the style i wanted and my head was aching in pain and still got charged $85 dollars. Not cool. Don't get me wrong, the staff at La Salon are very nice; however, Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT come here if you want ombre done. When I told her what I wanted, she insinuated that ombre only looks good with long hair, which is absolutely false (plus, my hair is shoulder length). After about 2 and a half hours, She left me with peekaboo highlights all towards the bottom of my hair... When I finally saw my hair, the stylist realized that it was not what I wanted and Proceeded to say that it will look good when "it is curly". Love this place. Come here every few months for a standard "two inches off, lots of layers and a face frame" cut - never disappoints. Occasionally get my hair dyed to the blackest black they have (wish they had a blue black, but it wasn't available but brought out a swatch of a few blacks to choose from). Super nice staff. Magda is amazing she is the only stylist I've ever come across that actually listens to what you want. We were regular customers for many years, things started to go downhill when out of nowhere,without informing us BEFORE my daughters haircut (same style as always through out the years with the same hairdresser) owner -the bald guy (what he could know about a haircut?, btw has terrible business ethic too) charged the double price for a girls/kid haircut. It is indicated $15-$30 for this service on their price list in store and on their website. We started 4 years ago with $15 then they raised for $25 (which I still accepted) and we just withdrew about a month ago when he charged $45.(!) This is a ridiculous price for a girls short haircut which does not take more than 20 minutes (and let's not forget the location/crowd) Even though they know our numbers,never informed in advance if there were any delays. We were always on time. They never... I get it, +/- 10 minutes is okay, but when customer has timely manner obligations and a confirmed haircut appointment, just don't be 40 minutes late, regardless of the day of the week or at least let us know before we arrive! (aka customer service) We were always happy with the stylist's work though, tipped her and the hair washer well. Due to owner's (mainly the husband's) wrong business moral they lost 2 (my husband and daughter) regular customers. Sure they'll find a way to rip off others. As a finale - next time when my daughter had the same haircut not far from this place I stopped by and presented him (the owner,who can't say hello-goodbye while sitting behind front desk) the $20 receipt and my daughter and I stopped by at hairstylist's station to thank her for the good job she performed throughout the years. read more
