One of the sprinkler valves in our backyard sounded as if it were leaking. We had tried to diagnose at one of our sprinkler heads and replaced it. That seemed to stop the leak at the head itself but not at the sprinkler valve. We found Jose here on Yelp and sent him a Yelp message. He replied quickly, and most importantly, was available! He was able to come out the next day after our initial Yelp conversation, and even earlier than his scheduled appointment time. He was able to diagnose the issue quickly and had a spare part on hand. He replaced the part and explained what the possible issues might be (old gaskets inside the valve, for instance). He also helped re-orient some of the sprinkler heads so they would actually send water onto the grass. Reasonably priced for the work as well. I haven't used their service yet! But I just wanted to say that I had an unusual request. I sent out a message to more than a dozen tree/landscape service contractors asking for bamboo that their other customers might be throwing out. I wanted to be environmental and use the bamboo as decoration for a ninja party and Jose quickly responded that said he would let me know if he got a hold of any. While most others responded that they don't offer the service, Jose was probably the friendliest of the responses and I appreciate it. My project consisted of cutting down 2 trees/overgrown shrubs, removing 2 stumps, trimming 3 trees. Jose and his crew did a good job and he did extra trimming without charging me. They cleaned up afterwards and hauled away the debris. His crew broke a sprinkler pipe when removing one of the stumps but he fixed it before he left. My only issue is that he was very late for my appointment but did respond after I texted him. I can't complain too much because he is very busy and his previous jobs ran over. I think my job also probably ran over because he did extra work. I will call him again when I have more work. read more

Jose gave me a time to meet between 4 and 5 today. I don't live at the address where the work needs to be done and I communicated that. So the response was to meet at 5. I was there from 4:45 to 5:40 and no one showed or texted or communicated at all. It wasn't until I contacted them again later on that the response was they're so busy and wanted to try the next day. This is the second time to hire Jose since I was very satisfied to work with him last time. He complted the lawn conversion on the front and back yard. He has to remove the lawn, level the ground, lay weed clothes, set up bender boards, plant drought tolerant shrubs, finish with decorative gravel and red bark. Jose is really nice to work with and does great work. We had three different yards landscaped and had drip irrigation put in. We were very specific about the general type of plants we wanted (white and yellow flowers only for one yard, tropical garden vibe for another, all plants lower in water requirements), but didn't know which specific plants to get, and he did the work of finding the best plants for our needs. The only warning I would give is that he can be a bit flaky and not show up when he says he will. If you can be a little flexible with when he comes, you will be fine. He went above and beyond and changed the nozzle heads to them to make sure I had good pressure coming out of my sprinklers. José is not responsive, not good at communicating, and our garden is not doing well. My partner and I employed José of La Sierra Landscaping for about a year. We originally hired him to do an overhaul of our front yard, back yard, and cottage gardens, including ripping out old plants, putting in new ones, installing drip irrigation, and shaping the border of our artificial grass. He did a decent job (although many of the plants look quite scraggly now, so I'm guessing the soil was not amended as it should have been). He tried to get out of work he had originally agreed to in our contract, such as trimming our fruit trees. I had to send him a picture of our contract with the item he had agreed to circled in red before he would do it. But our real complaint was with his gardening service. He completely ignored our requests to address things that needed addressing (which we were happy to pay extra for). He has trouble communicating in English so I took pictures of everything I wanted him to address and made comments directly on the pictures. He never responded to them, even though he was prompted twice after that to address them. He had a default list of things he or his employees would do when visiting (mostly blowing), and would miss a lot of things. We are now looking for another gardener. read more

Jose took over weekly maintenance of my yard last year and his team has been doing a great job keeping things looking good. If I ever need anything addressed Jose is always a text away and it gets done right. Recently we had a number of small projects that needed to be tackled (pull a stump, spread 4yds of bark, lay down 500sqft of sod, replace warping lawn border with pressure treated 2x4, move and repair some sprinklers, add some landscape lights). Jose and his crew were great. They worked hard and were professional and showed up on the day that he said they would. We did a small section of concrete to extend our driveway and it turned out great. My only recommendation is that the contract needs to be laid out a little more clearly as I signed for the work to be done and then texted him that payment would be made at the completion of work. Then after the first day of working I was asked for 1/2 payment. This is partially my fault too as I should have asked him to send another contract with payment terms. If they add in total cost and when payments need to be made on the contract this will make everything clear. I would highly recommend the services of LaSierra Landscaping and Gardening. Jose responded to an urgent request to help resolve a leak and a set of sprinkler malfunctions. He quickly gave us an itemized bid. We scheduled the work, which was done well and in a timely manner. As with all large projects, there were a few changes along the way and these were dealt with very well. I never felt that Jose tried to inflate the job - on the contrary - he probably did more than he bargained for, with no complaint. His prices are very reasonable. In fact, when I had an additional task, a plumber had given me an estimate, but Jose did the work for one-third of the price.
