Family friendly (lots of kids) in spite of the fact that the menu is really high quality. Incredibly friendly service. The menu looks a little small at first; a few antipast, a few main courses, literally 3 basic pasta dishes. To me this is always a good sign; a small menu tells me this check wants to do a limited number of dishes really well. And oh boy were these good. We had a simple linguini in a cream sauce with lardons, mushrooms and onions. Not too much dairy, not too salty, perfect flavor and texture, perfect al dente fresh pasta. Just heaven. 99% of cream sauces make a dish too heavy to enjoy and this one was so easy to eat. My wife had a gnocci packed full of roasted veg (beats, broccoli) with pesto and almonds and it was so fresh and warm and nourishing. The pizza was unlike any I've ever had - more sauce than i'm used to and it came UNCUT! I've never had a pizza delivered whole which honestly suprised and delighted me (though I did have them take it back and cut it for me, I was gonna butcher that thing.) The crust was delicious and perfect, simple margarita ingredients were perfect. We were too full to try their tiramisu but I bet it's perfection. The chef's personality was present in every dish, mostly in their simple perfection. This is a neighborhood institution for a reason.

COZY "BYOB" BISTRO w/ AUTHENTIC FRENCH CUISINE…read more In preparing for our recent short Montreal trip, I happened to learn there're quite a few "bring your own bottle" (BYOB) restaurants in town, which was perfect since we were travelling with a few big drinkers :) It is a cozy bistro with a chill vibe. The tables are a bit tight and relatively close to each other. Our server was amazing - despite she needed to serve many tables, overall she took good care of us. We shared two appetizers. The escargots were very rich and creamy, and the salmon tartare was very refreshing. The main courses were the highlight of the night: - Grilled Venison: Tender with hints of "game meat" taste and Foie Gras added more complexity to it. - Duck Confit: Sophisticated flavor and went well with the Cognac cream sauce. - Lamb Shank: Moist and silky finish. We were so full at this point, thus we only ordered one Creme Brulee for sharing. While the texture was very smooth, the caramel top was a bit too thick which affected the crunchiness. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I would certainly recommend this bistro!

To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top.
