I went to La Strada Cafe yesterday and the owner was not at all welcoming. I asked to sit outside but there were no umbrellas on the Patio so I sat inside. It took some time before one of the staff appeared and he wasn't the slightest bit friendly. I asked to see a list of drinks but he said they didn't have one and I asked for soup which was on the menu. The waiter told me that they did not do soup in the summer so I told him that they should state this on the menu. So I ordered the Bruschetta as a side and it took a long time to be served. Came here for our 1st outing as a family during Covid. Heard good things about their outside patio for dinner. I thought it was cute and I was so excited to come. Service was slow & wasn't what I would call friendly. I know it was busy and I get that but I really felt being rude to wasn't called for. Okay that is the reason why I couldn't give this place 5 stars. Now, let's get to the good stuff! The food was great! Worth the wait & worth the crappy service. The Marsala. Great. The pizza. Great. Very nice and authentic Italian restaurant. They offer everything from catering to gelato to a family dinner. They have an outside area as well which is littered with vinery. My family has been coming to La Strada for a very long time and will continue to come. The owners are almost always on site interacting with customers. The Chef was not willing to make an easy substitution of Veal for Chicken with their Chicken Saltimbocca also would not use the Alfredo Sauce (from the Gluten Free Menu) for Raviolis. Leads me to believe that food is prepared earlier and re-heated when ordered. Could not even split the bill between Credit Cards and Cash, we were told had to be all Cash or all Credit... unheard of!!! I'm updating my review after stopping in again and really enjoying my experience. I went with a plain slice and a tomato basil slice. The plain was great. It was your stereotypical thin, crispy base with greasy delicious cheese. The real winner was the tomato basil slice. The sauce on this slice was tremendous. It had a great, rich, fresh tomato flavor that combined with the fresh basil to create a wonderful pizza experience. I've definitely changed my opinion of this spot and will hopefully be back soon! read more

Tuesday evenings weather, offered the 1st opportunity for a summer al fresco dining date. We hoped for wood fired pizza and clams. Unfortunately, I read BLACK BOX ANNOUNCEMENT SIGN that said served during the SUMMER ( NO DISCLAIMER ABOUT SPECIFIC DAYS) but did not watch the video tucked at the bottom of the web site that shares the limited days. C'mon , could you be less TRANSPARENT!!! We should have left. We stayed, and it was a cluster. Flat soda, stale old bread , tasteless; and entrees, stuffed rigatoni and stuffed shells. Awful, orange colored sauce, canned Chef Boy r Dee like. Tasteless, with shells piled high w/cheese hiding mini shells , each forkful was a glob of cheese, tasteless sauce. Riggi's where al dente, clapping but same TASTELESS ORANGE COLOR SAUCE, The $16.95 octopus appy; rubber, tasteless, not fresh, served chopped. No side salad. Server is a sweetheart, so we left a nice tip, but not because of the food! Embarrassing. read more

After being welcomed kindly, we were immediately put off when the owner wouldn't allow our server to seat us outside because the one table left was a 6-top and we were just 3. Needless to say, no parties that large came so the table went empty. Maybe it was our mood at that point, but the food was just okay, nothing special. I live in town, aside from being convenient, La Strada has a cute little outdoor area and average food. HOWEVER, the owners are awful. We've tried ignoring it since we really do want to like it there. But after our last experience, we will not be returning again. I've been here twice and I'd definitely go back. The menu isn't anything different from most other Italian BYOB restaurants, but the food is great! Last night I had the Calamari Salad, Pasta Fagioli and the Insalada Fantasia (from the specials menu). The Calamari was fresh and delicious. It was tossed in a red pepper and celery vinaigrette that was so good we used our bread to soak up every last drop. So good! The Pasta Fagioli was great. I added a bit of crushed red pepper to give it a bit of a kick. The Salad was pretty good (Mesclun greens, pears and walnuts with shaved ricotta salata in a raspberry dressing). I think the dressing got in the way of the amazing ricotta salata that was on it and I don't remember seeing many walnuts. Part of me wished I hadn't gotten it so I could have finished all of my Pasta Fagioli, but I brought them both home for lunch today so I can't complain. I wish I had saved room for a pumpkin Gelati, but maybe next time The restaurant itself is very small but has a great out door seating section. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can go eat outside! I'd love to have a party out there too with shuffle board and horse shoes! read more

This restaurant has amazing Italian cuisine with a family vibe. Everyone knows everyone and so it is a ton of fun. Also the garden in the back for outdoor seating is exquisite. Even better, there's bocce ball court in the back for in between courses! And on the weekend there is a seafood bar which is the best seafood in town! Surprised by this little gem of a place off the beaten path (locals, trying to keep it a secret?) From the outside, you'd never know how big it actually is. The street was packed with cars when we got there and didn't think we'd get a seat. We sat in the enclosed patio area, there was a fairly large party outside. For an appetizer, my husband got the clams oregenato. I tried one; not a fan of the bivalve crustacean, but I tried one. For dinner, he had shrimp and scallops in a spicy marinara over fettuccini, which he loved. I had the veal piccata over linguini. The veal was nice and tender but my pasta was just a little on the bland side. I like a little more lemon in my piccata, but it was delicious nonetheless. Definitely going back and wold recommend giving it a try. read more

Awesome experience. Great atmosphere, the patio is very nice, and the waitstaff treats you like family. I had a veggie lovers personal pizza and it was absolutely incredible. Cheesy, but not too cheesy, and plenty of delicious fresh vegetables. The homemade gelato is NOT to be missed. I had the coconut flavor (kid-sized, which is very generous) and thought I was too full for it after my meal... I was not! We just love La Strada! The staff is excellent and the food is always fantastic! We have been coming to La Strada for years and have never had a bad experience. The owner's are great and always provide a rotating menu of specials throughout the year. This summer we enjoyed the seafood bar....fantastic! Where else will you find grilled octopus and fried zucchini flowers? The portions are excellent and we usually always have food to take home. The atmosphere is very friendly and the owner's and staff make you feel very welcome in a way that you get to know them and other regular customers. Been here multiple times over the past 3 years and it has been pretty good. I especially like the Lasagna and Baked Ziti and sitting out on the patio on a nice evening. So why only two stars? It comes down to the service. At last visit 2 weeks ago my child took one bite of his pasta and smirked because it was WAY undercooked (IE still very hard on the inside...actually crunchy!) so I cordially asked it to be sent back and taken off the bill as we could not wait for another. There are two paths a restaurant can take to handle a quality issue like this and unfortunately LaStrada is knowingly choosing the wrong one when... A) the waitress acted like I was nuts for questioning the food, B) the waitress forgot to take it off the bill so then that had to be dealt with, C) the Owner (who is also a cook and MGR) did not come out and acknowledge the issue. I'd give La Strada another chance but the wife will not :( PS: I cant stand it when waiters/waitresses say "no problem" instead of "OK,coming right up" Why would it be a problem for me to order food from you? read more

My husband and I just left La Strada Café. We have been going to La Strada for ten plus years and have never left hungry or dissatisfied with the food or the service, Tonight we ordered Spinach Ravioli and Gnocchi with a marinara sauce along with a a lovely fresh salad with balsamic dressing. We brought our own bottle of red wine and the bread was warm and delicious. I am a second generation Italian American. I KNOW good Italian food! Through the years the service and staff have displayed excellent customer service and the ability to make everyone that comes through the door fell welcomed. The owners always go out of their way to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere no matter how busy they are. And some nights they are extremely busy. But with a little patience you are rewarded with an amazing dinner. My husband and I look forward to our next dining experience at La Strada Café! read more

WONDERFUL CATERING! Roberto and his staff catered by daughter's graduation party and everyone loved the food. Portions were generous and food was delicious. Everyone asked where we got the food from and ate too much to have dessert. We also go for weekend meals about once a month. We look forward to the good food and friendly atmosphere. Haven't eaten dinner yet and I an ready to leave. Not a friendly crew here. Waitress/wife of the owner is complete you know what. Don't ask for a different dressing on the weekends. The owner/cook/bus boy (yes he did all the while I was there) came out and have some wacky reasoning for not allowing you to even pay for different salad dressing. I thought costumers cone first. Not at this joint. It's a free for all. I had to wipe up my own table when a soda spilled. Food was a six but experience was the worst I had. Both bus boys did more than the waitress. STAY AWAY. Unfortunately I feel like I have to write this one up because of poor customer service. I called in a sausage and pepperoni but when I got home it was sausage and onions. I called back to see what they'd say and, even though they said it was their error, they made no offer to do anything about it. A few months ago while eating in the place my wife's chicken parm sub had a fly on the bottom. We pointed it out and they remade it but when the bill came there was no adjustment or discount. Just doesn't seem like good customer service to me. It's too bad because I think the food is generally pretty good but I'm not interested in wondering if my experience is going to suck. read more

The menu advertises certain dishes with gluten free pasta, however quite simply they just refuse to put in the effort make anything Gluten free that's not on the gluten free menu. We were very disappointed with both the food and the service at La Strada during our visit on June 8th. Our entrée's took 1 1/2 hour from when we were seated to be served. The salads and bread were good, but the main courses and sides of pasta were not hot and did not taste very good. All but three of us are Italian and know Italian food. Our NJ family were very surprised and embarrassed because when they had been to this restaurant on previous occasions the food had been very good. Good enough to choose this restaurant to celebrate a special birthday. Details: My husband and I were visiting from out of town and went to La Strada with a group of friends and family to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation for eleven at 5pm. Upon arrival our party was rudely told that we were mistaken and our reservation was for 6pm not 5pm although we were positive of the conversation and there was plenty of available tables inside and outside. This really set the tone for what was to come. We were seated on the patio and started off with two plates of Antipasti salad and bread for the table. The patio area was pretty buggy and citronella candles would have been appreciated. Those who lived locally raved about the food they had enjoyed at this restaurant over the past couple of months, so they assured us that anything we ordered would be wonderful. While we waited for our dinners we ate our salads (three arrived with missing dressing) and more bread. Our main courses were brought out a long hour and a half after we were seated. From the minute the plates were set down you could tell everyone was disappointed. The guest of honor's spinach ravioli was disappointing - it didn't look or taste as it had just a couple of weeks prior. The sauce on my lukewarm chicken Marsala was bland; the chicken was unseasoned and tough. The marinara sauce on the sides of pasta was so oily it was unappetizing. The only grated cheese available was in a shaker. The waitress could see our disappointment and apologized saying that the food is usually prepared much better and she was sorry our dinners were less than satisfactory. She said that a very large group before us caused the kitchen to be slammed and the under-staffed kitchen was unable to produce the usual quality food. She promised several times that "Robert" was coming right out to talk to us, but he never did. We waited as long as we could, decided to forgo dessert, and pay our bill. The quality of the food is inconsistent. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's awful. I just ordered a pizza, half pepperoni, half fresh garlic, thin crust and well done. When we got it home it had a very thick crust and was not cooked enough. II was one of the worst pizzas I ever had.. It didn't have any red sauce, just a very thick piece of cheese that lifted right off. The garlic was not cooked. It looked like it was added after it came out of the oven. It was tasteless and undercooked. I called to find out if someone different made this pie as it was different from the last ones that were delicious, and was surprised to hear it was the same cook. I let them know that I didn't get the thin crust and well done pizza I ordered and that we were disappointed. He didn't seem to care and said they they would do better next time. Very poor customer service. You don't get what you order, you get what they feel like cooking. This is not the first time this has happened. I'll go some place else next time. read more

Dinner here tonight with 2 other couples. Service horrible, food horrible. Waitress was rude and even yelled at us at one point. When asked to make slight modification to dishes (ie. substitute broccoli rabe for spinach, we were told no!) We waited almost an hour to get our dinner, which was just some pasta dishes. When the food finally came, one person's dish was missing. Instead of apologizing the waitresses told us it wasn't her fault to blame the cook! Bread was stale and food was bland and unappealing.
