    Pastel De Arequipe
    Marni M.

My friends and I popped into here to try some Colombian desserts. We had to get some Pastel De Arequipe, flan, boiled figs with arequipe, and a cookie with, you guessed it, more arequipe. They were unique with my favorite being the Pastel De Arequipe with the buttery layers and crystallized hard shell of sugar on top. The flan was more firm and had a sight citrus taste to it. Our biggest surprise was the boiled fig which was bland but also very sweet. Overall, it's an adorable locally owned shop that I highly suggest others to check out. Staff were friendly with a few long tables set up to sit comfortably and get to know those around you.

The most authentic Latin bakery that I have seen in Boston right near Maverick station. They do everything from hot lunches to baked goods to sweet cakes. Everything is also very affordable. The min charge to pay by card is $10. I got a cheese croissant and it was filled with cheese. I'll be back to try the empanadas and some other savoury goods. You can takeout or dine in. They have a few table and barstools for some in customers. 10/10 would recommend!

We are tourists to Boston, a Spaniard and a Mexican couple, so obvs our level of Colombian knowledge isn't great. With that said, the place was very lively, and you can tell it's a staple to this neighborhood. Everyone came in for breakfast, which was quickly provided. Prices were very fair for the quality of items. The gals behind the counter are clearly hard workers. My husband ordered one of their tamales, and that thing could feed a family of 3. He really liked it but I couldn't get past the texture. We tried empanadas and like a cheese pastry, all very good. The ambiance was very simple but cafeteria style, which helps to meet new people. Seats were kind of uncomfortable though. Overall, we appreciated it.

What a cute little bakery! Seemed like they had all the regular in there this morning. $10 minimum on cards. I had no idea what any of the pastries were because there were no signs so I just got one of each! Everything was delicious. It was about $20 for like 8 huge pastries. They boxed it up so cute as well.

Came across this little Bakery @ 6:30am Saturday morning, after a long night of Ubering around the city of Boston. Needed some strong coffee, a pick me up bite to eat, something other then Dunkin' Donuts. This was the only place opened around the immediate area. Cafe Con Leche was strong and delishhh. Got a tiramisu, slice of flan and an arepa to go. Will update this review once I try them Most international food joints come stocked with rude employees that act impatient in helping a customer who is not from their country. But the service ladies at this place were extremely helpful and were very nice to me, seeing as I was unsure of what some food items were. So, A+ for that! Definitely would feel welcomed to come back! Also, they have a $10 minimum for debit/credit card use. So bring cash if you're looking to just grab a coffee (cafe con leche). I only had my debit card on me. Ordered a large coffee and a slice of flan but that wasn't enough since it had to be $10. Shocked to see how low their prices are! Was able to get an arepa, piece of tiramisu cake and still hadn't hit the mark yet -- it came to $9.10 + gave a $1.00 tip so I didn't need to add another piece of cake to my waist line this summer. lol. The owner should definitely price items higher, seeing as it's in a prime spot and anywhere else would cost double for the same bakery items. But hey, it works for us poor people! haha.

Friendly and efficient staff serving up legit Colombian food. Portions were huge. Grabbed some almojábanas and buñuelos to go. All excellent!

Chicharron was great. - Arepa: looks like a tortilla, so not the typical thick arepas I'm used to. So felt like I paid $8 just for a tortilla and small block of cheese - Tostones con guacamole: I prefer my tostones to be crispier, but they had great taste. - Cazuela de Mariscos: Great flavor. I put it on top of rice and enjoyed it with the other food, otherwise too heavy/dense on it's own. I didn't enjoy the mussels (I love mussels). They were too gritty.

Doesn't have that rough Spanish restaurant vibe you sometimes get in Chelsea or East Boston. Much more upscale. People like that. The servers were very nice. Helpful, attentive, really great. Now, the runner who brought the food didn't seem to be in the best mood. That's alright. It happens. Prices were decent. The menu offers a lot, from full Colombian appetizers to full meals. Even has a kids section. My son ordered chicken wings and French fries. The chicken wings were delicious, juicy, perfectly done. For appetizers we had fried cheese with pineapple sauce and fried plantain with shrimp in a criollo sauce. Delicious, really fantastic. My wife ordered the sancocho de res, and she totally enjoyed it. I ordered a mixed plate with white rice, beans, tostones, onions, peppers, beef, and shrimp. Absolutely incredible. The tres leches was also terrific. Very well done. But then a group of six rowdy individuals came in. Completely destroyed the nice, chill mood. Total disaster. They were animals, folks. Total animals. Loud, obnoxious, so bad that a table of people actually decided to move completely outside just to get away from them. That's how disruptive they were. At that point, an employee should have stepped in and said, "We're glad you're enjoying yourselves, but there are others here trying to enjoy their meals too." It was out of control. Overall, a strong 4.6 stars.
