Stopped by for lunch and the food was great. The staff is friendly and we received our food quick. I also did my grocery shopping and the prices were much better compared to other stores in the area. On saturday I bought 30lbs of carne asada and spent $525. When i got home almost half of it was a cheap cut of meat and super tough. I contacted them immediately. They said to bring in a picture of the meat and my receipt and they would adjust the amount on the correct price per pound. I let them no i wouldnt be able to come in till monday as we were having a big party that day and i worked the next day. The manager said that was fine. When i got here today they are trying to argue with me and not give me difference so i basically paid $15.99 per pound for meat that should have been $7.99 per pound. I wont be coming back read more

Stopped for a quick lunch before heading home. Went in for a burrito but seeing the bakery I decided to go with a Carne Asada Torta (sandwich). The bread is soft, Carne Asada (steak) is cooked well. Came with cheese, lettuce, sauce, tomato & onion & avocado. They also had fresh drinks available, Lemonade, Jimaca, Horchata & Watermelon which is always nice. I ordered Jimaca not too sweet, perfect balance. Next time I'm in the area, I will stop in for a burrito!! Their bakery looked amazing too. read more

I bought 4 pork tamales yesterday, 09/04/202. One was halfway decent, the other three distasteful. One had 2 pieces of meat, the other just pure masa w/o meat and other was gross looking. That tamale looked like a babies diaper. One side was pure mass and other side looked like a diaper w/baby crap. We threw that away. 5 months ago my auntie bought half dozen, most were pure dry w/o more than 3 pieces of meat. Will never buy tamales from there again. read more

Went to their Taqueria today and usually they're on point with their food. Lately, they've been missing the mark. One of these big points is listening to their customers. Ordered a burrito without cilantro because my stepdad is one of those folks who hates the taste of it. Even though it was requested to remove this item, it was still placed in there. It wasn't like they were busy. It's happened multiple times. Their register person either needs to write it down or their food prep folks need to read the orders. You can't call them to complain because they don't answer the phone. Something has got to change. read more

I frequent this store 2-4 times/week for Meat and Seafood. They have some of the freshest products. I buy Basa Fillet, Pig Feet, Carnitas, Oxtails. I have now had a 2nd negative experience here yesterday. I went to get some Basa. I was standing in front of the Basa. There were 2 guys and 1 female working in the meat, seafood dept. The guys were busy assisting customers already. The female was pretending to be busy. She made eye contact with me twice, never attempted to assist me. I had been waiting for a while, was getting tired if standing there and she wouldn't help. She was not with a customer. So, I googled how do you say Can I please have some assistance in Spanish. One if the guys heard me, pointed at me, told her to help me. So, she finally came over to me. I asked her if may please have 6 Basa Fillet and I pointed to the ones I wanted. Instead of her giving me what I asked her for, she just started putting other fillets in the bag. I didn't want those, because of the color, I told her that. She got additudeinal, started throwing fillets in the bag. I told her I didn't want the ones she put in the bag. She kept acting like she didn't understand me. So I asked, you're not going to take the other ones out? She took them out, started throwing the fillets around in the case. You're just going to give me what you want, instead of what I want? I told her I'm done, I don't want you helping me. By then one of the guys was available, I asked him to assist me. This particular guy is always nice, helpful I asked her Como te Llamas por favor? She told me her name is Maria. I reported her the Susanna, Mgr in duty. I walked w/ Susanna to the Meat Dept showed her who I had issue with. When I got to the register Susanna came to me, advised me that the lady's name is "Adriana" not Maria. Ok, that means she lied to me because she told me her name was/is Maria. I asked Susanna why did she lie about that? Susanna said she had no idea why she did that. I know why, because she knew I was going to complain about her foul disposition, inadequate, unacceptable customer service. She knew if I told them Maria, they wouldn't know who that was. Would probably tell me there's no one in the Meat,Seafood Dept named Maria. This was a piss poor experience, she obviously understood me when I asked her to take the discolored fillets out of the bag . She just didn't want to assist me point blank. Yes, I'm a person of color, and that's irrelevant. My $ is the same, never refused for payment of goods I purchase there. Most importantly, were all the same, part of the human race!!!! I should never feel or be treated like a second class citizen or like they think more of the scum on the bottom of their shoes than they do of me. Susanna assured me she would relay the situation to Guillermo the Store Manager when he returned today. I went back today to confirm with Guillermo and Susanna, and she did exactly what she said. Guillermo apologized repeatedly, said that Adriana is off today & tomorrow but he will address everything with her. He wants to make sure that everyone that shops there is treated the same. I'm sick and tired of being treated like this when I shop here. I've been tempted to stop shopping there, but the meat, seafood is the best I have found in Pittsburg CA. And the store is conveniently located. One good thing that came out of it I know that Guillermo will follow through. And if she acts like that with me again, she'll be gone, and rightfully so!!!! If I could find a local Market in the vicinity that had fresh Seafood,Meat Dept, I would NEVER go back to La Superior. read more

This security guard is discriminate to other race. At 7:40pm on September 14th. Once enter The market he ask me to take off my bag pack purse and put it under the grocery bag area. When anyone can take my personal belonging and there is no other bag pack there too with no locks. My friend that is Hispanic ask him why... and he said That I can't bring any back pack inside unless you have medicine in the bag, my friend even told him... he can look inside and he said no. Sooo.. we decided to walk out and a min later another Hispanic person walk in with a back pack purse. He didn't stop her or told her to put it away. We were watching. This is when he made me really upset and blow my mind how unfair and discriminate he is. I never heard of any market to tell their customers to put there bag to the side while shopping! Horrible experience purchased a gallon of milk Wednesday night by the time we got home and opened it , it was absolutely awful so we checked the expiration date and it was September almost a month old . So we come back to return it and told an employee on the side so customers wouldn't hear us because that's disgusting and didn't want to embarrass the store so she comes back with a manager and instead of apologizing he claims we brought milk from a different store because he claims he constantly checks his products . Instead of accepting his mistake he blamed it on us absolutely horrible . I like this market, it's smaller than Cardenas but also has items that Cardenas does not sell. I was able to find bottled aji sauce which I can't find anywhere else. The bakery is also a delicious area. Meat dept has been friendly and reliable. Also huge assortment of spices. read more

Thank you Yelp for reminding me that many businesses are doing theIr best during this time of COVID. Thats why I decided to give those place another try, because it may not be easy doing customer service during this time. However, it should be a little easier with businesses closing all around us. The first time I came into this grocery store I received the same icy welcome I did before. As though this was a market just for Hispanic people...friendly to everyone else, but acted like I was an intruder in their establishment. Yes, that should gave been my first and last visit. I just believe in second chances. Anyway, I visited La "Superior" Super Market again today to pick up eggs. When I approached the register I asked the young man if he was open. He barely said yeah. He proceeded to scan my item. So I said hello, and with his head turned gave me my total. So I said hello again, and he gave me my total again. So... I waved and said hello, and he really didn't want to say anything to me, but finally mumbled hi. I told him that he needed to speak to his customers. He just ignored me and put my eggs to the side until I said, " Yes, I would like a bag." When it was time to give me my change, which was $4.01 he gave me $4 and said that he didn't have any more pennies and is that okay? Now any other time of course it would have been fine, but not today. I told him that he didn't when want to speak to me, and yes its a penny but its my penny so go ask someone else. He threw the bags he had in his hand to the side went to another register to get it, and the young lady pick one up off the floor and gave it to him to give to me. I just told him to have a blessed day. The majority of their customers are Hispanic, but treat all your customers the same, especially those who are trying to be nice. My mom and I stopped by La Superior this weekend to buy a couple of whole chickens to smoke for a barbecue. It had been about a year since I had shopped at this store, and to my surprise they have expanded their meat, dairy, and bakery cases. They have a beautiful selection of fresh meats & seafood, and many of their items appear to be dry-marinated, with spices instead of oil/butter/other random fats! This is definitely exciting for a weight watcher such as myself. I will definitely stop here on my next shopping trip! read more

Typical paisa market with all your favorite paisa products...I got to check this place when I first pulled into town...I had driven up from San Diego and had been fasting for ramadan...the valley was a virtual hell to cross....went in here and got two powerades to break the fast.... You'll find parking but parking lot is a busy one. The store has a restaurant right at the front. Good size grocery store and carts are always stocked. They have an area where they sell cheeses & sour cream. They will cut the sandwich meat fresh. The meat per pound is cheaper here . The produce seem to be fresh. A lot of the registers were open. Staff was helpful. They didn't have their refrigerator stocked with paletas I was kind of mad about that. The air conditioner was off . I'm not sure if it was broken or what but I felt so bad for the people that worked there. That's the two reasons why they got a 4 star and not a 5. I would rather go to a place with air conditioning but in the winter I'm there. Overall good Mexican market. read more

I had always Driven right past this store on my way to the" Majestic'' Mi Pueblo Super Mercado.. Being that I was a bit turned off by there lack of cleanliness last time I was there I decided to try this place and let me just say WOW !!! Very Impressive there prices are Half if not less than Mi Pueblo Love It !!! It is a lot smaller but Bigger sometimes is not better as it happens to be in this case check them out. Meat Dept is a 8 out of 10 there I would suggest a number ticket system since its kinda hard to get service when people just cut infront of you. I usually shop at Mi Pueblo so this place is a few notches lower in quality. When we walked in, this NASTY, STANK-FISH odor slammed into our faces like whoa!! Not a good sign because you shouldn't be able to smell fish from that far away, but we weren't there for fish so... sorry for whoever purchased fish that day. They had what we were looking for in stock (beer, wine) which we located quickly. However, checking out was crazy, especially since there was ONE person ahead of us!! The chic couldn't figure out how to run a card correctly. We almost left without purchasing at all, but FINALLY and just in time another chic came to help. They have expanded the meat area with a freestanding refrigerated deli island by the meat area. It's got the sausages, lunch meat, cheese, guac, ceviche, yogurts, mole. It looks like they may have expanded the meat counter selections because these used to be over by the rest of the meats. Probably more pre-marinated and seasoned offerings. The bakery items have also been moved to their own freestanding case. This is a nice store. read more

I love La Superior Supermarket and their food court. Their burritos taste better than the ones in Mi Pueblo and their churros are better too. Sometimes the super-burrito combo (with a drink) is only $4.99 when it's on sale. It's unbeatable! I love Mi Pueblo too for some unbeatable prices on groceries. La Superior, te amo! Check it: it's a pretty standard Mexican supermarket, w/ everything you need if you want to cook Mexican food (or want to pretend like you can). Also a taqueria. Also awesome bakery. Also, you may get strange looks if you're a guera, but what can you do? Truth be told, though, La Superior is frequented by patrons of all colors--I'd guess largely as a result of its exceedingly reasonable prices. Also, being a Mexican market, it has cuts of meat (tripe and tongue, for example) that may not be readily available at your standard chain supermercado, so if that's your thing (as a vegetarian, it's not mine), this is a good place in the East County to go. There's also a much wider variety of Mexican cheeses than is found at standard supermarkets, so you can indulge your taste for more than just queso fresco. Still, the products are, understandably, targeted towards a Latino clientele, so La Superior proves a great place to go for WHATEVER spices, ingredients, etc, that aren't easy to find at other markets. And, because it IS a supermarket, it also carries all of the regular ingredients that you'd expect from a "normal" supermarket. Only with a lot of Mexican candies and baked goods. And, really, you can't go wrong with either. The lines are always pretty substantial for the bakery and taqueria, so I have to assume that both are good. The only thing I've eaten from the taqueria was vegetarian tacos, and, while decent enough, they paled in comparison to the delightful tofu-filled vegetarian taco delights I've tasted at other locations. I can't hold that against La Superior, though. Anywhere that can sate my desire for a variety of tamarind and chile candies is a-okay with me. read more

DONT SHOP HERE! First I'd to say this market is ridiculous, the security is unbelievable. They do not go based off of race alone but also by speculation. I would say they are racist but I'd be lying since my sister in law is obviously Mexican. We came to this super market to buy food since it was the Friday after ash Wednesday we bought seafood. We did buy at least $30 worth of shrimp. Then immediately went into the produce area to get veggie to cook with it. Although, I look White American, my mother is Central American so I do understand and speak Spanish. I over heard the produce guy get on his phone after it rang and he said Yes, I have them in sight. I was thinking "I wonder who he's talking about" We continued to shop but did notice the produce guy was kind of watching us. But since we weren't stealing anything I just thought LOSER. Then as we left and went straight to the cashier, although she was very polite, the cashier behind her was checking yet staring at us mumbling something. Then I overheard the cashier say no it's not working out loud behind me, as if in code when I looked back it was the security guard rushing into what looked like an office. I continued to pay not putting anything together. it wasn't until after I left when I mentioned it to my sister in law. At this moment she confirmed everything I observed and felt. I was livid! I called to speak to a manager, no manager on duty and when I accused them of the disrespect and how they made me feel they hung up on me several times or left me on hold. I would recommend everyone shop at Mi Pueblo, this place this unbelievable, No one should ever feel like that. Just so you all have a clue as to how I looked. I only had gym clothes on and a fitted hoodie my sister in-law only had on gym clothes and no hoodie. Neither of us had purses or any bags. My niece was with us yet we didn't have a diaper bag. So I ask, Where the HELL was I supposed to stuff 6 pounds of shrimp, plantains, or sodas? These people need to get out of Pittsburg or hire a new security guard. This place has very reasonable prices, service is very friendly, their products are always fresh ans they have the best cakes/ mexican bread in the area, its not always very crowded like other local Mexican stores so you dont have to wait so much in line to order meat, or order pastry or even to pay. Worst place ever! I am very disappointed. It was my first time going there. I was excited to see how they had so many things, traditional foods and it looked clean. The cashier was very nice. We bought a good amount of asada for tacos and it was the worst asada ever. I think eating plastic is better than that asada. I don't understand how can they sell that asada, and the worse thing is that they probably use it to cook there. Worse experience ever! I came in to the store to buy some Meat and other little things. I also got a couple of cookies from the bakery. I was paying for our food when all of a sudden The cashier told me that she was sorry, but that someone one told her that I had put a something in my purse. It's smaller than Mi Pueblo, my parents used to love to shop here for veggies and fruits and they also loved the bakery. Prices aren't bad and it is less crowded. I don't know much about majority on the shelves, but employees always try their hardest to explain what some of the merchandise are which I appreciated.
