Went to this store for a last minute purchase, NEVER GO HERE. They rob from the people. This one example shows they charge twice the price as Walmart. This store appears clean. 1 star for that. However, the food is awful. I've given it three chances and it's not happening ever again. Their food is so dry and tastes like it's been there for weeks. The masa on the tamales is so over cooked, I couldn't even eat it. There's no meat in it, and it is like taking a mouthful of sand. Awful. The posole tastes like it has been sitting on their counter for over a week. Good news First: The store is clean, the panaderia has great pan dulce. Not so Good news: The prices for groceries were outrageous! A pack of capri suns that normally cost $1.99 were priced at over $4.00. For being in a low income community I would have expected more affordable products, not to be preyed upon for lack of alternatives. Very disappointing. I hate complaining but I've given this place so many chances & yesterday was it. The cashiers are always in a bad mood & there is always only one cashier opened with the line almost down the aisle. I didn't bring my reusable bags, so I was fine with buying them. I had a lot of stuff. I just wish they would bag the groceries first & then charge you for the bags, they charge for the bags towards the end anyways. No usen esta tienda para mandar dinero a Mexico!! I have used this store a few times to try and use their money services to send money to Mexico. Their system is always having issues ( please don't use this store ) today I went in and I was told I couldn't send money. I asked for help to figure out the issue. The employee who helped me first was nice enough to give me a phone number to talk to a customer service agent. I called customer service agent to figure out the problem the agent couldn't help me so I asked to talk to their supervisor who asked me to go back in the store and ask for the error code. A different employee came to the counter and refused to give the code and refused to try and send the money again!! that rude short lady with a braid who I assume is a supervisor just walked out and left me standing there! I asked another employee for the store manager and no one came. I filed a formal complaint against The superior with the money service company. I went there for the first time to purchase a tres leche cake for my sons' Birthday. The cake tasted old that no one ate it. The next morning I called the store & spoke to the Manager. He told me he had never received a complaint regarding his cakes. He wanted me to take him a piece so he could taste it. Well I would not recommend this place,i have been there several times and i thought maybe it was just one of those days but maybe its time not to patronize them anymore. For instance, people are rude, many of your average grocery items are operpriced, and it seems like workers there dont follow customers request, and they seemed to be disrespectful in their attitude if you are not of the same race. First of all speak spanish, but in many situations when i go shopping and there are spanish speaking individuals they seem to assume i dont speak the language or im from another race. For example, i will request an item and i have to sometimes listen for a bit to these employees speaking unpleasant things or look at us like maybe i should not be shopping at the mexican store. It really irritates me that companies allow this from their own employees, second of all i am a firm believer that if you are going to have your employees in the front of your store representing you then it needs to show that. I speak both languages and they should do the same. speak english also out of respect to some of your customers that dont speak spanish. I love this store! I live in a town in the mountains that is not very diverse and it is almost impossible to get fresh Mexican food or product. I happened across this store by accident and I couldn't have been more happy! Everything in the meat department looked super fresh. But the happiest surprise for me was the bakery. I was shocked to see them actually making gummy bears from hand. Not something you'd see in my local Safeway. I love pan dulce and their selection was out of this world. It was soft and fresh. My little boy was in heaven. Lastly, I was able to get some corn tortillas that were different than anything I can get in my little town. Every time I try to make enchiladas with Safeway tortillas, they crack. Not the ones freshly made at La Superior. They were soft and flavorful.
