    Fish counter employees

With the current culture and climate of the US today you would definitely think that people would be careful not to offend or mistreat people of color in this day and age especially if you'd like to keep your stores open and your employees to make a living. But the way I was treated today at this Asian market makes me see why they are calling for a boycott of their stores. I came to the fish counter and was completely ignored in favor of other Asian customers very BLATANTLY I feel so disrespected and so hurt by this especially since this has been one of my favorite stores to shop at but today my feelings are hurt to be so disrespected by these employees at the fish counter, I shouldn't have to go and get a manager in order to be provided with service. I'm sad to say I'll probably never come back and seek other options from now on. If your black and go to the fish counter....prepare to be ignored and have Asian customers step up beside and be assisted first. Seems to be a right of passage or something with how in your face it was. BEWARE BLACK DOLLARS MEAN NOTHING HERE.

Here to grab some vegetables to make Cahn chua ( Vietnamese sour soup ) fresh herbs like saw leaf and rice paddy herbs were fresh and reasonably price . Pineapple had some dark rings and soft, looks about it's on its last leg . Chicken thighs priced at $1.99 lb. In the glass case were a bit steep for me . Same with the pork shoulder it doesn't look too good. Decided to drive to Winco 5 minutes away to buy pineapple , chicken and pork. I did grab 3 Boxes of mangoes 6 pc. $11.99 and some ong choy, tofu, tomato and beansprouts to make the sour soup .

We come here once in a while to get some of the things that are harder to find at a typical grocery store. Tomorrow is the lunar new year and when we stopped here today, it was packed! There is always an odor here but it's worth putting up with to get what we need, however it seemed extra bad today. We were unable to find the large incense we were looking for but I believe we got everything else we needed. They did have a lot of specialty items out for the new year and some decorations which were cute. Although it was busy, it didn't take too long to check out but you do pay more for certain items here as they don't carry them everywhere.

Pretty expired items on the shelf still (8/2023)

I give this grocery store some points for having a few hard to find and rare items but definitely zero points for pretty expired items still on the shelf. SF supermarket is a chain and luckily they're all usually set up the same which is helpful. I haven't been to Stockton in a very long time so this was a nice stop for me and I was super excited when I found the "lau thai" hot pot mix. I originally bought a packet from Vietnam in January 2023 and have been looking since. I know there aren't many other Asian markets in town and I believe this is one of the big and the most familiar one. Just be diligent about checking the expiration dates on stuff you buy from here.

Busy store for any of ur Asian food needs. I buy all my fresh fish from here & they have any fish u likely can think of, it's kinda overwhelming (all the different fish). Live crab, crawfish, lobsters, frogs, fish.. all here. They have other fresh meat too (chicken/beef/pork). And, it's clean! Prices are great and if it's busy you have to grab their attention like ur on the stock exchange but they'll get to u eventually. They also fry whatever u buy right there if u want.

I'm not sure about you, but for me one of the biggest barriers to eating more vegetables is that I have to chop them. SF market offers some pre-prepped vegetables that are all cut just right and fresh. I just love shopping their vegetable department. I still haven't been able to get one of the fried on site fish yet because there's always a line. But have I mentioned, they have EVERYTHING! Go now!

I called to ask some items but they couldn't comprehend. I think they should put someone that can assist the customer.

Ask the Community - SF Supermarket

    Do they have live catfish?

What are the store hours during COVID? I called but no one answered

I believe they are open regular hours!

Is there a deli section with Chinese BBQ pork and roast duck?

Hello! No, they do not have a Chinese Deli here. They only have groceries, produce, meat, and other grocery items.

Are u guys open tomorrow? I came this afternoon u guys are close

They are currently open! Went today.

Do they have stuff for sushi here?

Yes they do! They have seaweed wraps, imitation crab as well as anything else you would need to make sushi. I'm pretty sure they have sushi rice as well but not certain.

I'm pretty sure they do... They sell a lot of the Filipino Soy sauces, banana ketchup, and more there.

    Do they carry crawfish?

Pretty upscale market with a nice deli and bakery for this area. I'd say real close to Whole Foods…read morequality and the prices match. But this local indy store has been around in this town for over 55 years, so it is well deserved for them to be a local fave. I only got a sandwich for the road and a bakery item, so no significant grocery shopping. I was traveling back home and didn't have a cooler so I refrained. But next time if I have a cooler, their meat counter will get exercised. Got a Salami Sandwich ($11/4*) from their deli and it was pretty solid. Every sandwich is customized, so every customer fills out a card, checks off your preferences and hand it over to a deli clerk. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just your basic sandwich stuff, but with quality and fresh ingredients. I liked everything in my sandwich, was even to put alfalfa sprouts in it, as I haven't had that option in over a decade. I wished there would have been an option to add oil n vinegar to make it more 'Italian' tasting, so I had to settle on just mayo and mustard, which is more classic American tasting to me. Still a solid sandwich that I was able to eat in 2 intervals so a decent value in my book. Coffee Crunch Cake ($7/3.5*) Very impressive tall cake with a very moist crumb. A little too industrial tasting for me but better than other grocery cakes like Safeway, which taste like plastic to me, so many additives and stabilizers. Cake part had a light chocolate taste, but maybe it was supposed to be more coffee-like? I couldn't taste any coffee except for this super hard and sweet candy on top used for garnish. Indeed that candy offered a 'crunch' element but in a very cloying and awkward way. Sure it was nice and glossy and even resembled shiny coarse stone like obsidian. But to take a bite that big of hard candy to go along a delicate cake was just too extreme for me. I think if that candy were in smaller chunks, more like a crumb texture, it would disperse more sending coffee flavor more evenly and not risk breaking a tooth on that hard sweet candy. I had higher hopes for this. Gawked at their butchers counter and it was pretty darn impressive, Pretty high quality stuff but also insanely expensive. Steaks start at $20 per pound and easily rises double to triple from there. But they got some serious cut steaks here, like 2-3 inch thick cuts and they even have a couple versions of wagyu steaks. Nothing is prewrapped, everything has to go through a clerk. Produce section just meh and regular. Well kept but Safeway may have a more extensive produce section. Dry goods definitely Whole Foods level. They seem to have a guy out front bbqing meats like sausages and tri-tip, like 7 days a week, which is impressive. I got there around 11 am and the employee was just setting up. Otherwise I may have tried something. Cool store, that if this were in my town, I'd be a reg. Since I was just a passing traveler, just call me impressed.
