Im a long time customer of this store however lately this store is getting bad. People are allowed to bring in their non service dogs while shopping they even have a sign posted stating only service dogs allowed. There is more homeless people hanging around the store begging for money and no one from the store does anything about it. Used to love coming here their pizzas were such a great buy for the price and definitely slept on.. years passed and noticed the taste in pizza being different. Recently ordered some pizzas and came back home to bite into RAW pizza dough and RAW SAUSAGE :( tried to get to talk to a manager or someone who could help us fix the issue but not only were they very hesitant and rude it was like they didnt believe me? The Prices Were Perfect!!! And, the fact it's employee owned helps me with my mission. They had everything I needed with the exception of peanut oil so I was forced to go to Safeway . This location needs major improvement. They need to expand size of the store to accommodate the excessive amount of people that shop here. They also need to stop letting their produce rot and be more organized just in general. Another thing that has been a big problem lately is the meat. I don't ever buy steak here because it always has a funny smell and taste. Makes me wonder if they try to sell old meat but find a way to make it look fresh. So this place is a joke to start with they don't even take credit cards or tap pay. I went to pay for my items and I tried to do a split pay. It wouldn't take my credit card so I tried to cancel an item off of my order so that I could use my debit card to pay for it at that point the customer service representative came over and froze the machine. I waited for almost 15 minutes for a lead cashier to come and cancel out the order on the frozen machine. She came finally said that she gave me the money back said it put it back on my card and gave me some receipt. Well there's no pending return on my bank statements and now I have no money so this place is a joke to steal $10 from someone is ridiculous so no I don't recommend this place. Ive been shopping here for 28 years. And my parents have been shopping for more than that. And we have always gotten pizza from this location. They have shut this down and do not offer pizza anymore. They say they dont have mushrooms or bell peppers or anything but its a grocery store? No other winco has done this and stockton location is the only one. Love Winco but has been changes. Loved the driverless floor cleaner, it got stuck in the aisle blocking customers and employees just walking by it. So the prices here are super cheap. It has a very large and not well lit parking lot so I try to get here before dark when I go. Today I didn't make it but I was able to park pretty close to the entrance. The parking lot is ALWAYS dirty and the clientele is similar to our Walmart's and dollar stores. But if you are buying large quantities of non perishables this is the beat price you will get. So my advice is go during the day and go during non-peak hours and on days that do not include the first three days of the month of days in which food stamps are distributed as the lines will be longer and parking will be horrible. read more

Produce department always looks fresh and well stocked. And the bulk bins are plentiful and nicely maintained. Meat department has numerous cuts and varieties to suit every persons needs. Moving from the Bay I do miss FoodsCo & Foodmax those were my go to grocery stores! Winco is just like, except they offer a lot of bulk items at reasonable prices which I enjoy! They do not accept credit cards, so be cash/debit/check/ebt/wic ready when you pay! Large parking lot, carts both inside & out. They have self checkout (15 items or less!) They've got a produce, deli, meats, freezer section, canned goods, cleaning, pet food/items, drinks, etc. The bulk items section has things ranging from candy, nuts, cereal, oats, beans. They've even got a bird & dog food section! How neat. They've got a big deli/seafood section! They carry alot of different types of meat. They just remodeled the freezer section so many more options. They've got 2 water machines and sell the 5 gallons here so that's convenient! This place can get packed, you just have to know what days and times are good to come. Just started coming back to Winco about a month ago now. Love their deli and meats section. I definitely feel as though. We are saving when we come here. And a lot of the times I find things here that I would not find at another grocery. Although always packed it seems to be worth the wait for what we are paying. Store stays clean for the most parked and definitely shelves are well stocked. They have always been specific on the choice of payments. Debit cards cash and EBT only from what I recall. Winco Stockton Ca. has good products. Unfortunately, they hire very miserable people to work with the public. Compared to Modesto Ca who hires helpful hard working staff. The attitude on these department people is deplorable. Today at the bakery, the worker was not happy I asked a question, "When do the bagels come out?" Those were fighting words because she viciously said, in a minute because I was interrupting her conversation with another employee. La la la when she was good and done, she rolled out the cart. I pointed out the ones I wanted and she was mad that I had specific ones I wanted. She harshly said, don't touch the cart, which I wasn't doing, I was only pointing from a distance. I wasn't going to risk any fingers from this mad piranha. She insisted all the very white ones that didn't look baked enough were exactly the same as the golden brown ones. New compostable bags are great. Prices are noticeably lower than other stores in Stockton, produce turn-over is rapid so generally quite fresh. Most bulk items are less expensive than in packages and there are many options for spices/herbs and rubs as well as grains, flours, etc. Excellent variety of different foods for different cultures, though lamb is harder to find. Fresh baked whole wheat bread is very inexpensive and also tasty. The list of attributes goes on. Even has many self-checkout stands to speed things along. read more

Customer service sucks and the produce is being overcharged at the register. I was gonna buy the butternut squash for $0.68 per lb., but when I rung it up at the register is charged $.088 per LB. The 2 ladies at the main register said they couldn't fix the price and went to find a lead cashier, who then supposedly called someone from produce to come fix it. The cashier told me again 15 minutes later that someone from produce had been called.. I saw some dude in produce standing there for about 10 minutes... he never made his way down to self checkout. So finally after waiting for 20 minutes, I told the cashier to remove the item from my cart. I'll but it from a different store. This whole thing makes me wonder if this price discrepancy is actually happening with all the goods at Winco. I have no serious complaints about WinCo. We have shopped here for years. We usually go once or twice a month though we used to go more. We basically go to stock up on certain items that we cannot get at Costco or grocery outlet. We found WinCo to be best bang for the bike when it comes to canned goods, please, and a number of other general groceries. The store is reasonably clean and the produce is usually fresh. I do have a few criticisms. First of all, we ended up with a pantry moth infestation after buying grains from their bulk bins. Also, the Stockton location has a slightly rougher clientele from time to time. We have never had a problem here but I do tend to be on heightened guard while here. read more

Last time I checked was the first time I ever even checked to begin with, and this says too many. I don't know about you but when I was a kid I would only let me mom drag me to winco if she got me pizza while I was there. Now that I'm older my husband does the same thing to me. We always stop for a slice and it's a lot like Costco pizza but winco has grown a lot and offers a lot of different grab and go options now that I enjoy pretty often. When you walk in head straight to the back and they have lots of prepped meals. I like all the chicken dishes and the pizzas are nice to freeze and eat through the weak. Most importantly they offer sushi now which is pretty even in quality to the sprouts deli sushi. They offer a nice variety and it's fresh. When I don't want heavily processed foods from drive throughs I stop here and pick myself up some lunch every now and again. Yea I'm giving it five stars but not in comparison to a real restaurant. It's 5 stars for what it is because as someone who's had a lot of premade food from places like Walmart, save mart, and sprouts a lot of the times they say made daily but end up being moldy or bad and I have never had that issue at winco. With a husband and two teen-age boys to feed, you better find a grocery store that carries a lot of products and at the same time affordable. Between Costco and WinCo we were able to make it. Well, times have changed; the boys are grown and on their own and unfortunately, my husband has passed away and it's just me now. But these two stores work for me still. I went to Food 4 Less one evening just to buy a jar of spaghetti sauce and they were selling some other brand that I never heard of. They didn't have a variety like WinCo; I was very, very upset. Ended up going to another store further away from home and there again, they were limited and no variety, ended up buying another brand, but dish came out well. Yesterday evening upon arriving at store location after work. I seen that customer service had just closed at 2200 hrs. It was 2203 and I asked the cashier who had been working in the area if I could still make an alcohol purchase because normally if the area is closed then the lead clerk or manager on duty either escorts the customer to make selection or retrieves item from behind locked gate. This is been the practice for years and I've shopped at this location for many years and almost every night after work. The Lead Clerk on duty was Layana Murphy and denied me a purchase because she claimed she wasn't about to get in trouble for getting something from behind the gate after 10pm and that I had to wait until tomorrow morning. Which I explained to her that that was not the policy and had not been since forever. I called Corporate Office as well as another WinCo to inquire about the policy of alcohol purchase after customer service has closed for the evening or was closed during the day due to staff shortage. I was told that as long as store was still open and it was 2am that Alcoholic beverages could still be sold as long as a Supervisor retrieved or was present for customer. And that No Access only applies to Money Orders or register transactions. I think that The Lead Clerk on Duty Layana Murphy needs to be retrained and not bring personal issues to work. Today 11/23/2021 I went to self check out.. I began to ring up my food and I didn't realize there was a sign that said no turkeys no hams by the time I saw the sign I had already rang up all of my groceries and called for help the young lady came over to me and said she would try to get someone to ring me up since it was only one thing. I asked to speak to a manager and he turned right around and said "I'm right here" As if he knew what was going on... before I opened my mouth. He was a short Asian descent with cornrows he was very rude and obnoxious to be a manager so I asked to speak to another one Alexander came and quickly handled the situation nicely walked me over to customer service and rang me up for the one turkey. So we know now why Alexander is a manager because he knows how to solve the problem this other gentleman went out of his way to be nasty to me and he made sure that I could see his name tag but I could not read the name it was not in English this is not the first time I've had to deal with his rude Behavior. maybe he's Not ready more management because Alexander was able to solve my problem within two seconds and this other gentleman went out his way to make me wait purposely and smiled the whole time and not a happy smile I know the difference. read more

This is a nice store as long as you get there early, you have to beat the druggies and welfare lot lizards. The produce is very good. It's hard to beat the prices of some of their meats, for the most part, the majority of the staff are polite and professional.
