I specifically stopped in on Saturday for the Menudo, and it was probably the best I've ever had. My husband had the ground beef enchiladas and they were very good! Everything tastes fresh and homemade, and you can tell it's family-run. They also serve fresh juices and horchata, plus there's a salsa bar, warm bean bar, and my favorite--fountain Coca-Cola. I had the bacon breakfast burrito today.. It was ok... I have been here in the past and ordered other things that were really good.. Today it was little disappointing, more beans (a lot) than bacon, potatoes and egg which made my burrito on the mushy side and fall apart at the bottom.. I also feel there may have only been one slice of bacon in it too... Perhaps I should have asked if they could have grilled it after they prepared it to keep it intact.. Food is delicious here! Hubby got flautas with beans and rice while I ordered beef taquitos with beans and rice. Serving was a good size. We also ordered a chicken tortilla soup that was very good. I like their pozole in the past, and I think it's a favorite for me. You walk up to the counter to order and pay and then you get your own table. Food is served at your table which is very convenient. The servers are very nice and courteous. It's not a full service restaurant but our family likes this place a lot. This honestly was our favorite Mexican spot for years! The decline in portions (takeout specifically) and the quality of the food has been more than disappointing. We are takeout queens in this house and this was a go to spot for us; quick, cheap, good portions, fresh, delicious. Unfortunately, the portions have been cut a ton and the quality has really dropped off. The tacos last time were so soggy that they just fell apart. The chips and salsa have always been a pain in my side because most places offer them complimentary, but they charge for them here and it's not exactly cheap to add. All in all, it's one of those places I prefer to eat in house because you actually get your money's worth. I just find it disappointing when takeout is so different from dine in, that we take our business elsewhere. I understand times are tough, but they are tough for everyone. I took it back and they said no problem they brought me back the same taco and just took the lettuce and cheese off and threw more lettuce and broke the shell. I've had their potato tacos plate twice and finish every last bite each time. The beans are so rich and delicious, the rice is seasoned perfectly, and the tacos are crispy and fresh. I love their potato tacos so much because the potato is seasoned just right and has the right texture. The churros are the best ones I ever had -- so crispy and crunchy, but soft and fluffy on the inside. It's hard not to finish these like it's a race, haha. Their agua frescas are delicious and have the right amount of sweetness, they're always made fresh. I highly recommend both of the green salsas (green mild & the mild avocado verde). The restaurant is pretty spacious and always clean. I ordered the Chorizo and eggs breakfast plate which came with rice and chorizo beans. At least, I think they are chorizo beans- the flavor is phenomenal. The portions are generous and before they bring you your entree, they give you a small bowl of frijoles de La hoya- those beans have so much flavor and they were super fresh. I also placed a to go order which was the Delux breakfast which came with breakfast potatoes, bacon, eggs and pancakes. You walk in and place your order and are given a number and the food is brought to your table. I do like that they have a soda fountain and a salsa bar with a crockpot of heated beans. We ordered the carne asada nachos, the taquito meal and my husband got the Chile Relleno. The portion of everything was good for the price and our meals were pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the nachos though. The meat seemed over cooked and they added this red sauce to everything that I personally didn't like.
