Great little place, friendly service, BIG flavors! We were guests at El Perico and wondered why our host was taking us 20 miles way for Mexican chow. What, you can't find a decent place in IE? Too far but I forgot the distance after the meal. The guac came first. Didn't know they make it at table side. The cart look like she was bussing tables. It was delicious. Mrs. Yelper and I got their Molcajete. Big hit! Lots of choices and decently spicy. Spices at most places are WEAK. Here I would say 6 out of 10. Came here last week for the first time ever. My fiancee and I came for a wedding planning meeting with our neighbors and we were blown away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small place but the ambiance is very welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were incredible and all provided amazing service and went above and beyond. The food was delicious. We all had a margarita and table side guacamole. We also had the molcajete which was amazing and delicious. We were hoping to try the flan or a dessert there however we were way too full after but next time we will try it. We are excited to come back and try more. read more

My Boy's and I tried this restaurant finally for the first time after living nearby for over a year now. My boys ordered plain chicken tacos, and I ordered a combo with a chile relleno. When the food arrived, we noticed right away, the boys tacos were loaded with toppings and guacamole. I politely said to the server we ordered these tacos plain we will need to send these back. She looked very upset however I was assured by my sons that we ordered them plain. Our sweet little waitress came back by and said we are working on getting you your order correct and back out to you quickly. Once the food came, it was an abundance of food most definitely. My boys loved their entrée and I finally had a chile relleno the way it's supposed to be made. With the skin burnt off. So for that sole reason alone and Kimberly's warmth we will most definitely return. Another thing I would've liked to see was some refills for the table, but I understand it was starting to get busy in there. However, the boys and I get very thirsty when we eat. This place is right next to my hair salon. My hairstylist recommended it while I was getting my hair done. She was very sweet and ordered it for me, since I had gunk in my hair, was under the heat lamp, and couldn't do it myself. lol The food was done super quick. And it was nice and hot. Perks of ordering for pickup and being right next door haha I ordered the cheese enchiladas combination that comes with rice and beans. The cheese enchiladas have lots of cheese. I loved the rice that came with it. The beans were just okay. The chips were not fresh, and the salsa is a chunky non-spicy salsa. Overall, pretty decent Mexican food. We've been coming for years no problem. Today I asked for nopales con huevo rice and beens. The nopales were burned. They tasted awful. I told the waiter. He said sorry can we give you something else. I declined. The burnt flavor was still in my mouth. I told him I would eat the beans and rice. When the bill came he charge us $10 for rice and beans. He said he discounted us $5! What an insult! What bothered me most was that he took their mistake very lightly. We will never be back. read more

This petite "hole in the wall" gem is a must visit! We stumbled in her on a search for a quick lunch and what a great surprise! The foot was so delish, flavorful and authentic. The food here is freaking amazing. I go here at least five times a month which means almost every week and the owners are very welcoming and super nice. They treat you very well, It feels like family. The food never disappoints, the margaritas are to die for. Jose and Arlene are the owners and they are super fantastic. Was looking for a sale day party tray authentic Mexican food for my moms birthday celebration (some last minute changes in schedule/plan) and this place was one of the few places that offered same day pick up. The service over the phone was great, being that they were already very busy. Jose answered all my questions and did make my sale day pick up happen by the time I needed. Food was great! Definitely exceeded my expectations of what the food might have tasted ( we have never eaten here) but we took a chance and glad we went with this place... most especially because it was right off the 210fwy. So since this was a phone order, we didn't get the ambiance experience of the place... but my brother picked it up and said it looked like a cute little authentic Mexican place. I am Azusa-raised, lived in Baldwin Park for over a decade, and worked in ELA for five years. I have lived a life of what is arguably some of the best darn Mexican food you can find. I was surrounded by it. I was spoiled. Moved to north Rancho a little over a year ago and was absolutely shook by the lack of authentic spots. Even tried el Pollo Loco just for a mediocre fix... the chicken has the consistency of tuna. Met a guy at another local spot to see if their fish tacos were it. They were not. Tried a few other places. No flavor. No taste, no spice, just no love. And then I came here. Parking is a shared lot & I will cross the entire expanse of concrete on triple digit days to get my to-go order from here. Camarones a la diabla do NOT disappoint. Served with rice, beans, homemade flour tortillas, salad, & chips & salsa even in to-go orders, the portions are generous and the price (just over $21 total; I tip it up to $25 even on take out) is justified. The staff is friendly and attentive & the environment is clean. Seating at center tables or booths along the edges. I even took one of my childhood friends there recently. She hates everything. I cringe taking her places because I always have to tip extra to make up for her judgmental behavior. She loved it, too. Salsa is more like pico but still flavorful.
