Myself and my friend were looking for Jimmy o's bar and we took a wrong turn and ended up at this place we decided to stop at this bar last night for one drink and then head to the other spot. There were probably 3 other people there around 8pm. When we walked in the bartender looks at us and greets us he walks over and says what can I get for you guys. I asked him if he had Tito's and told him what I wanted he immediately then puts his hands in my face and says um excuse me. Hi welcome. I said hello. He says I have a couple more tables to attend to give me a minute. Myself and my friend were like oh sorry.. I immediately asked my friend am I trippen or was that weird. She agreed it was very rude but we brushed it off. Another guy comes up and he was very nice and asked us if we had been helped and we were like no. He then asks what he can get us. AGAIN that same bartender that was rude to us starting yelling at him "uhm excuse me chef. NO! Go hand the other people there waters" at that moment I looked at the bartender and stated that he was very rude and we would take our business somewhere else. He then laughed at us as we walked out. We went and spent 100 dollars at Jimmy o's and had a great time. Will never come back to this place. I put a picture from another recent Yelp review of the 2 bartenders. The one on the right was the nice one the one on the left was the extremely rude one.

I shouldn't talk about this, I shouldn't rate this but I can't hold back...Rodrigo is a legend behind the bar. The drinks are top tier. If you get the chance to come here, it's so worth it. Del Mar finally has a speakeasy! The tequila here runs deep, you'll find everything you like and more. This place isn't just a bar it's a speakeasy ran by Logan and Rodrigo who are both students of the craft at a high level.

Had heard great things about the new La Tienda Lounge in Del Mar so stopped by after dinner. LOVED it! Rodrigo made great recommendations for cocktails to try. Elevated ambiance, and a cool vibe! Loved my mocktail too! Definitely will be back to try the small bites menu with Cardiff Crack Nachos and ceviche.

I've always balked at craft cocktails--expensive and not that good. But the cocktails at La Tienda have changed my mind for good. They offer flavorful cocktails--where you taste the underlying liquor and the accompaniments--at a very reasonable price. I'll be back. And the bartenders are great! Logan and Rodrigo!!! Thank you!

For food, the chicken burrito was super filling and packed with chicken, rice, and beans, topped with avocado and served wet style. Really comforting and flavorful. The beef tacos were my personal favorite though. They were so flavorful with a creamy sauce on top that made them stand out. We also tried the ceviche appetizer which came with plantain chips and tasted very fresh and bright. They even have kids meals, and the chicken taco with rice and beans was perfect for a simple option. The vibe here is super fun and relaxed and it's just a short walk from the ocean, which makes it feel like a perfect coastal stop. The patio seating area is also really nice if you want to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, and a spot I'd definitely come back to.

We brought our baby in a stroller and the restaurant was fairly stroller-friendly, even while sitting at the bar. For drinks we opted for non-alcoholic beverages, Del Sol and Watermelon Zero-Rita. Both were beautiful drinks and so refreshing! For food we got their Elote Avocado Bites, Chicken Street Tacos, Beef Sliders, and Cubano Rolls. Everything was tasty, and my favorites were the Elote Avocado Bites and Cubano Rolls. The avocado bites included large slices of avocado and I loved the tanginess in the Cubano Rolls. The portions were pretty hefty for a happy hour menu and we left stuffed! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive! We found paid parking in the garage behind the restaurant.

The food is consistently delicious, with top-quality meats, fresh ingredients, and incredible flavors. I've tried nearly every taco on the menu, and every one has been excellent. She told me the waiter Omar told her that the girl with the spots in her skin (me) left without paying on May 14th when we were celebrating her birthday and that he was informing her just to let me know that probably they won't let me enter in the restaurant anymore. Well, this is absolutely ridiculous, so NOT true and so insulting. We were celebrating the birthday of that precise friend that told me this and another friend and I told the waiter Alejandro F that we will pay separately for our consumptions and whatever my friend ordered and then whoever was coming to the party later on will pay in whatever way they want. So we clarified we were going to pay separately and then I had to leave early and told Alejandro that my friend will pay for us as we informed to start with. Later that night I asked my friend what was my part and paid her my part. End of story. Now, not only they accuse me but when I talked to the manager over the phone (Omar put me in touch with him) this manager told me he was told and was not accusing me but the group. Well, manager, so your math, I showed the ticket that my friend sent me with the portion we paid and you should train your staff to make sure all the money due is paid at the end of the dinner and not false accusing someone a month later. I have never been so embarrassed in my life and apparently there were $80 missing which is anyways a ridiculous amount considering the many people with have been mentioning this place to and the good word we have put about the music and cozy ambiance. This is not the way to treat customers. No apologies, no maybe is OUR misunderstanding due to OUR bad management and our inabilility to do the math. Please change attitude and processes and stop accusing people of something they haven't done.

This is by far, one of the best sit down historical Mexican Restaurants around. We came in and sat on the beautiful patio. The salsa had oregano instead of cilantro and a little heat! The chili relleno was amazingly old school with a perfect egg batter. The beans were amazing. The rice had heat. The turkey taco was the standout. The marg wasn't a face punch of lime and sugar. Service is weird, but not enough to tank a perfect meal!

NOT DOG FRIENDLY…read more Came in on a Friday around 1:15 PM. The patio had a few tables already seated and looked nice at first glance. The experience started off a bit off-putting. There's a sign saying no dogs allowed on the patio, which felt odd for an outdoor space. We were told dogs weren't allowed, even though another table had a dog sitting there. Our dogs are registered service animals, and when that came up, the interaction felt tense rather than straightforward. We ultimately said we'd take our business elsewhere, especially since there are other restaurants very close by. After that, the situation shifted. One of the staff members ended up seating us, and our server was genuinely great. She was kind, attentive, and easily the best part of the service experience. Another staff member did seem a bit uncomfortable or standoffish when bringing waters, but things improved once our server took over. Food-wise, I ordered the turkey taco and enchilada combo with rice and beans. They're known for turkey dishes, but it didn't really stand out to me. The turkey was on the dry side. The beef enchilada was better and pretty standard for Tex-Mex. The salsa had a solid heat to it, which I didn't care for. They don't serve queso, which was surprising. I also tried the guacamole, but it tasted more processed than fresh, so I wouldn't order that again. We also tried one of their popular margaritas, which our server recommended. It was fine, nothing memorable, but not bad either. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. At checkout, the same staff member who initially handled the dog situation was much friendlier and even gave us a chocolate on the house, which was a nice gesture and appreciated. Overall, the patio is cute and the service from our server was excellent. That said, the initial welcome and inconsistent handling of the patio policy left a bad first impression. Food was average. I don't see myself coming back though.

The setup is pretty casual, you order at the counter and then find your own table. We grabbed a nice corner booth with which worked out great for our group and all the kids. We ordered the calamari, parmesan garlic fries, and the cornmeal battered fish. Our friends got the quinoa bowl with cod and the garlic shrimp rice plate. The standout for me was definitely the cornmeal battered fish. It was fresh, juicy, and cooked really well. The fries that came with it were just okay, but the coleslaw was surprisingly one of my favorites I've had. The Parmesan garlic fries were interesting, there was too much garlic and the garlic was way too spicy and overpowering. It was inexpensive, which probably explains why there seemed to be more batter than actual calamari. The texture was also inconsistent, some pieces were so chewy that we could barely bite through them. But I'd honestly come back just for that fish and slaw combo. The calamari was a little disappointing. My biggest and only issue was the wait for our food. Our friends got their meals pretty quickly, but ours never came out. My husband checked twice, and both times we were told it was coming soon. Meanwhile, two tables that came in after us got their food, and one even finished and left before ours arrived. Our friends were deliberately eating slowly so we could all eat together, but they still ended up finishing before our food showed up which sucked since they had to wait for us later. Despite that, I thought the food was good overall. Hopefully the delay was just an off day because the fish was definitely worth ordering and eating again!
