Sheeesh this wasn't it for us. We came here last Thursday to play trivia after we missed our usual Monday night trivia engagement. We thought it might be fun to try somewhere new, but I highly doubt we'll play at this place again. Now I will say all this with the caveat that pretty much no one in our party is a huge fan of this style of Mexican food. Still, this stood out as particularly unpleasant, even to our perspective. The atmosphere is nice enough, at least; it's a very spacious restaurant with lots of seating, tall ceilings, and lots of interesting art. As others have noted, it is pretty loud inside and it can be hard to hear both waiters and others in your party. We were seated at a booth for four. Chips and salsa were forthcoming; the chips were hot and fresh and the salsa was generic but enjoyable. As is often the case, the chips and salsa were the highlight for most of us. Our waiter did not seem to speak a ton of English and either didn't understand or couldn't answer one of my mom's questions about the menu. No big deal to me or her, but something to be aware of when you visit. My mom just got cheese dip, my dad got an a la carte beef burrito and crunchy chicken taco, my friend got a beef chimichanga, and I got the chicken and vegetable plate. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My mom's cheese dip was as expected but being cheese dip it was the best thing we ate. My chicken and vegetable plate was runner up, though mostly because it too came with cheese dip. My chicken was under-seasoned and the vegetables were under-cooked and extremely crunchy. The rice was okay. My buddy who ordered the beef chimichanga did not get it. The waiter delivered a chicken chimichanga and seemed confused when my friend tried to correct the order. My friend decided it wasn't worth the battle and said he'd settle for chicken. He ultimately said the chicken was weird and very dry and he didn't enjoy it. On the bright side, they left off the $2 up-charge for a chicken chimichanga on the bill, so I guess there's that. My dad said his beef burrito had little flavor but was edible. The shredded chicken taco, he said, was totally inedible and just nasty. He didn't eat it beyond the first bite. When it came time to pay, the waiter brought out a ticket for my parents and a ticket for me and my friend, despite us asking to pay separately. My friend picked up the tab and I Venmoed him later. It was pricy, at about $25 for my entree and Diet Coke + tip. An all-around frustrating and unpleasant first (and likely last) visit here. Trivia was fun as usual, but we will stick to our Monday night haunt whenever we can. read more

Sunday afternoon while it was cold dark and wet my husband wants Mexican food. We drove to La Finka for takeout. We ordered chicken fajitas, chicken burritos, rice and beans. Their prices have gone up since the last time we were there. Our food cost over $38 before tip. There were three different employees at the register when I placed my order. Once my order was taken all three disappeared and I wasn't able to pay. Our food arrived quickly and I had to tell two employees twice I needed to pay. After repeating myself the fourth time the third employee came to the register to ask me if I paid. I paid and we departed. Arriving home the food was hot and smelled good. We opened the containers and checked out our foods. The chicken fajitas were bland but good. They could use more seasoning. Hubs chicken burritos were bland but good. He also said they could use more seasoning. He enjoyed his rice and beans. This order of food wasn't seasoned as well as the last time we went. Maybe the cooks changed. Our food was good but not as good as our previous visits. We will return to try other menu items soon. I had high hopes for La Finka Mexica, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. First off, they only serve Pepsi products--no Coke--which is a big letdown for me as I really dislike Pepsi. The meat quality was also disappointing; it tasted cheap and lacked flavor. So far, this is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Huntsville! We came on a Friday night and were seated promptly, even though it was quite busy. I do believe they talk call ahead reservations. The atmosphere inside was welcoming. The workers were all nice and everything appeared to be clean. The seated us back by the bar area, which was nicely designed. We didn't try any of the drinks, but the margaritas did look good. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh and plentiful. You can ask for their hot sauce to be brought out as well. My husband got dinner combo #4 and I got #6. We both really enjoyed our meals. Mine was a soft taco and enchilada with beans and rice. I loved the freshness of the flour tortilla. The overall flavor of every bite was on point. We will go back and try their house-made guacamole and possibly margs next time. read more

La Finka is wonderful and they are really beating the quality and quantity of the nearby Mexican places especially with the prices. I've gotten a margarita here once or twice and they are stout and delicious. Can't beat a good marg. Their cheese dip to me is the perfect consistency, not too watery where you can't see it on the chip, but not to thick that your chip breaks and it's covered in cheese dip , it's perfect. The salsa is delicious. The chips are hot and fresh when they deliver them to you as well. I really love a good grilled chicken quesadilla and a shredded chicken soft taco. Like those are my normal thing I typically get. The quesadilla is perfect grilled to perfection the chicken and cheese is delicious inside, the soft taco chicken is shredded and moist, fresh lettuce on the side to add a little crunch. Overall this place is really delicious. The waitstaff is always there as well, like you never get an empty drink, you only have to ask for something one, and one time I left 'the restaurant and forgot my leftover on the table and they caught me outside. My husband and I have come to la finka for years, good service, good portions of food, margs are amazing!

We came here for a family lunch. I appreciate that they could accommodate us, but beyond that, I found the experience a bit disappointing. Being from out of town, I looked at the menu online before we arrived. Based on the descriptions and pricing, I expected this to be some really good food. While I was leaning towards just a plain a la carte chicken quesadilla, I wanted to try something that might be different from other places. I figured for $6 more than the a la carte grilled chicken quesadilla, the Quesadilla Hawaiina was going to be pretty impressive. I will admit that the pineapple added a great flavor. However, I might not have even called it a quesadilla--perhaps just soft taco grande? If there was any cheese, it had long since melted and was undetectable. I just ended up flipping it open and eating the filling. One of us has a combo plate with one burrito, one enchilada, and one other item. She said she did not care for the burrito at all and ended up not eating it. I will say the property is appealing. Lots of statues, art, etc. Unfortunately, none of those makes up for higher price point food that wasn't all that great. read more

My favorite sister and I took our soon-to-turn 89 year old Momma to LF last Monday and had a great time! The highlight of the lunch was the guac! I loved their guacamole! It was just like the tableside guac they made at Cantina Laredo at Bridge Street, only LF does not make it tableside. I loved the raw onions, the freshness of the avocado and tomatoes and the chunky texture. It was nowhere near smashed to smitereens or blended like some places make it. i loved also, that it came with a side of fresh lime for squeezes, cilantro and fresh jalapeno slices. Win! A large-ish bowl was 8.95 but so worth it because sweet Momma loved it, too! Sisters "half and half" tea was delicious and they even let us order a kid's meal for Mom [this *never* happens]. My pinot grigio was delicious and inexpensive at 5.95 for a good pour. Mom and I had the grilled chicken soft tacos and, I agree with some other reviews, my chicken was a little heavy on the salt. Not "I need a gallon of water to finish off this taco" salty, still a little salt-forward for sure. I didn't try Mom's beans and rice. The chips were plentiful, service was attentive and friendly. The menu is fairly expansive. The food came out a tad slow, but like Sister said, "we have to give grace because restaurants are struggling to stay fully staffed." It was an easy "in and out" with Mom's wheelie, and with the hugely vaulted ceiling, plexiglass partitions and expansive indoor space it felt "safe" you know COVID-wise. I noticed a large outdoor patio that I hope is stocked w/ tables, chairs and umbrellas when it warms up just a tad. The artwork was interesting, and not over-the-top colorful and blinged out with lots of Christmas-type lights. The noise level was not bad at all, and there was only one TV ((yay!)) located in the bar in the back of the restaurant. The restrooms were clean and most of the clientele were Hispanic. Mom enjoyed getting out of her memory care and people watching, shamelessly flirting with one of the hosts/servers, and evaluating the artwork, while sister and I were able to enjoy catching up, leisurely with each other. Probably not a place I'd go out of my way to return. Wasn't bad but it just wasn't wow. Nice big dining room for. Group. The hostess and waitress were pleasant and efficient. The food was good for Mexican food around here, especially considering I'm from Southern California. But the smell hits you as you walk in, it is likely from the place before since the smell has not changed with owners but y'all need to get it looked at. It's repulsive. I don't want to give up on the place because I like the people and the food but the smell is awful. It's a very nice place and atmosphere and I believe you would get more customers if you did something about the smell. This is the Winchester location that we visited, but it is not available to review. However has the same food and name, so probably a chain. They have a variety of margarita options & you can mix them. They have an extensive menu. The taste was just average. Nothing exceptional or spectacular, mostly salty. I got beef nachos and it was quite literally just beef and nachos. The flavor kind of reminded me of the way cat food smells. This evening was the first time that I've visited and eaten at La Finka. I've been meaning to have time to visit La Finka, but it never worked out. My best friend was having her early birthday dinner here and I decided now would be a perfect time to come. From the start, I just want to say that the employees made me feel welcome and were nice. I'm not going to lie... I was sticker shocked by the menu prices. It was a little steep for average Mexican fare but I was lucky enough to order from the lunch menu, which I highly recommend. Despite the aforementioned, I chose the fajitas lunch special. It was tasty and a lot of food for the money. But it was nothing really to write home about. But let me say this, the flour tortillas were the star of the show. Light and fluffy. The tortillas were some of the best I have ever had. Service was great and my waitress was very friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing and the interior is beautiful. My lunch portion was roughly $14 compared to the $20 dinner portion. That said, I feel like comparatively I could have gotten a better deal at other venues. Despite the price, the food is good and may be your cup of tequila. I however make no bones about it, I'm a Two Fingers bottom shelf guy, a Patron man. So I will always choose the bargain. read more

We arrive at 130 Sunday afternoon with a party of 9. Was seated immediately, since they were not very busy at this time of the day. We were told there would be a minimum gratuity of 18% for a large group, which in and of itself is acceptable. The food for all our group was very good. Large plates. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. Once seated it took ten minutes before our drink order was taken. Then another 15 minutes before our food order was taken. Finally after our meal it took 10-15 minutes for the waitress to leave the bar area to see if we needed carry out containers and bring our checks. Food is 4.5+, service was 0. If you set a minimum standard for a gratuity, management better make sure there is a standard to service. Obviously this management team does not have standards because there was no one checking on the front of the house. read more

I really WANT to give them 5 stars. The drinks are good and the staff is always so friendly every time I go in. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars is the fact that everything is over salted. There are some really great flavors hiding under that blanket of salt. Sometimes restaurants add a lot of salt to make up for otherwise bland food but that's not the case here...aside from the overuse of salt the food is flavorful and those flavors would shine through if they simply toned down the salt. Have been a couple times. The food is just ok. Nothing special at all. I went last night to try their chicken soup. Hands down! The worst chicken soup I have ever had. Full of hard cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. The broth was hot water. Zero taste. The chicken was the consistency of leather. I have been to countless Mexican restaurants and have had chicken soup there. Always a staple at Mexican restaurants. I cannot believe they actually sell it. Just terrible. The building looks very new which makes the atmosphere great. A lot of rustic Mexican country themed items make you feel in a different place. This is a Tex Mex eatery, so look for Americanized dishes (I am NOT saying that is bad). The starter salsa was lack luster but a good base for El Yacateco hot sauce which they have by request, the chips were a little thicker than the norm and that is VERY good. Those who follow my reviews know when I visit and then review Mexican Restaurants I start with chimichangas- I LOVE good chimis. I ordered the Chimichanga Special: one beef, one chicken and one shrimp chimi. The beef was good, but could've used a little more spice, but the chicken and shrimp were very delicious. The refried beans were nothing special but was good as was the rice. The staff was really friendly - and the whole place including the restroom was very clean and tidy. The price was quite good, and in line with today's restaurant prices. I'd highly recommend this place, and it will be on my list to return to. read more

The portion of nachos was large but cold and the tamale was the worst I had ever had in my life. I believe it had been sitting in the back since the day before and they forgot about it. It was hard, cold and inedible so it got thrown away. My boyfriend said his quesadilla was okay so that's yay for him but being the one who is recovering from foot surgery, I was hoping for a good meal. The food is pretty good and consistent. We go maybe once a month when we need a quick meal. One thing that has stood out to me: the men's bathroom now has a sign on the stall asking users to not flush toilet paper, but instead throw in the garbage can next to the toilet. Seems rather unsanitary for a restaurant. We won't be going back until they fix their plumbing issue. Three stars for the food, one star for the facility issue (hopefully temporary). read more

I really want to rate La Finka better. For service and hospitality they are at least a 4. Here's the problem. It's loud. Not a little loud but LOUD, never mind trying to hold a conversation with someone a seat away from you. Loud like not being able to understand the servers questions . Loud like feeling you were at a heavy metal concert when you leave. I was with a group of 9 for a birthday party. Management and service was so good. However we all felt we likely wouldn't return due to the noise. One of our guests was a structural engineer and he said it's due to the high ceilings and concrete floors. Theres nothing to absorb the sound. Looks great but bad idea. Needs to be corrected. I must also add, food was decent. Typical Mexican food. So. We had pretty high hopes for this place but sadly it was disappointing. The salsa was very bland and in need of salt. We ordered a beef tostada and the shell was so hard I couldn't get my knife through it. At all. The flauta with grilled chicken was ok. It's a fried flour shell (not corn) and then is covered in queso so it was soggy. The ground beef for the taco was dry but edible. I was very disappointed in the fact they don't actually sanitize between customers, they just do the bare minimum of wiping the tables. The manager was very kind and seemed receptive to our criticism. Maybe this place will improve in time I'm not sure if I will chance it again. read more

Was excited about trying out a new Mexican place in a city with tons of Mexican choices. Started out asking about their margaritas of which there were plenty of menu options. I asked if the premium margarita was made with fresh lime juice. No, we use a mix. Well how about the Presidente margarita- surely that top shelf drink is made with fresh lime? No - ALL of our margaritas use mix. Not a great start. I had the Presidente and it was passable but a bit low on the octane for a $13 drink. The food was also uninspired, but the portions were generous. That's about all the positive things I can say about La Finka, sadly. There are far better choices for the same or less money. read more

He told a couple that maybe they shouldn't come back there because they were trying to tell them what dish they ordered and because it was wrong he made the comment since they were complaining just so t come back!! I rated my recent visit a Great, but IMHO it's not as Good as El Vaquero. Reason for it being great is it's proximity to my house! In reality it should be a 4.5 Stars, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Friendly staff, fast service and clean facilities all around. Only negative was that my ice tea was never refilled. Decided to try this place based on it being new and a few "very clean" reviews. I'm currently sitting here watching them wipe down tables after customers leave...rest assured NO extra sanitation is taking place whatsoever. She's using the same bleach rag to wipe down each table, not wiping down the edges closest to our bodies that we touch & lean on AND didn't even wipe down the seats but she used her hand to brush the crumbs on to the floor...when they bring your food out the plates will be stacked on top of each other so whatever is on the bottom of another plate is probably in your food. Luckily we saw them doing this and specifically requested they bring our food out on a tray. Sometimes it's really the little things that can make of break a dining experience. Salsa tastes like ketchup...tortillas are flat & taste old/chemically maybe? Tostada shells are stale. And I'm pretty sure the waiters would rather be doing ANYTHING else. I think I'll be looking for something a little more authentic in the future. Or maybe I've just been spoiled by San Antonio. read more
