My husband and I ended our Italy trip in Geata as we wanted to stay in a more remote area of Italy…read moreon our way back from Amalfi coast to Rome. We took the train into the city, and got a 15 minute taxi drive to the hotel. We decided to book Albergo as they had one of the best TripAdvisor reviews in the area (plus a private beach), however we didn't realize that it is about a 20 minute drive to the town center - which will cost you a $15 taxi. They have a city bus, but it does not run that often (only once an hour on the weekends, and less during the week). However, we still enjoyed our time in Geata. The hotel was nice and clean, and the grounds were kept up nicely. Our plan was to relax in Geata and that's exactly what we did. The beach area was decent (clean, crystal clear water), and they also have free lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas. In addition, they have a nice freshwater pool at the top of the resort, however the hot tub wasn't what I would consider a "hot" tub. It was basically the same temp of the pool and had jacuzzi jets. For our room we got a King suite that faced the ocean. The room could have used some updating, but I thought it was all apart of the old Italian charm of the resort. The patio off our room was HUGE and had a bistro table and lounge chairs. Apart of our room rental included breakfast, which was really nice. The spread included everything from eggs to croissants and fruit. A nice mix of options. Breakfast was served at the only restaurant at the resort, and we also went there for dinner. For Dinner my husband and I got the veal marsala and filet. Both were amazing, but the tiramisu was the best for dessert!!! I would give the restaurant for dinner 5 stars! Overall for the value, Albergo, was a great place to stay and somewhere to consider if you want to avoid the touristy area of Italy.

I got the Lamb with potatoes and I felt as thought it was boiled, sent it back and she understood, I was so scared that they would be upset but no issue! She brought meatballs and veal back (we order 2 lamb plates with potatoes so two meals to replace) and the veal was alright, meatballs were... okay, definitely not like expected meatballs but I still ate them. After the dinner she came with a lemon sorbet for the family which really helped the rating of the place. She was a really sweet lady with shorter hair, spoke very well in English, and was very hospitable. She was what made us like the restaurant other than the obvious wine ambience.

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem because it is not visible from the Main Street. It was a nice quite spot to dine in such a busy area. I ordered the baked sea bass and it was so delicious. The food was seasoned perfectly and nothing about my meal was overdone or overwhelming. The staff was also friendly and responsive to inquiries. Free WiFi is also available. I highly recommend this restaurant and wished that it was closer to my hotel so that I could've visited again.

We ordered sea bass fillet rolled in zucchini and honey mushrooms. Fish was tender, soft, and delicious with great seasoning. We also ordered Ravioli with white truffles and it was delicious as well. Ravioli tasted like it was freshly made and it tasted great with truffles. Lastly, we got tiramisu for dessert. This tiramisu was prepared by an artist. Just by looking at the dish, it was very pretty to look at. It was presented on a beautiful plate with thin chocolate cookie on top with sugar decoration and underneath was a creamy white tiramisu. I loved this dish because it was unique dessert with great sweet flavor and great presentation. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly with great attitude and they are attentive. I think they liked the look on my face every time they brought out the dishes because their presentation was great. Whoever was the Chef that night, I would give him or her an award. This restaurant was unique just like Rome. Highly recommended!

We opted for the Roman-style cuisine tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was quiet and romantic. I appreciated the decor, especially the various wine bottles displayed throughout, and I also liked the dishes the food was served on. That said, this restaurant leaned a little too "foodie" for my taste. I also discovered that I really dislike truffles! My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed everything--including my leftovers. The wines were fantastic across the board. I also want to mention the pricing was shockingly affordable for what we got at dinner, which again, included the wine pairing. If you consider yourself a foodie and enjoy creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes, Ristorante Ad Hoc is worth a visit.
