This place was recommended by our tour guide. We were not disappointed. The fresh bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil was marvelous. The balsamic was some of the best we ever tasted. We shared a pasta dish with meat sauce and tuna with sesame crust and a fennel salad. The tuna was incredibly tasty and obviously very fresh. The pasta was out of this world. We were so lucky to get in without a reservation and I could not have been more grateful because this was easily top 3 of restaurant of my entire Italian vacation. This restaurant was our first recommendation when we arrived in Rome on Christmas Eve. Our hotel guest services manager had told us about this convenient restaurant right across from the hotel after we had told him about a restaurant our pick-up service driver had raved about. Apparently, the gentleman at the hotel thought the restaurant we had been referred to was not very good. I later read reviews and can concur that it seemed more appealing for the general masses. However, when the guest services manager called Amadeo to make reservations for my husband and me, I heard the him say something that sounded like "American tourists," and I feared we were being highlighted as tourists, and I felt that perhaps this restaurant would be more appealing to American tourist appetite. We decided not to go. A week later, after returning from Florence, and staying at a hotel down the road we decided to eat here. Having learned a bit more about touristy restaurants, and tactics restaurants use when they really are begging for customers to come inside, plus having walked a ton and having visited the colosseum and the pantheon in one day, we just thought, "why not give it a try?" I frankly had been tired of reading reviews on Yelp and Google to find out that others gave a restaurant high reviews whereas I wouldn't have or I would have rated something higher where others rated it lower. This is one of those restaurants. Our waiter "Bari" was exceptional. He spoke English well, and he personally made our aperitifs. My "Sex on the Beach" was spot on, and my husband believed his "Old Fashioned" was one of the best he's had. Bari told us he's training to be a bartender, and he's off to a good start in our opinion. We both had the seafood pasta, which was spectacular, with a well-balanced creamy sauce. Everything about this meal was enjoyable, from the bread to the salad, and our main course. As far as the ambience, or the dining area they sat us in, I noticed again how they sat us with other Anglo-Saxon looking people. We sat next to a very nice couple from Austria, and a long table behind us was filled with young Germans. On my way to the bathroom, I noticed several Hispanic people in a room together with other Latins. I chuckled at this because, frankly, and I am not alone here, I am half-Mexican but my looks balance between my Spaniard side and my Scandinavian side, and I could have been comfortable in either dining situation. But I digress, this restaurant could have been a trusted choice the first time we were referred. I would recommend it to anyone freshly visiting Rome. read more

We dined here on a recent trip to Rome. The food is fantastic and we loved our waiter, who was charming and very much made us feel welcomed. Other YELP reviewers have commented on the opening offering of the table bread, and balsamic, and olive oil mixture here. It seems silly to comment on this, but yep... it was really a flavorful blend, served on really good bread. Ultimately, the bread and oils did their job of being the opening act of a night, and they foreshadowed the really good food that would soon come to us! This was indeed, just the start to a fantastic meal. Many of our friends, who have been to Italy have commented on how much better the pasta is there. Yep, it really is true. All of the places we visited on our trip, where we had pasta, would get a pasta rating of a 6 on a scale of 5. AMEDEO did not disappoint on this regard...Once again, both my wife and I had to agree that Italian pasta dishes are notably better in texture and taste. I can not remember exactly what pasta dish was served as the second course, but just remember sitting there thinking, "Holy Smokes! This is so Good!!!". I generally try to avoid conflict, but if they (the Country of Italy) doesn't share their secrets on how to make pasta so amazing, I think we might just have to send in our military. Joking aside, I savored every bite. The veal scaloppine that came next was really good...so tender and flavorful. There was also an opening dish, that was brought out, shortly after the table bread. It looked like a dessert (see photo below). I don't know what they call it, but it sure, "eats good." (When the waiter brought it out, I was not paying attention, again, and missed hearing what it was called and it's description). Anyways, this unnamed dish was unique to my dining experience and I liked it very much. The ambiance and decor of the place is classy. The kind of place you bring a nice dame to. If you happen to be near the Roma Termini Railway station, this place is only a few blocks away and although you pretty much can't find a bad restaurant in all of Italy (*due to their genetic mutation in Italians that makes them able to cook food that is 37% better than most of the world), this place is worth a try. WOW! What a great evening of good food and wine ! Our hotel concierge suggested this place and it did not disappoint! We absolutely love the mineral water served here in Rome and our waitress made a good recommendation of a house Cabernet! They serve a variety of breads with some of the best EVOO and aged balsamic vinegar I've had! We started with an eggplant appetizer and man was it good! The tomato sauce was soooo fresh and eggplant was tender and well seasoned! We shared Carbonara and the lamb chops in a delectable cherry glaze with simple potatoes dusted with smoked paprika! Rubi was a fantastic server, he came with great recommendations! We both had a pistachio pasta for appetizer and they split the bowl of pasta for us so we had a nice small portion each. Then I proceeded to order the lamb, my husband got the chicken. Both dishes were delicious! Just so people are aware, the wine reduction on the lamb was very sweet, it worked perfectly with the Lam! But you have to understand that this is going to be a sweet meat just so you are mentally ready for it. I was thinking I wanted something savory, but this was just fine! I can say without a doubt that this restaurant has the BEST bread that we had during our entire trip. The foccacia was amazing and their 7 grain focaccia was phenomenal! What a delightful treasure to find Amedeo right across from Hotel Geneva! 4 of us gathered for drinks and gelato on Friday; Tristan so kindly served us...so we returned with others on Saturday! (outside each time). For our final full meal as a group, all 13 (with tour director), Tristan served us warmly and generously again. Wow! So good, we came back a 2nd time! Do you know how on vacation you want to try every restaurant and cafe around to feel like you diversified your meals and tried every possible thing? I was the same way until I had a string of mediocre meals in Rome and went back to Amedeo Ristorante for our last meal of the trip! The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio a level on the ground floor, and a lower level for guests to enjoy. The cover charge includes your bread, so fear not foreign travelers who see a charge on their bill on the end. The lasagna was the best I have ever had! The noodles were cooked to perfection, and my sauce was the perfect balance of tomato and meat, without being sweet, The portion was perfect and with the accompaniment of a side of leafy greens, the meal was well-balanced. We came back the last night and I had the carbonara. Although it wasn't meal, I think it's because I wasn't a fan of the richness of the meal itself, not the restaurant's fault. My husband loved his octopus meal on the first night and cacio e pepe on the last evening. We raved about this restaurant when we came home and told anyone we knew going to Rome last year about it! Oh my ...! Such an incredible culinary experience just blocks from Rome's termini station. We had the eggplant starter followed by the spaghetti carbonara and finally one of the specials of the day, braised veal. All were fabulous but can't say enough about the braised veal, so tender and flavorful. For dessert had the panna cotta and the tiramisu. So amazing! Service was prompt and very courteous. Hands down this was my favorite place I ate in Rome, and we went to a Michelin star place and ate at an Anthony Bourdain recommendation. It was the only place my wife ate at more than once while in the city, because we wanted something we knew we were going to love as our last meal in Rome. The first meal there, I had the octopus special which was incredible - one of the best-prepared octopus dishes I've ever eaten. My second time there I ordered off the regular menu, and got the lamb chops. The lamb was really delicious and the cook on the potatoes was perfect. My wife had their lasagna the first time and she said it was the best lasagna she's ever eaten, but she found their carbonara to be a little rich. In addition to loving the dishes, Amedeo had the best pre-meal bread service of any place we ate at in Italy - lots of variety and everything was really good. Service here was pretty good and the food wasn't super expensive compared to a lot of places in Rome - 2 entrees averaged just a shade over €30. read more

But they are closed until 6pm so we walked a block down to try Amedeo which had good reviews as well. My pistachio crusted salmon is good and my friend's lamb chop is tender until she found a metal wire inside the lamb. She showed it to a waitress who apologized with a shrug then walked away. My friend was still hungry so she continued to eat but very cautiously. Bam bam bam! She found another piece of metal wire inside the lamb chop!!! The same waitress took the plate and said she would check with the kitchen staff. Nothing happened after 10 minutes and we called the waitress who took our order to let her know that we would cancel the order. She reacted surprised and pretended that she didn't know about the metal wires. Then the waitress brought out a fresh plate of lamb chop from the kitchen. The waitress that pretended surprise earlier told that waitress to bring the lamb chop to our dinner. We refused to take the chop because my friend lost her appetite already. Another waitress came over to clean our table and asked how the things were going. I responded "no goodl! She seemed to be surprised then I asked for the check. We paid the bill which they deduct the lamb chop. None of the wait staff said bye or exchanged any pleasantries when we walked out the door. We felt very unwelcome and we were being treated badly. Dry, terrible, anything deep fried here is disgusting and salty. I should have known better but after eating so much pasta in Italy, I wanted a pasta free meal. I walked away from my food, two bites of the second dish that I did not order with a mouthful of salt. The calamari was also way too salty and lacked any seasoning other than panko. It tasted like a 5th grader cooked my meal. Upsetting. The service here was not great. I was interrupted while reading the menu to be told they have the menu in another language. I was already reading the English menu and asked what country I come from. Is it because I'm Asian? Yes, America has us too. I ordered one dish and has asked about another.
