In the nicest way they let us know the pizza would be about 20 minutes, so we found a table and got our drinks. The dining area is understated, with wood flooring and tables framed with black metal. The cake cases give you plenty to consider taking home with you after your meal. The pizza was worth the wait: it was boxed hot from the oven. The crust was tender, and slightly chewy texture, with a light and airy quality, and crisp around the edges. The cheese and pepperonis were tasty and not too greasy. We brought home a chocolate cake from the case, with a couple of traditional cannoli. With the kindness shown here and the quality foods, we will be back.

Thirty minutes into my hour drive to pickup I receive another text that the cake won't be ready for pickup for another hour! After finally getting my cake and heading to the venue the bottom tier collapsed in on itself. The bottom tier of the cake had ZERO support with nothing but a single wooden dowel down the center of the entire cake. I very kindly messaged the business owner and requested a partial refund due to the lack of support on the bottom tier. My message was read and ignored and all other texts and calls ignored entirely. Then as a last resort I messaged her on Facebook to ask if she had read my texts, to which she responded a day later that she would not be refunding me. Before I could respond she blocked me. Throughout the ENTIRE transaction and after I was nothing but kind to Lucresia Nelson and understanding, not even looking for a full refund! And she met me with unprofessional and childish behavior. Let me be clear. While I'm irritated about how my cake turned out and my wasted money, I'm vexed most of all by the disrespect this woman has shown me. And after I was nothing but kind in the face of such unprofessionalism.

It's apparent whoever does the cake decorating is very talented. However, Mel's in westlake and Sweet chic in Lake Charles have absolutely set the bar for cakes in the surrounding area. It's a standard for taste more than anything and sadly the Cake Bar for me has missed the mark on taste. A cup cake or cake needs to be more than beautiful to look at in elegant box. It absolutely must taste as good as it looks! The cakes are moist but the icing is the major shortfall for me, taste like something out of a bucket... I had high hopes for this place and still do. Most of the pieces to this puzzle of success are already in place, hopefully they get the icing figured out and it'll pay off big time!
