She was extremely knowledgeable and detail oriented, but also kind and flexible, giving advice and direction when needed, and deferring to our vision for everything else. From the very first meeting, we were made to feel at home from everyone at ACC. From the start, Peggy stressed that her goal was to make our dream a reality. To that end, at no point were we given a list of standard "packages", instead always being asked open ended questions about what we wanted. This could be seen in the dinner selection, where instead of a pre-selected list of dishes, we were asked by the chef what kind of flavor profiles we were looking for, and then given a large variety of options that fit our preferences. In the end, the dinner we chose was phenomenal. The club itself is absolutely beautiful. The drive up is on a charming tree lined road, and guests are greeted with a welcomingly large and warm foyer as they walk in, complete with a large fireplace. Our cocktail hour was in a separate room from the main dinner, yet there was plenty of space available to mingle and move around before dinner began. Behind the scenes, the men's and women's locker rooms provided great privacy and security for the wedding party to change and freshen up. The main dining room is lined with windows giving a beautiful vista of the golf course and landscape outside. The wait staff was extremely attentive and prompt, following our schedule perfectly. This attentiveness didn't end after dinner was finished; as the night was coming to a close, Peggy noticed the guest count was still pretty high (a testament to our DJ, but that's a different review). Because of this, without prompting, she had the kitchen prepare more late night snack bags so that no one would go home empty handed. We are beyond happy with our experience at the Aurora Country Club, and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a customized selection of food and appetizers, an accommodating staff, and an elegant space. You will not be disappointed.

We provided our guests with the choice of Fish&Chips, Grilled Chicken Sandwich or the Wienerschnitzel...kids were given a Chicken Tender Meal. Everyone truly enjoyed their meals. I appreciated they allowed a special meal for the MOB who is a vegetarian. The sugar donuts at the end of the meal were a hit! :) Alyssa, the party coordinator for the venue was super accomodating and super easy to work with. It does take a few days for response time - BUT, I always got a response. And she was always willing to give us everything we asked for! The venue even let us in earlier than requested to set up our decor. We would definitely recommend this venue for a bridal/baby shower or birthday party - any special event that is smaller in numbers. The venue has been advertising a new addition to the space next to building but it seems the construction has haulted. It is a shame because it is a bit of an eyesore - BUT, if they complete this addition, it will be beautiful. Hope they are able to complete it. The Gray's Mills has history with it's town so I hope locals will continue to support it. When we come back to visit our son and my new daughter-in-law, we will definitely be back for a visit - especially if the weather is nice!! The performers - Bert's Revenge - were excellent, as always, providing the perfect vibe to the evening! It really means a lot seeing the co-owner, Mike Baum and his wife, Jan, there mingling with their customers. They put their heart into this establishment and it shows! Interesting note: the elevator, like all exterior and interior doors, has a security feature. You have to use your room key to operate it! DD and I were bringing a dog with us, and if the room ever had another one in it, you'd never know. Even his discerning nose didn't seem to detect anything, or at least he didn't act like it. Everything was wonderfully clean and in working order. My bed was a delight - I especially like the choice of firmness of pillows, clearly labeled "soft" or "firm". The blackout curtain was a great surprise - it actually worked! I prefer my sleeping quarters as dark as possible and I was pleased to have that. The hot shower was good, with a large and adjustable head, from fine spray to pulsating jets. What would have made it better was more pressure; the jets didn't really pulse that great. Breakfast was standard, according to DD. I was trying to get going and only grabbed some "grind and brew" coffee, which was delicious. I do wish one could brew less than 10 oz. but I just took two cups and mixed them to make half caff. All in all, a delightful hotel experience.

The venue and the surrounding area was much nicer than I recall! The building is beautiful and reminiscent of the same Neo-Baroque French Revival style as the theatre district in Chicago proper. We ate dinner before our long drive so we didn't purchase anything from the bar, but the prices looked reasonable and the people who were purchasing items were commenting out loud that the snacks were delicious! The merch was very reasonable and I was happy they allowed me to pay in cash for a $5 Dear Evan Hansen magnet. We were in the double letter rows through a Chicago League of Theatre purchase, but the seats were still wonderful, especially at that price point! They do have the stadium seating where the rows are not flat, but I wish with the renovation that they would have configured the seats to be in between one another as well. We happened to have an extra seat because my daughter's Speech tournament was waaay over time due to judge difficulties, so we were able to scootch over when a tall man sat in front of my mom at the last second before the show started. The seats were comfortable (Dear Evan Hansen is not a short musical!), and I appreciated how they have cup holders, even if I did not purchase a drink this visit. I never know where to stick my soda cup, lid or not, if there is no cupholder. The set was very technologically advanced, but not so much that it took away from the show. The sound and lighting quality was good as well! Affordable parking not too far away was also a giant plus. $2 for the first hour, $1 for every subsequent hour, with a cap of paying no more than $5 for your visit. I was afraid to offer my 79 year old grandmother the extra ticket because the parking garage is a couple of blocks away from the theater and I didn't see immediate handicapped parking near the theater. They do offer valet for, like, $35?, but I don't see why because my grandmother has a handicapped placard that I would need to pay 7x more for parking. The area around the theater is also very "artsy"--we saw a cake decorating class, numerous small theaters, and a performing arts school on our short jaunt. I definitely would make the trip again, especially if they are offering shows that are not in the regular rotation! I think I saw "Sunday in the Park with George" for their next season?
