I had the privilege of actually joining this family for two weeks at the beginning of the season to be a part of the salmon catching operation earlier this summer. Wow, what an experience! When they say "wild-caught" it's not a catch phrase or marketing ploy - this is the real deal. We set the nets in the water during Alaska state-mandated fishing hours, and the tides bring in the fish. They are gently harvested from the nets, placed in an ice bath, and delivered daily to the local fishery. There they are cleaned and the fillets are packaged and immediately frozen for shipment back to DE. Very simple process (but hard work), and completely natural fish. Folks, you cannot get more authentic wild-caught Alaskan salmon than right here!

I had the chicken quesadillas and we joked with a friend that was with us that it appeared to get run over by a steam roller as there were only small nibbles of chicken and cheese in the very bottom of the tortillas, top half was completely empty. When that came out, the sliced pickles on the sandwich were larger than the burger, and there was one shrimp on the slider roll, which also had pickles and lettuce on it. (The toppings of pickles and lettuce were supposed to just be on the burger). Nevertheless shrimp, still had, half the shell on it and didn't cover the bun and once the pickles were removed from the burger, the burger ended up being maybe the size of the Sacajawea dollar coin, maybe an old fifty-cent piece. I had visited the store several times before and always felt comfortable. I had never encountered any issues with the employees or other customers until today. When I walked into the store, I saw three white people: the employee and two customers. The employee asked me, "What is it that you need? What can I get you"?, in such a nasty tone. I replied, "Please finish helping these people while I look around". The next thing I hear is: "I am going to call the police on you". I was shocked. Wait, what just happened? I am upset but calm. I will wait for them and I did. The next thing I hear is: "I am calling Cindy on you". I am confused and upset but calm. Who in the world is Cindy, lol... I turn around and she is trying to hand me the phone stating that Cindy wanted to speak with me. I am going to upload the video if the sites allow me to. I do not take the call. I am not running; I am still waiting for the police. I look up and there is the couple and they have me surrounded. The woman tells me to leave the store because Black people are usually the problem. I am calm, but I inform her to walk away from me or we are going to have a problem, she did but, not without making a racist statement as she was walking away - these niggers..... Black people will ask, why didn't you just leave, NO? Instead, I calmed the situation made my purchase, and then left. I sat outside for about 20 minutes waiting for the police, but they never showed. The employee has an issue with Black people and should not be working in a customer service role because she is a racist who is afraid of ALL Black people. I could have been murdered. During my drive, I decided to speak with Cindy about the situation. However, she dismissed my concerns, laughed it off, and made excuses for the employee's behavior. I hung up feeling that I could have been murdered--not because I was causing a scene or acting irrationally, but because the employee is uncomfortable serving Black customers. Is this still happening in 2024? This is not a safe place to shop for Black and Brown women.
