BOBM is a casual brewpub with a good selection of beer and good food, mostly seafood. We started with vodka oyster shots; I also had a Midnight Kraken Stout, crafted with their blend of brandy wine, coffee, and roasted beans. It was very dark and rich, smooth, and with a touch of sweetness at the end. The appetizers come in big portions, so we decided to order a few and share. We started with their creamy and delicious lobster bisque, and then proceeded to order a few appetizers. I recommend their crab dip; it is homemade and comes with baked cheese on top and toasted bread on the side, which is amazing. We also had their East Coast calamari, and it came with Thai chili sauce; it had the perfect balance of spicy and sweetness. Lastly, we had loaded fries with cheese and bacon; French fries are always a win-win. I stopped by the brewery for a quick meal and a few drinks on my way out of town. The food was delicious. I got a cream of crab soup and a Caesar salad. The salad was well dressed and very good, the soup didn't have as much crab as I would've liked, but tasted delicious. The bar was quiet at that time so I had a great atmosphere for lunch that day. They had a wide selection of beer to choose from. I really liked their flagship and their sour, although I didn't care for the stout. read more

This is a very nice place right next to a golf course. There is a ton of seating here. The host sat us right away and the waitress checked on us not too much but plenty. I ordered the veggie burger and Tator tots. The Tator tots were delicious. Perfectly crispy. The burger was good. I haven't had many black bean burgers to compare but it was good. My husband got we I'm the wings. They were cooked great! The salad was good until we got near the bottom. There was too much dressing at the bottom to finish the salad. I have not left many one star reviews in the past 10 years on Yelp but..... Sorry guys I have to be honest. Hands down, the WORST , SOGGIEST FRENCH FRIES IVE EVER TASTED. the manager explained "they are boardwalk fries'.... Super saturated with grease and disgusting . It's a shame because a lot of people like fries with their sandwiches. Second main problem is the pricing, it's very expensive and I just don't see how it's justified..... Some of the craft brews are good though (Some good beers) I did not say all the sandwiches taste bad, but there very pricey compared to similar options at other restaurants in this town. read more

Big Oyster Brewery is much better at the Lewes Locaton. Food is hit or miss in Milford. Last year I went a couple times a month for their $20 prime rib special. Always ask for med rare if you want medium. It wasn't to bad a deal for the price. I knew it would be on the smaller size and only came with 2 sides, baked potato is not an option. This year I only went for the special 1 time. Price this year is $24 and I guess maybe it was prime rib. Not like one I ever saw. Smaller than last year and not noticeable under all the sliced partically cooked onions. Not the little cute ones like last year with the great flavor, As I tried to cut my meat, some onions went flying as it was hard to cut. Had some calimari even though they don't serve with the tenticles. They have gotten better at cooking those. No more prime rib there. I will drive a little farther and pay a little bit more at The Palace. Their prime rib special you can eat on for 2 days! read more

Positive first. I love the Hammerhead beer so I'm giving 1 star, and I have to give a star to review. This was NOT a good dining experience. 1. We started with the poutine, which is a trifecta of crispy fries, cheese curds, and thick brown gravy doused on fries. The gravy was from a can and so thin it did not adhere to the fries. Poutine is essential with using good gravy for moisture and flavor. The BREADED cheese curds were awful. Cheese curds are to be raw, so they are gooey and melt on the fries. The poutine was not hot and left the most unpleasant taste in your mouth. The staff was not attentive, when the food was presented so I had to reach over and get the plates and napkins. The food so lacked flavor I had to reach for the grinder of salt, and it was empty. The presentation was less than appealing. (see pics) . Added note when ordering the Poutine, it was prepared in 5 minutes after ordering and then served to us. When being asked how the food was. We explained it was not good and as if she didn't hear us she moved on. 2. Our next appetizer was the hot crab dip. The crab dip was food service frozen premade. The nachos were stale and reheated giving a microwave taste. The oil from the nachos left an oil residue in our mouths after consuming. Nachos are a one-time indulgence and should not be reheated. There was no need to tell anyone of the food because she did not ask. We did not finish the appetizers and did not order anymore food. We did not ask for to go bag for the dog because I didn't want her to get sick. After reading the reviews it looks as if most feel this a great place for drinks only but not the food. After purchasing a 4 pack of Hammerhead "to go " the manager checked me out and I was honest and explained the food was not good and we did not finish the appetizers. He proceeds to ask me did I tell anyone. I explained YES! Adding to me they had just put poutine on the menu. As if they made it alright. LOL I realized it wasn't worth it. I really enjoyed my visit to Big Oyster Brewery. I went with my mother and we ate on the back patio. The weather was beautiful as was the scenery of the golf course and trees. I had the fish and chips. They were beer battered and delicious. I asked for malt vinegar and tartar sauce. I did think the tarter was a little weird.. and I can't put my finger on why. My mother had the shrimp and grits. Although she liked them.... I would not recommend them. The grits were dry and the sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce. All in all, not what I consider good shrimp and grits. I suggest the chef take a trip to New Orleans and learn how to make proper shrimp and grits. Very Country Club'esque. Fun chatty crowd. The cheesesteak, this is where everything changed. $17, it did come with (average) fries. The roll was soft or the knife was dull. When they cut it, the roll flattened. It looked like a butterfly or other winged object. The meat was mostly dry. Cheese and extras were sparse and added little flavor. We have eaten at Big Oyster Brewery several times and it never disappointed. Our family came down to visit and we decided to take them there for dinner. Everybody loved their food, the ribs were meaty and tender, the buffalo shrimp poor boy was delicious. Everything was delicious and enjoyable and the service was great. It was very busy in there, but the atmosphere was very comfortable and laid-back , again very enjoyable. If anything the AC needed to be turned down cooler. read more

I have never been anywhere with a group where there were no complaints until last night. The food was cooked the way it was ordered, it came out on time and was very tasty! BLAND! We didn't eat in, so I have no opinion on the service, but the food was seriously disappointing. I do not just mean not seasoned to my taste, I mean no seasoning at all. Had the smoked platter expecting decent bbq at a nearly $40 price point. While the meat was rendered nicely, it had no flavor at all. This means that, not only did they fail to season the ribs, chicken, and pulled pork, but they also didn't bother to smoke what they sell as the SMOKED PLATTER. Also only bothered to sauce the ribs, so there was no way to get any flavor into it w/o drowning it in bbq sauce from the fridge. The sauce on the mac and cheese didn't taste like cheese, just a bland white sauce that most likely came from a can. The soft pretzel was fine while still hot, but hardened immediately after cooling and was intended to be dipped in the same flavorless cheese sauce as the mac and cheese. Didn't try the cheesesteak egg rolls, but others in my family confirm that they also had no seasoning and I could see from the packaging that they were not put together well and only the last quarter of the roll actually had cheese on it. Truly hoping they take some of these reviews to heart. I love the idea of a brew pub in Milford, but from what I experienced, I don't expect they'll last long. read more

This new location of Big Oyster Brewery is beautiful and the atmosphere is really nice. We were not impressed by the food but because the atmosphere was so nice, we will probably return. We had two seafood dishes- a half dozen oysters and the pimento cheese charcuterie. I would not recommend getting the pimento cheese charcuterie, the crab and shrimp on the board just did not taste good or fresh, and for the price, we will probably try another appetizer next time. read more

As far as my steamed shrimp ughhh. i don't appreciate having to take out the poop line while trying to eat it! That should be priority one when offering steamed shrimp! I did not complain as the waitress was very busy. But it is something that should be looked at and your chefs should be scolded for that. If you're going to offer old bay butter then put it in there. It really needs more.The crab dip was ok. Needs a bit more crab to make it worth the price . Mac and cheese was a let down. Just tasted like Béchamel without cheese . I like big oyster brewery in Milford, Delaware. The staff is always friendly and overall the food has been very good. I dined there tonight after Golf and had the salmon with three side dishes. The coleslaw, asparagus, and collard greens. The asparagus was a little salty and you only got five small spears for five dollars. What turned me off most was the food runner that came out with his fingers sticking in my coleslaw and touching one of my asparagus spears. I didn't say anything. I'm living a low stress life these days. I just ate it and went on my way. The waitress was excellent. Although she was totally slammed. I don't drink alcohol and I usually drink coffee. How could you possibly serve coffee and not have half-and-half? They bring non-dairy liquid creamer packets with the coffee. That is insane. What the hell? So the waitress was kind enough to bring me some milk in a plastic cup. My salmon with the three small sides and my cup of coffee and one refill was $47 and I left a $10 tip. I'll be back but I'm bringing my own half-and-half next time. read more

We went today for the first time nice atmosphere but the food and it's presentation was not great. I ordered calamari was ok but nothing to write home about. I then ordered the key lime pie for dessert it was terrible! it was a key lime pudding on a gram cracker crust presentation and taste was terrible part of the crust from the bottom was missing I just would not recommend that. We were so excited it was coming to town I truly hope they get a better chef and present the food better in the future. The food may not be exactly the way you like it but if presented nicely you won't be so negative. I worked as a server for many years and then managed restaurants in Key West , Ct., N.Y. and Pa. We were so excited since we love the Lewes location but honestly the food was disappointing and that may have been the worst service we've ever had. Everyone was truly pleasant, but our server never came back to our table after bringing us our first drinks (well, until check time). We easily would/could have drank many more beers and if we'd needed something with our food we truly would have been S.O.L. tonight. The food was ok but for the price, I'd be able to list off multiple other places to go other than there for the dame amount (and acually be served).
