My wife and I came here on a Friday evening, we did not have a reservation but we were seated right away, it was busy, for larger groups I assume you would have to wait. The manager came as well to ensure we were doing fine. The ambiance is very hip, there is a projector playing old movies, the walls are covered in pictures and tasteful graffiti. The food itself was a bit of a disappointment. The arancini we got as a started was tasty but pretty small. (4 stars) The margarita pizza (3 Stars) was just ok. We would not get it again. The desert was the best thing we tried, the Bannan toffee with icecream was a great (5 stars) combination. The drinks are 15$ for wine. For beer they have some in tap but serve 400ml. Terrible experience tonight. This place coasts on the location however the food is beyond disappointing. Not one of our entrees was decent and we expressed this to our server and was met with arrogance and resistance. The quality of food is simply not there. It is pre-made and served reheated. Had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. After going for a walk on Marine Parade Drive, popped in for a light meal. This is a beautiful restaurant with whitewashed brick and old black and white Italian movies projected on a wall with modern furniture. Very nice. Our server Alex the Greek ( as opposed to the other staff members named Alex ) was amazing ... made us laugh ... suggested some dishes which were home runs and was always attentive. I must say, every dish I tried was elevated in a surprisingly good way. For starters had the focaccia and arancini. The focaccia was fresh and crunchy and it came with an olive and sundried tomato tapenade which was really delicious. The arancini was not your typical rice ball stuffed with mozzarella and served with marinara sauce. The peas and smoked mozzarella was a nice combination that made the dish very tasty. At Alex's suggestion, we got a bottle of Pinot Nero which was quite nice. The home-run of the night was the funghi pizza. I am not much of a mushroom fan but tried it on Alex's suggestion. It was phenomenal. It was probably the thinnest crust pizza I have ever had. It was a perfectly baked white pizza topped with a mushroom puree, parmigiana, hazelnuts, truffle crema and chopped portobello. This was one of best things I've eaten this year. We made a reservation for a Saturday brunch on their heated patio and we got lucky that it was a windy day and we could find a parking spot on Lakeshore, close to the restaurant, otherwise we would've needed to park far from the restaurant. The heated patio is a plus; you can enjoy your food and company outside, but in a warm climate. We ordered steak and scrambled egg, avocado + smoked salmon and egg Benedict. I felt like the Caesar salad didn't have enough dressing, but the crusty bacon or crispy prosciutto on top was thin and melts in your mouth and I haven't had anything like that. We enjoyed our evening here recently, the service was exceptional. As for the food, I do have to admit the food wasnt anything special but we would return for the ambiance and service. The gnocchi was a simple tomato sauce, the sauce was classic and a vegetarian option. The grilled calamari has a nice touch however portion size was small. I came here for my engagement dinner and this place made my night! They gave us a more private dining area on the side with curtains and service was great the whole time. They were so patient with us as we were too excited from the engagement and were taking time to take pictures of ourselves. Once we finally sat down we took time to order and the waiter was really nice. He kept checking in on us and helping. I ordered the Tagliatelle ai funghi with chicken added as well and it tasted amazing! Better than pasta from Italy hahah. Definitely recommend this place for a nice fancy dinner. We didn't mind too much how slow the service was since we were having a nice conversation but when it came to checking out the bill and credit machine was super quick and we suddenly felt rushed. A decent restaurant in Etobicoke if you're in the area. My family and I recently went to celebrate my birthday (I won't say which one ! Starting to sound old!). I didn't realize until we were there but it's the same owners as La Vecchia on Yonge St which I have been to many times in the past, but I haven't been in the last few years. The food at this location was pretty good taste wise. We had the Tagliere di Salumi (Extra Cheese for $8) and the Valentino Salad to start. Both were nice quality and tasty. Although we were a little disappointed by the amount of bread and cheese on the Tagliere (which is why we ordered the extra cheese, probably should have opted for some extra bread as well). I had the Scalopine al Limone which was delicious. Although I was very disappointed by the fact that when I requested pasta instead of the potatoes and vegetables, I was informed that it "Is a common request, which is why we don't do it" and was asked to order a side pasta instead (for $10!). It's worth noting that 1) pasta is cheaper than veggies and potatoes so isn't a cost issue, 2) is is a common request, as they said, and many other restaurants in the GTA would accommodate that easily, and 3) they do have the pasta as a side dish so it is readily available. Anyway, back to the food...my family had the Agnolotti al Zucca, the Branzino alla Livornese, and the Agnello al Forno which were all quite tasty as well. The only side note was that the Angello (lamb) was a little bit small for the price compared to other restaurants. The service was friendly. They gave us a table with a nicer view when we asked and they were nice enough to give us a new bottle when the cork broke as they opened it (although it would've been fine with the original). The ambience of the restaurant was quite nice as well. Built recently so all the furnishings were pretty new and located right on the water in Etobicoke you have a good view if you sit on their heated patio. Overall, the restaurant is a decent choice if you're in the area and looking for something on the waterfront. However, there's some room for improvement on the value side and service when it comes to food options. Practical tips: -When using a GPS to get to the restaurant be careful that it doesn't send you down a closed road. There is a lot of construction going on nearby at the moment so some roads are closed. To get there we took Lakeshore Blvd to Marine Parade Drive which goes around the area. There is a faster route straight through but it's closed right now. -There is some parking on the street, but it may be full during peak hours or the summer. I was looking for a place on lakeshore to enjoy the lake after eating and the fresh breeze. I came across this on Google map. The waitress was good, and you are definitely paying for the service as two managers came by to make sure everything was going well. The waitresses work as a team and help each other out which is a bonus when yours isn't around and you need something. Atmosphere - stunning decoration on the inside. Outside was a bit warm under the patio seating area, even though it was not too sunny. But a bit like a green house effect. Washrooms are unisex and individual (For those who care). Parking - if you're lucky you can find a spot right across the street from the restaurant. Food - I had the Escarola salad. It was basically a large beet sliced, and about 3 lettuce leafs. I was really hungry so I devoured it in no time. Wish I could remember how it tasted. I suppose it was ok but clearly not memorable. For my main meal, I ordered the Linguine ai frutti Di Mare. This took awhile to arrive but when it did it was delicious. Although there were big chunks of tomatoes in there. My guest thought they were canned tomatoes but I'm hoping it wasn't. The linguine had a good amount of seafood medley in it, and was just the right size. At least for me. The basil leaves gave it a nice touch and added flavour. For dessert it was the vanilla ice cream which came with walnuts. A perfect addition to the ice cream. From now on, I will always add walnuts to mine! The only draw back was a dog that was at the patio who kept on barking. Very annoying but who knew the dog was not going to behave. I would definitely return but I would not get the beet salad again. It was $19 for the plate. Not worth it in my eyes. I only noticed this because one of the managers thought we didn't like the portion. It was another table complaining about it and it did make us think twice but I guess if someone else was thinking It then they should change it up. If you want to go on a romantic date this is the place. Eat and then go for a stroll across the street with the Toronto skyline in the background. Bring a light sweater if you do. We were out and about on the Lakeshore and decided we wanted to grab a bite from one of the many restaurants in the area. After some debate, we decided to give La Vecchia a try. We snagged a nice table on the patio, but even though it was a warm evening, they had their heaters on - which meant that it got awfully toasty as the night progressed. We decided to share a couple of items: Escarola Salad ("Roasted beet carpaccio with endive, caramelized onions topped with sweet peas, goat cheese and truffle EVOO"): This fairly large salad certainly had a lot going for it in terms of appearance, and my first few bites were definitely quite enjoyable. The beets are tasty, and the goat cheese and caramelized onions definitely enhance the whole thing. But it feels like an underdressed salad; the very large chunks of endive stood out like a sore thumb, as they were difficult to eat and distractingly bitter. Bolognese Pizza ("Traditional bolognese ragu, topped with 'nduja and Pecorino cheese"): My go-to pasta order at any Italian joint is bolognese, so I knew that I absolutely had to order this pizza. It turns out, however, that there's a reason you don't usually see this kind of thing on a menu. The bolognese sauce was tasty, yes, but it had also dried out substantially in the pizza oven, so the whole thing ate very, very dry. Perhaps the concoction would've been improved by some kind of chili oil, but I wasn't given that option. I can't say I was super impressed by the service, either. Our water needed refilling plenty of times, and the manager (?) kept hovering near our table. It was kind of off-putting. read more

What a delightful find!! Food was delicious, service divine, decor chic and comfortable. All this within a short, hop, skip and Jump to the waterfront and walking trails. I love a great view when dining out - so this was a bonus for me. Such a nice surprise. By the way- Bring your pickiest Italian critiques- I think they'll be impressed. I ordered the fresh pasta with Salmon along with the pear salad with walnuts and the panna cotta. No complaints here. Every delectable bite was perfect. If meeting up with a large group just be sure to warn them that there is no restaurant parking. It is all street parking ( I guess that's the norm in Toronto). To start with the drinks - Tropicana mocktail was very good, usually with mango but since it was not available the substitute was peach and equally good. The complementary bread is equally good. The contadina in pizza - with sauce , cheese, chicken and spinach was super delicious and the portion was great. Pavel is ruining this establishment's reputation as he is the one bad apple spoiling the barrel. The owners (brothers) are fabulous and Roberta is most kind BUT Pavel is always countering what the owners say and expect. For example, my husband and I came for lunch and enjoyed our meal and server who was polite and professional. Wishing to come back, we looked into booking and the owners were kind and gracious in their accommodations and a specialty menu item. As we left the restaurant, we made a stop by the host/hostess stand to confirm the reservation and Pavel said none of what the owners said could be done and that he doesn't know what they're talking about. This left my husband and I perplexed. It seems as though Pavel is more interested in yelling and dictating to staff and customers (pretending he's the owner). To the two wonderful owners...don't trust a wolf in sheep's clothing! Our waiter was very attentive to our needs and brought everything that we ordered in a timely fashion. Every thing was perfect until my spouse ordered a dry cappuccino after dinner with our tiramisu for dessert but instead got a latte macchiato instead. Also there was a mix up with our bill with the couple 2 tables over from us but everything was resolved in the end. There location is in a very nice spot where you can see downtown Toronto across the lake. La Vecchia is the newest Italian restaurant to open at Humber Bay Shores in Etobicoke. Located on the ground floor of Cove at Waterways, La Vecchia is the second location of the original restaurant with over 20 years of history at Yonge and Eglinton. The restaurant offers seating in the main dining room, which has floor-to-ceiling windows letting natural light in, as well as at the long bar running along the back of the dining room, and outdoor patio seating for nice warm days. They've done a nice job with the decor; the ambiance is a step above compared to other restaurants in the area. Melanzane Alla Parmigiana (oven baked eggplant in tomato sauce topped with Parmigiano and fior di latte, topped with basil infusion) was a nice start for the meal. The tomato sauce was tasty and garlicky; the fior di late was nicely melted over the eggplant; the fresh basil leaf on the top was a lovely touch. They did not have lobster for the Pappardelle All'Aragosta, so I opted for the Linguini Ai Frutti di Mare instead (shrimp, PEI mussels, clams and calamari in a white wine tomato sauce); shrimp was fresh, and there was a good amount of seafood in the dish. Panna Cotta (Italian style egg-free creme caramel infused with Grand Marnier liqueur) was the selection to finish the meal. The serving size was on the small side and I was unable to taste any infused Grand Marnier; however, a Grand Marnier sauce was drizzled over the panna cotta, but it was too little. On the positive side, the panna cotta had a nice silky texture and the Grand Marnier sauce was great with the panna cotta. Service was warm, friendly and attentive. (And taste buds) Then came the Margherita pizza and Penne A La Vodka for the girlfriend. First, I did not expect a restaurant to have pizza THIS good. Had a great dinner at La Vecchia this evening. New restaurant in the area and with so many Italian restaurants nearby the competition is fierce. The venue is amazing. They've done a really good job and made it looks so nice that it is easily the nicest looking restaurant in the neighbourhood. The patio is amazing and has great views towards the lake and city skyline. What we had: we split a Caesar salad ($13), beef carpaccio ($17) and each ordered the Branzino ($32) for the main. Thoughts on each dish: Caesar: thoughtless, forgettable and basic. Carpaccio: delicious Branzino: very good overall but I want to be wowed and this was about a 7/10 for me. Service: On point and no complaints Value for money: Ok... I find it is quite pricey considering the food is nothing overly outstanding and feel there are better options nearby. Don't get me wrong the meal was very tasty (other than the Caesar) and I would definitely go back and try some other dishes but I think it is generally pretty average for Italian restaurants and there are lots of really great ones nearby with tastier options. It's really nice to see something a little higher end in the Humber Bay Shores area though and hopefully they are able to improve the food quality with time if they want to become a real destination restaurant. read more
