First dinner in GDL. Scoped out La Garnacha Vegana which kept popping up in GDL's best lists. Totally agree, just on their huaraches alone. Huaraches are slipper-shaped blue corn tortillas topped with mashed beans and toppings. You have three options: get one large (Azteca), two mediums (Maya), or one medium (Meshica). Recommend going with the Aztec to share or if you're a hungry solo; it'll let you try out the different toppings/guisos. What we had:
- Jamaica - most popular, caramelized, flavor and texture goes well with the blue corn. If you don't like floral or all-spice flavors, best to get another option
- Asada soya
- Coliflor
- Potatoes
Also recommend the enchiladas, verde or rojo, with your choice of guisos, the chips and guac, and always the agua del dia. For dessert, they have two stuffed pastries, one with chocolate and the other with a carrot compote filling.
The space is small with four tables that fit about 8-10 people, run by two very friendly ladies. Say hello to Tete (sp); she'll take care of you. This place so good, I had my last dinner here as well. read more
