Friendly staff, good service, but when it doesn't take them any longer to prepare your food than your margarita, that is the first hint it's microwaved from frozen. Food is ok. Not the best not the worst. I went to have a few beers and lunch. Service is a bit slow. They could check on the guests more often. I stayed for one hour and was served a total of 3 beers with my lunch. I was checked on 3 times in one hours time. Ambience....well it's typical but I really just put that word for the review. For some reason when you type food service or ambience it gets highlighted on the review. I usually go to La Veranda during lunch time with co-workers and I love the food. So, tonight I invited my sisters to come join me for dinner there and they had never tried it or been. So, we checked in and sat down at 7:30, 7:45 we walked out. Our drinks or orders weren't taken. We did not have a waitress stop and ask us anything. We had four waitresses walk by and pass us. One came and did say hi but that was only to collect her tip off the table. We were not happy. I was so embarrassed because I bragged about this place. I've eaten here at least three times. As we walked out we informed the lady at the front counter. Hopefully they will pay attention to ALL guests. It seemed like the waitresses kept checking on the people eating already more than once. Seated right away. Order taken right away food came out hot and fresh. I can tell beans were not cooked with Manteca and there were not old like most restaurants. I have since come back many times, and my previous review holds strong. If you come with someone that you are somewhat close with, I recommend the Molcajete Supremo, at $24, it feeds two, maybe 3 people easily. If you order it Mon-Thurs. before dinner, its only $21!! Shrimp, fish, Carne Asada, Carnitas, Nopales, Chicken, and Chorizo sausages all in one hot bowl! Served with rice, beans, tortillas, and salsa! Its the bomb baby! The food was very good. The beans were not salty and the spanish rice was cooked nicely not hard or dry. The wet Burrito with the green sauce was spicy but not to spicy where you cant eat it or enjoy the food. The Caldo de Camaron was huge! plenty of good size shrimp. Add this with the home made tortillas and you cant go wrong. Sadly the sercice was just ok , more of order takers. Let me start by saying this review isnt due to the food. The food was great actually. I went there tonight with a group of 26 to celebrate an anniversary. It took 20 mins for them to come and get our d4inks and over an hour for us to all get our food which they brought out 10 to 15 mins apart from each other. They never came back to check on us until we flagged them down for more water. The WORST PART was that literally all night security was standing right next to us the entire time! If we moved to see the karaoke singer they moved with us. They followed us all night even into the parking lot when we left and all of us felt 100% harassed. It is tasty and delicious. There isn't lard in the beans, which is good if you are vegetarian. Get white rice instead of Mexican if you are veggie. The horchata is cold and refreshing. The chips are crisp with a little Chile sprinkled on top. They have a green and red sauce that isn't too spicy. Friendly staff. Their taco salad is my go to. I've come to this place for many years, the service is a miss or hit, sometimes I get really good attentive servers and sometimes I get really bad ones. This past weekend I went with a group of 15 friends to celebrate my bday, among that group was my brother who is a Special Forces Para Rescue Man in the US Air Force and came home for a week. Our party consumed well more than $400 in food and drinks. The restaurant was rather empty for most of the night. They had karaoke night and the usual Karaoke host German was not there, there was another lady, our group was there for karaoke and to celebrate, we put in a couple of songs to sing, I had only sang two songs and there was not that many people that night and when one of my friends was singing their song I asked the karaoke host lady for the second microphone and she refused to give me the microphone and went on to tell me to leave my friend sing alone and that I had already sang too many songs! I was so upset at her rudeness, I could not believe what she was saying! She then proceeded to visit our table which was all the way in the back to tell us to quiet down that we couldn't be singing loud because the only table that was occupied towards the entrance of the restaurant could hear how loud we were, she basically told my party to shut up! At this point they proceeded to bring one of their so called "security" and place her next to our table to keep an "eye" on us which made many of my guests uncomfortable and like we were some sorts of criminals! We decided to leave this place and the "security" followed us to the outside parking lot and watched to make sure we left! I am very insulted and disappointed at this restaurant, when German is there hosting the Karaoke I don't even have to put my name down to sing, he automatically just brings me the microphone as ask me to sing. I felt very harassed and embarrassed with all of my guest which for most was their first time. I plan on going back and placing a formal complaint with the owner, they really need to do something about their staff and train them with better customer service. Just because this restaurant is a hole in the wall it doesn't mean that only ghetto people go there. Something has changed with this restaurant. We ordered the enchilada plate (2 cheese enchiladas), the taquitos rancheros and my friend ordered something (I can't remember). The taquitos were okay; However the enchiladas were re-heated (frozen product), the sauce was old (sour and didn't taste right) and I don't feel well at all. I think I got food poisoning as I'm writing this. I hope not. To top it all off, they charged me $58 dollars for two beers, a steak plate, enchilada plate and taquitos... really? Feels like, because no one was in there, they charged me extra to make up the losses. Never coming here again.. These people need to really take a long look at what they're doing.. the restaurant is awful. And don't think that, because you turned the lights low, I couldn't tell that my enchilada sauce looked like chocolate sauce. I could tell. Dinner after a long day @ work. The outside, nicer than It's surroundings. The inside is colorful and welcoming. No one meets me at the door, that's ok. Once I have a seat I have friendly, attentive service with a smile. This is what one looks forward to from good family restaurants. I have a simple plate, something light, the fish ceviche. It's fresh. I'm here on kareoke night. The locals are singing their hearts out. Some have no business near a mic but it feels honest and from a passionate place inside. Maybe it was a bad day but the food was gross and the waitress were HORRIBLE. Okay so wife and I went here for dinner. It was a bday/karaoke night (Friday) when we walked in it was so loud we had to shout to the waitress for a quiet place. We were seated in the back of the restaurant acoustics echoed throughout. Literally had to shout to my wife 2 feet away to say anything to her. Food was okay no complaints there. Service was virtually nonexistent as they were spread too thin apparently. Would go 20-30 min without checking for refills etc. had to waive arms like an idiot to get someone attention for service. 3 security guards on duty which raised our eyebrows as well. The family decided to give this place a try after church. It has been newly remodeled. It has pretty authentic Mexican food with an emphasis on seafood dishes. I went for me old standby of beef taquitos with rice and beans. The food was tasty and prices were decent. They have a bar and I decided a michelada was a good beverage of choice. I've been here two times within the last month. There's a lot to like about this place, it's nice looking inside and out, it has a fairly well stocked bar, and the food is fairly tasty. Unfortunately, as mentioned in numerous reviews, the service is nearly non existent, it's like they forget you're there. There was only one other couple in the restaurant today, and both of us were left unattended for an unreasonable amount of time. Word to the owner, you could have made a lot more on me if your gal would have checked in on us from time to time...the wife and I were getting mighty thirsty, a few more beers or a margaritas would have been nice...if only I had the chance to order them. read more

Went here today for 4 tortas 2 asada 2 al pastor. The lady who took my order was very pleasant. I waited outside for about 10 to 15 min. I noticed she was checking on one table in particular that was in front of me but not really the table behind me. Anyways I got my 4 tortas and went home. They were good, however, they could of been a bit more generous on the meat especially for almost $9 a torta. There was also nothing else served with it, fries, rice, beans, etc. There was a roasted chile, which you don't see often, and the salsa molcajete was good. The first time I visted this place we just came in for margaritas, but once we smelled and saw the steaming plates of food come out we had to order! we had the margaritas with the coronitas in them! they were good. then we ordered the meat molcajete. it was soo good. it came with grilled chorizo, mexican cheese, carne asada, shrimp, nopal (cactus), and onions. That was just in the molcajete it also came with the best salsa, housemade corn/flour tortillas, rice and beans. all for $22-26 depending on what you want in the molcajete. (also 4 people ate from just one molcajete) The service was pretty good, it was kinda loud in there the night we went there was karaoke (i didnt mind it too much because it was funny to hear the drunks get up and sing) I have been here 3 times since my first time and the food has been different each time, the first time everything was really good the best mexican food I have ever had, 2nd time the food was ok service was ehh, 3rd time the food was over salted and i didnt eat vey much.
