What an amazing facility. I took my wife to UCI for an outpatient procedure and what a class act. From check-in to check-out the staff were amazingly kind, compassionate and efficient. The parking is a bit crazy but the Facilities are clean and well maintained. My wife was well cared for and the nursing team were phenomenal as was her physician. I also checked out the cafeteria and had a breakfast sandwich and coffee while I waited for my wife to return to the recovery room. A nice experience and my wife is doing well. Highly recommended

*Discrimination Alert!!!! This review is reflective of my deep anger & sadness at the way a loved one of mine has been & is being treated here at this hospital. My loved one has been here since Wednesday suffering with blood clots in their body. In the time my loved one has been here many people have been moved out of the ER & into rooms. The fam has asked when our loved one would get a room only to be told that the rooms are full. Meanwhile it's obvious that this is a far stretch from the truth because other non Hispanics have been moved to rooms. Finally they put our loved one into a very small room with a broken tv. I wholeheartedly want to believe that the treatment is not due to discrimination but upon seeing & hearing the care other people are receiving in contrast to our Hispanic loved one I can't help but feel that discrimination is playing a factor in their treatment. When I visited my loved one yesterday I asked the nurse to check the catheter because my fam. said it felt like it was leaking & took awhile for the nurse to return. I understand that there's a lot of other patients so I get that part. The cardiologist here does not want to do surgery until our loved one has a primary care doctor which is questionable! If they have blood clots near the heart why do they need a primary care doctor?!!! As someone that worked in the medical field for over 10+ years as an M.A. & CPT the care here comes across as lacking!!! The negative reviews here from many others tells a story of people working in a setting they do not belong in. Many of you took an oath that you do not follow. Do better!!!!!!

Too long wait for the resident doctor , even if you want to leave already as all your test are done and you have the results and you can view it as well in the my chart, all they will inform , doctor will have a chat with you and its been 2 hours since that, you are still not discharged from ER, though its not so busy at the moment . And its usual words are "it will take a while" , as a patient you will definitely be more sick staying in an enclosed, cramp ER place. This is my second time here, but will never again will walk into this. So far the worst ER experience i ever have. Instead of the aim is in and out to minimise crowding and prevent things that need prevention , by the experience, seems like it is not practice here.

It's sad that the cafeteria has plenty of healthy options but the patient menu is diner food. Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast? French Toast brioche? You can get yogurt but no plain yogurt, only sweetened. No fresh fruit available to patients but it's in the cafeteria. You can get soda water in the cafeteria but patients get juice or ginger ale or cola or diet cola. The menu is filled with propaganda about healthy food. For whom? I started off at UCI Irvine Hospital. Their menu looked fresh and healthy. I was told it was demographics in Orange. Come on UCI, you can do better. Your patients deserve better.

UCI Medical Center is an amazing hospital with a phenomenal staff that includes the doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists. My brother was brought here after suffering from a Ischemic stroke. The ICU and Neuro Team have worked around the clock to provide him with the best medical treatment. They basically save his life and he's on the road to recovery! God bless all the Doctors, Nurses, and Team here on the 5th floor Neuro ICU. You have been a God send and we can't thank you enough for you're doing for my brother!!

Huge parking structure within walking distance to the pavilions, to see the specialists. Buildings are very new and well maintained. Staff is not so bad considering how busy they get, can seem just a bit impatient if you have questions about some of their forms. Doctors are the best of the best!

They knew he would not be able to swallow

If your doctor recommends this teaching hospital, run the other way! My dear friend with stage 4 prostrate cancer was sent for spine surgery. A normal hospital would have never recommended the horrific metal in his neck Picture: C2-C5, and T-11-L3. They never told him he would NOT BE ABLE to swallow EVER! after the surgery! they wanted to learn on him. 3 weeks he finally needed additional surgery for a feeding tube in his gut for the rest of his short life, and they refused to send him to rehab for they felt NOW he is just going to die, its too late to resume cancer therapy, can't take any drug that might make him through up! This hospital is horrific, dishonest!!!! He had cancer in his spine which had to be removed and all sorts of metal placed to hold the bones together. They robbed him of his qualify of life remaining.

I…read morenoticed several negative reviews regarding the ownership here, but based on my recent life-saving experience, the medical staff, doctors, and nurses deserve nothing but praise. Like any major acquisition, there are growing pains, but the care at the bedside remains excellent. I arrived at the ER in a way I never thought possible. After a 17-hour fast and a severe allergic reaction to medication, my body shut down and I lost consciousness while driving on the freeway. Because my Tesla had Full Self-Driving engaged, the car's monitoring system detected I was unresponsive, slowed down, and safely pulled over to the shoulder--preventing a high-speed catastrophe. My wife was able to alert emergency services via Life360, and when they reached me, I was stabilized enough to stay in the vehicle as it autonomously completed the trip to the hospital. From the moment I "arrived" at the ER and walked in, I was in great hands. I was admitted overnight due to dangerously high troponin levels. Throughout the stay, the nurses and doctors checked on me frequently, kept me comfortable, and monitored my blood work until my levels returned to a safe range. I was discharged within 24 hours feeling alive and well. Huge thanks to the ER staff for their professionalism and care, to my wife for her quick thinking, and to the engineers at Tesla for building technology that literally saves lives when the driver cannot. If you find yourself in an emergency, know that the team here will take great care of you.

It's an ER room - you would think they could have done more for a paying patient. I was told I needed to see my primary doctor. Dr. Ziomeks parting words to me were "I can't help you, if you can even be helped at all". Who says that to a patient before releasing them to leave? My mother was scheduled to have surgery here, which is already a stressful and vulnerable time for any family. Throughout our interaction, she laughing, smirking, and acting with a condescending patronizing attitude while treating my family with utter disrespect. To make matters worse, she showed zero self-awareness and only offered a defensive apology after I directly confronted her about her behavior. The treatment we received from her was so distressing that we ultimately decided to cancel my mom's surgery at this facility. It is incredibly frustrating because the rest of the employees and the doctor were absolutely wonderful, respectful, and professional. It is a shame that one immature staff member's atrocious attitude completely reflects poorly on the rest of a good team. If you are coming here for care, hopefully you do not get assigned to her. I had blood pressure of 224/94, and I called 911 because of chest pain and feeling very tired. I have a history of cardiac issues and had already had a heart attack 20 years ago. I was concerned that I might be having another heart attack, so I went to Garden Grove medical center. I never saw a doctor once admitted to my room! Plenty of "staff" but no doctor! They ran some tests but never told me that they do not have access to the equipment needed to perform cardiac catheterization to look at possible damage to my heart or even say for sure if I had already had a heart attack. However, they knew my troponin was through the roof!! They let me lay in that hospital for 3 days without a way to help me. While there, I shared a room with another patient who required dialysis. They gave that patient dialysis bedside, and they had a tube on the floor that was letting blood waste go down the drain into the shower we both shared. This patient next to me was terribly ill and was coughing non-stop and then on the 3rd day suddenly a paper appeared on the wall, and my family was now required to wear a gown, mask and gloves even though this was never mentioned before and I asked to be moved but they refused! I still don't know what he had but obviously it was very contagious and could have complicated my condition even further. My fiancé came and did basically a jail break because I was leaving AMA- Against medical advice. They would not let me leave! It took 3 hours for this staff member to tell us that she could not find a place with a bed for me anywhere near by and that I needed to stay there. We fought back and said no way! I signed their documents to leave AMA, and we were able to go to my brother's house and call 911 from there. I was taken to Whittier PIH and there they have an outstanding cardiac care unit. It was determined within an hour of my arrival at Whittier PIH that I had one main artery in my heart that was 99% blocked and two others that were at 50%. Garden Grove Medical Center couldn't tell me that after 3 days!!!! If I would have laid in that bed for any more time and I would have lost my life. Thankfully we got out of there and to a place where I could get the care I needed. It scares me for myself and for others that might experience something similar to this. These people are only too happy to bill our insurance and take our money, but they don't want to care for us! I still can't believe they made us wait 3 hours when we wanted to leave to see if they could locate a bed somewhere else which didn't happen! A waste of time and it could have been the end of my life!!!!! Please don't go to this hospital!! You will regret it!

They try to tell me that my husband with dementia isn't even there and don't know his location which is an outright lie! Your staff just has no compassion and should not be in the medical field at all. I am losing my husband to dementia. The staff really has no clue how difficult it is trying to care for someone you love, while watching them as they lose their cognitive abilities. I am all alone with no family to help out and your staff is fighting against me every step of the way. They are so unprofessional, refuse to communicate with me. They just want to deny and argue and now they think it is okay to deny him husband any contact with people he knows and is familiar with when he is already having trouble with confusion and remembering things. This is harmful and NOT helpful to his well being or what is left of it. The staff seriously needs training about HIPPA. HIPPA does not prevent me from speaking with my own husband. They are trying to use that to justify their actions. After multiple call attempts trying to speak with someone and being hung up on I finally went down to speak with your staff directly and was met at the door by two very nasty, hostile security guards with attitudes. The police are helpless. Your staff changed his medications without speaking with me, or his own PCP or neurologist who has been following him closely and treating him for over 5 years. This change of medications has caused his condition to worsen and no one at your facility will even listen. They all think they know better than his own doctors. He has been very combative and aggressive after being in your hospital for 3 weeks and was taken back there against my wishes. Your staff's inhumane treatment of using soft restraints on him is not recommended for dementia/Alzheimer patients. I love my husband very much and have so little time left to spend with him. Your staff is robbing us of that time together. They have lied to me, been very unkind, uncooperative and do not communicate at all. I suspect they are all doing this out of retallation for reporting possible insurance fraud to the insurance company. Your own weekend ER doctor admitted directly to me that some of the tests your staff performs are not necessary because the patient has symtoms but rather are routinely done in order to "get the insurance to cover the confinement". Hopefully you will address these issues as you indicate in your Yelp response to me. You have been holding my husband for nearly a week without any justification. This has caused his long term treament to be delayed twice now because he was locked up in your "Frankenstein Lab". He doesn't have enough life left to recover from the games your staff his playing with him. Someday they will have to answer to God for their unethical treatment to my husband.
