We hired La Villa to handle the catering for our engagement party. The ordering was easy and took almost no time (my preferred way to do things!). On the day of the party, they arrived on time, handled the set up perfectly, and best of all...the food was incredible. Everyone raved about it. The fried chicken, Italian beef sandwiches, and roasted turkey were fantastic. The marinated mushrooms were a big hit. The veggies and rice and potatoes were all great. The pasta dishes were perfect, the chicken fingers and meatballs were tasty. The other munchies and appetizers were terrific. And probably the biggest rave was the mushroom risotto. It was awesome! Delicious, well prepared, and professional. Our guests loved it. Our only problem...we ordered too much! First time at La Villa and I cannot wait to go back. We had the special appetizer of arancini - which was soooo good I could've ordered 5 more and just had that! But we had pizza - classic Chicago thin crust with sausage, onion and garlic. It was absolutely delicious! I took a tiramisu to go - it's homemade according to our server - and it didn't disappoint. We sat in the bar - the booth was a little snug, but the ambiance was great. It's upsetting to see such a nice place have mean workers! I love La villa i think their food is fantastic and the ambiance is super cute and super clean and my best friend got married there, truly it's beautiful! But last night was our staff Christmas party and the bartender assigned to us was rose and legit kept yelling at everyone last night. She would yell that we couldn't order specific things, or that we couldn't get more more drinks at the moment, she even closed the bar EARLY when we paid for 3 hours and then told us to go away:/ it did ruin the Christmas vibe of the night we don't understand why she was so upset we were all nothing but respectful we just asked some questions and she didn't like it and even stomped her feet at us and walked away. read more

Have been going to La Villa on and off since the pandemic. (We don't live particularly close and Chicago is blessed with many fine Italian restaurants.) Pizza has always been good. Dining in also pleasant since staff very outgoing and attentive. Prices reasonable and good sized portions of GOOD food. We all took to-go containers with us. Our eggplant parmigiana, penne with meat sauce, and red clam sauce all tasted delicious the next day. A bonus was that all the diners were serenaded by a choir with Xmas carols for a while as we ate. We came here for take out pizza so I can't review them on their dine in service, although when I picked up the pizza, they were very organized and quick to get my order. If you're dining in you enter through the front entrance on Pulaski. They have a special entrance for take out on Patterson. We ordered their X-Large sausage and an order of bruschetta. The pizza itself was phenomenal and one of the best thin crust in the city. The crust was perfect, it was very cheesy and it had plenty of tasty sausage. It also had the perfect amount of sauce and completed the rest of the pizza perfectly. A very filling pizza and wouldn't mind ordering it again. Their bruschetta was not the best bruschetta, but came at a very cheap price and probably wouldn't mind ordering it again. The tomatoes just didn't taste fresh. It came with seven pieces loaded with tomatoes. Next time I'll probably order garlic bread as well. Overall, a very great value. We all got full and had a lot of left overs. read more

Had a great time at La Villa yesterday. I had lunch with my sisters, and we all had different dishes. They start you out with Foccacia bread and delicious warm Italian bread with a nice chew to it and a dish of olive oil, garlic, balsamic vinegar, and spices for dipping. It was very good. A lot of restaurants are charging for a house salad and fees for using your credit card, so my sister asked the server "does a salad come with the entree"? The server said certain entrees include both soup and salad and the chicken dishes includes both. Our soup choices were Minestrone or Chicken Rice, I ordered the Minestrone and my sisters ordered the Chicken Rice. My sister liked the Chicken Rice Soup so much that she ordered a quart of it to go. We tried each other's dishes and my sister said I wish I ordered what you ordered (Chicken Francese). One sister ordered Chicken Marsala the other sister ordered Chicken Parm and I ordered the Chicken Francese (lemon butter, white wine sauce). All entrees have a bed of Angel Hair Pasta, the menu says "over spaghetti" on some dishes but all of ours had Angel Hair. The Chicken Parm had two huge chicken breasts dwarfing the Angel Hair Pasta. One chicken breast is plenty for most people, take the other one home. My other sister said that the Chicken Marsala was just "OK". I thought my Chicken Francese was really good. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I ordered Tiramisu with three forks and coffee. The coffee was very good and fresh. The Tiramisu was smooth with lots of whipped cream but didn't have much of a liquor taste. La Ville charges a 3 1/2 pct credit card fee. We joined as a party of three on a Sunday night - the La Villa Restaurant, in Chicago's Old Irving Park Area. Charming old school dining room, patio with a pool. All very nice and well maintained. We did notice immediately is a loud dining room - the ceiling and walls are hard surfaces; you hear everyone's conversation - a little too much - hard to hear for a normal dinner conversation. Several of the local speak quite load - but that is part of Vietnam - we got use to it. If they had other options, I would has selected an intimate and more quiet location. The restaurant is small. Nice modern bathrooms. The staff was welcoming, there are several menus, and it took us a bit to digest all the material. The staff was not helpful when it comes to explaining the menu in English. They struggle with English and had difficulty understanding our questions and we really struggled to understand what they were saying in English. I understand the struggle - but a Michelin rated establishment should have the ability to explain the menu in English. We have visited several Michelin restaurants in Saigon and this was the first that lack a quality English speaking staff. The next problem is they start rushing us from the moment we sat down, pushing us to order champaign from the cart - we politely ask them to give is a moment to read the menu first. Next, they started service canapés while we were trying to figure out the menu - next they told us to start eating before it gets cold - a bit pushy. Then they did it again, we still had not finished looking at the menu and they bring more canapés and push us to eat it fast - even without explaining the menu or taking our order. At this point I asked them to please slow down, that we need to understand the menu. The whole family stopped at La Villa restaurant after a long flight that arrived in ORD and we as it was a good place to stop before our 2 hour drive. We had a wonderful dinner. Our server, Christopher, was fantastic. His recommendations were spot on and the food was really good. Born and raised as a Portage Park Chicago native, it's without question that La Villa is a staple. It's been around for well over 40+ years and it's a must try at least once. I have great memories here attending the banquet halls in grammar school. The pizza is delicious, stick with the thin crust. Although, sometimes it can really be hit or miss depending on the day and time you order. I usually find if they are busy (over an hour delivery time) it won't be as good. They are very popular and have tons of deliveries on the northwest side. I usually stick with delivery but pick up wouldn't hurt if you are in the area. All in all, it's good. I would recommend to just stick with the pizza as their sides can be hit or miss. I have gotten their fries and bruschetta in the past and it was great. Recently, the fries, jalapeño poppers and mozzarella sticks were soggy. This may have to do with delivery so pick up may be best. read more

Like last time we were here we ate here between the appetizer, bread, soup & salad bar, by the time the main entree came I barely touched it except to say I tried it and took the rest home for a meal for tomorrow (true Gluttony).
