We went around 1pm on a Sat without a reservation and were seated right away. The interior is beautifully decorated with lots of seating; this place is great for large groups. The middle bench seats could easily fit 6-8 people. The ciders were the stars of the day. I got the classic flight (3 ciders) and the trust us flight (2 ciders and 1 beer) where it's a surprise. My favorite was the Pedestrian which is the classic apple cider. I'm particular about apple ciders due to the after taste, but this one tasted clean. The other ciders were excellent as well and fun to try. The pepper jam definitely had that spicy kick; I wish I could've tasted the peach more though. I definitely would come back to try the other ciders. We made it during brunch so I got the Brisket Burrito. It's a large burrito packed with ingredients. I couldn't really taste the jalapeños so I used the tomatillo and Cholula. I think the price might be due to the brisket. You got a big brisket flavor with every bite. I would want to try something else next time though. We also got the cinnamon sugar soft pretzel. Our server recommended the churros instead, but we went with the pretzel, a brunch menu item. It was a delicious way to end the day. The pretzel was soft, warm, and the cream cheese mascarpone melted easily. I imagine the churros would be just as yummy.

This place is busy every Friday night and the weekends but the service is quick. Ordered the spicy strawberry cider and passionfruit cider. They were wonderful as the flavors came through clearly, but were not overly sweet. Off you are using public transportation It's a five min walk from the blue line Irving Park stop.

Was meaning to come here for a while, and when finally made it, so glad I did! The ciders are incredible, but the mixed drinks - well, your loss if you didn't order at least one off the menu. Plus the ambiance is out of this world. Housed in an architectural landmark, Eris takes all the wins for the place to be, either it's a happy hour, leisure date on a weekend or brunch get together with your pals. Don't let the cidery in the name fool you - tell the beer, it's welcome here. Eris has some top notch beer too - easily competes with any of the so called breweries in the area. I am a returning customer. And so should you be.

Eris is a beautiful space, with great cider and drinks. We had delicious food, with options for vegetarians. The staff was friendly and the service was quick.

Staying with some friends, I asked them to take me to some of their favorite bars around Chicago. After a day exploring downtown Chicago, they brought me to ERIS Brewery and Cider House and I totally understand why this is one of their favorites! Three of us walked over at about 8:30pm on a Sunday and were able to grab a seat at the end of the bar. As we walked inside, I saw the pet-friendly outdoor patio was filled with plenty of families grabbing a late dinner and was impressed how nice it was. The inside space is beautiful, and I was told it was an old firehouse that was repurposed, very cool! Plenty of tables inside and a long bar hugging one of the walls. Our bar tender was an incredibly friendly, fun young woman who chatted right along with us, providing solid recommendations. She did a great job taking care of us! To start, not being from Chicago, I heard about the "Chicago Handshake", and saw on their menu they had their take on it - "ERISian Handshake". The three of us ordered this and for my chaser, I went with their E-Phoria cider, a blend of Gala apples and vanilla. The initial taste of Malört was not bad but when it sat on my tongue afterward, I was VERY glad to have E-Phoria right there. haha Afterward, I ordered a flight, which is three, 5 oz. pours. For my three, I went with their Queen Amburana II (cider), Wheat Like Waves (hefeweizen), and Janie's Got a Haze (hazy IPA). The cider was very tasty, like an apple pie in a glass. The beers were tasty too, but the cider was the standout for me. The cost of the flight was $10, not a bad price. I really enjoyed my experience at ERIS! The space is beautiful, and the customer service was excellent! I would definitely come back for a flight at the bar.

Indulge in chaos and flavor that Eris brings to the table! Went to @erischicago last night and definitely was such an amazing place! I've passed by this place many times but never went in and so thankful to have tried all their amazing food from the cheese curds to the salmon to the cauliflower wrap and don't forget the brewed cider they make in house! Got the Mangorillo and Passion Project (not pictured) and everything at this restaurant was perfection! Everyone is so sweet and the service was fast which was great:) check this place out for a night out they even have a gorgeous patio where you can sit outside and enjoy some brews!

Not at all worth the price for food!!! First of all... I'm all about women owned businesses and feeding the stomach-sensitive appetites. I truly commend anyone with those efforts, kudos! We loved the location nearby our airbnb and the dog/friendly outdoor patio. I would definitely come back for the ciders. However, this place is HIGHLY overpriced for what you get and in no way does that constitute the outrageous pricing for subpar food, especially given the basic ingredients and lackluster menu. And BEWARE-- nothing comes with sides AND they charge a 3% fee for 'restaurant/food" costs but... WHY??? When your prices are already above market value, considering the portions and quality. $18-20 for a plain burger plus $4/5 for a side, for example...really? $15 for a Caesar salad that had barely any dressing (a big NO-NO in my book), no real veggies or large quantity, skimpy cheap Parmesan... and no meat?! Heck no. $14 for a Mac n cheese, which flavor was ok, but the cream had split and was grainy, a culinary basic that they totally missed the mark on. $12 Cauliflower fried nuggets kids meal were the best part of the meal being smoky seasoned and tossed in sauce. Bathrooms are upstairs, so no accessibility for those that need it. :(

This place is great and has a ton of cider options. Unfortunately we are more beer people and they only had 2 options of their own beer but to make up for it they offer other breweries beer. We had the IPA and it was pretty good and they have a handshake special where you can add a shot of malort. I had the chicken sandwich and it was amazing! Highly recommend! It is crispy and has a little bit of spice to it but nothing too crazy just delicious. The space is really big and has inside and outside seating and were even having a festival outside on a different day so check out their schedule for upcoming events. Our server was really knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. They got really busy towards the end of our meal so took longer to get the check but still our server had a positive attitude and we will be back!

The food was great: we had the pretzel, chicken and fries, fried pickles, and the peanut butter parfait. Everything was yummy, and it was just a nice experience with nice ambiance. Our server was friendly and helpful, and our daughter "Eris" got a free craft soda, because well... Eris dined at Eris!

Loved the vibe of Eris. The staff was kind and prompt with service, the beer was cold and delicious. We got more than just fried pickles, we also got the mac n cheese and a Caesar salad, both were great, but the Mac was something to write home about. That cheese sauce was really smooth and creamy.

Recommendations include: the pickle chips and the blueberry cider. I came here with a friend for their happy hour and the prices of the drinks were very reasonable. Highly recommend the blueberry cider, fruit forward and refreshing. It's the perfect summer drink. For the food, it's a bit pricey but good quality using fresh ingredients. My friend really enjoyed her spicy cauliflower wrap. The outdoor patio area is really fun. It's got lots of games and would be great to come with friends or even kids. Service was efficient. The place was a little packed so we had to flag the server on a few occasions to get our entree order in and our bill, but the staff are very friendly and give great recommendations from the menu. Would definitely come here again! I recommend visiting this place for their drinks and great patio area.

Our third time dining at Eris was complete with all of the reasons we have both enjoyed it in the past, and reminders of what has kept us from coming back more often. The Good: - The decor inside and out is great, definitely one of the better patios you could ask for in the warmer months - They offer a great variety of their cider, most of which, even as someone who doesn't love ciders, is quite good - The menu is varied and caters wonderfully to vegetarians and those with other dietary restrictions The Ok: - The food. It's good, not great. Solid portions, but nothing more special in ingredients or execution than a decent brewpup. You get points for the variety, but... The Bad: - The prices are quite high. The peach and quinoa salad is $16 by itself, and another $6+ for a small amount of protein. The cauliflower wrap, again, is a big portion. But at these prices, they don't even come with a side? This isn't fine dining where you come to expect it, and it's a bit much to ask for $22+ for a decent wrap or sandwich with fries. - The service on the patio, for the third time over two years, is pretty lackluster. You might wait 10 or 15 minutes before you acknowledged, and the same to get your drinks. When we did get our appetizer, we were immediately ask for entree orders (which we weren't ready for). Another 20+ minutes went by before we were approached again. When our entrees came, we were never asked how everything was, despite our waiter passing by us several times. This has happened before here and I never understand it. You could have twisted our arm for a second round of drinks, but not when I had to flag you down for the check after we hadn't had our table touched in a half hour. ERIS is probably best served as a quick snack and a drink spot, particularly outdoors in the summer. But at nearly $100 for an app, two light entrees, and two ciders, with very poor, unengaged service, it simply isn't worth it.

Eris Brewery and Cider House Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Eris Brewery and Cider House

Does Eris have a happy hour (and if so, what/when is it)?

Do they really close @ 9 during the week?

What happened to the parking lot ? Are we supposed to arrive by bus or walking?

There is usually street parking available.

Are your outdoor dining available this week?

It depends on weather. Tonight we didn’t set up the patio due to snow, but Thursday and Sunday are looking pretty good. Wednesday looks like a good bet, too, but windy.

Will outdoor dining be offered again now that indoor dining will be suspended again for the second time due to the pandemic?

Yes! We never stopped with the patio service. We have propane heaters but have exterior heating improvements planned in the coming weeks. Katy

    Is the patio dog friendly?

    Yes indeed!

Is there wine available on the menu as well?

Yes! Menu lists a Californian Chardonnay, South African Sauvignon Blanc, California Cabernet, and French Grenache (with a typical “subject to change” disclaimer).

Is this place open? I have been trying to call several times to see if they accept reservation, but no answer. Their website is also under construction. Thanks.

It's been open since the end of January and it's scrumptious. Go to their FB page :)

What's the car parking situation like here on a Saturday evening? Will it be tough to find a street spot?

Small lot that will be full. Metered parking all down irving park though

How kid friendly is Eris? We have a four year old and newborn? Will people hate us? Is there an atmosphere of a city restaurant comparable?

Small Children Abound - ... but bring snacks/activities as the wait could be a bit long for the little ones.

How friendly is the kitchen/menu for folks with wheat allergies?

Several gluten free options clearly marked as such, and several vegetarian and vegan options.

Do u have a menu on line?

It seems they're still working on their website. You can find photos of the menu , which are decidedly tough to read on Yelp and Eater.com.

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The inside is moody with dark wood finishes, black accents, and elegant artwork & feature lighting. Upon entering, one checks in at the first floor host stand. A server brings you upstairs to the dining area. There is a mixture of two and four tops in the space and our table had a handwritten note congratulating us on our anniversary. Our seat allowed both of us to have a view of the kitchen window to watch the chefs prep courses. There were 3-4 servers that serviced the entire dining room and rotated in presenting dishes. They started with warm towelettes to wash your hands which was a nice touch. Service level throughout was impeccable with water refills, explaining the menu, delightful demeanor, fresh silverware per course, and wiping the table clean from anything that dropped. This was certainly one of the best hospitality levels at a one star I've experienced. Dinner was 12 courses including the amuse-bouche and final treats. There was not one course that didn't offer bright, fresh flavors. The presentation of plates were beautiful from every angle. It's hard to pick any top dish as everything was unique and special in their own way; but I am still thinking about the Crab Bite, Sablefish, and Pasta Course. After dinner, each guest got a complimentary bag full of goodies to enjoy at home. What a beautiful final touch! Moody Tongue as a whole far exceeded my expectations. Each dish offered something familiar in a new way that left me speechless. I highly recommend coming to fully experiencing everything they have to offer as you will not be disappointed! Thank you again so much to their team for making our special night unforgettable. Tip: There is free parking on Wabash & 25th but also meter parking on 26th.

I had the single cheeseburger and it lived up to the hype. I learned that the single burger is actually a double and the double is actually a triple. I was recommended to add an egg and bacon to the burger and I'm glad I did. Each bite was a glorious burst of flavor. The bacon is epic. Thick juicy slices. The cheeseburger was perfect. I didn't need additional condiments and that never happens for me. The fries were good too and came with a delicious aioli. For beverages, I loved my Arnold Palmer. I also tried a cocktail--the Long Island Iced Coffee. It was pretty strong. I added a shot of bourbon cream to it and that sweetened it up and made it perfect for me. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for dessert. Cute restaurant. Cozy inside. They have an outdoor patio as well. If you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait. Excellent food. Excellent service. Jennifer took great care of me and made great suggestions. It's pricy but it's worth it.

The process of getting seated through a busy period, and the service throughout was excellent. But as often happens with me, the food didn't live up to the hype. My wife and I were picking up my brother and his son from O'Hare at around 10 am on a Saturday. We had dinner plans with our uncle, but had not planned anything in between. The flight came in on time, and once confirmed we all had the time, my brother suggested going to Chicago to try Au Cheval. He knew about their location LV, but none of us had tried their original location in Chicago. So we drove into Chicago, arriving at the restaurant at 11 (it opens at 10am). There was a check-in stand set-up outside, where someone was taking names/phone numbers to put on the waiting list. We were quoted a 45 minute wait, and got the text to hurry back after about 30 minutes. There was a line to put your name down on the list, so we skipped that by going right in. The friendly hostess seated us in a booth, with a nice view of the kitchen where they were making the burgers in mass. The waitress explained that a single burger meant two patties (each patty is 4 oz, so basically a half pound burger), and a double meaning three. My brother and his son both ordered a double cheeseburger ($19.99 each), and I got a single with added sunny side up egg ($21.48). I wanted my wife to be able to take a bite, so asked for everything to be on the side (sauce, dill pickle slices, and grilled onion bits). We also ordered french fries ($8.99), cooked in duck fat. In the meanwhile, followed a fellow yelpers suggestion and got two Allagash Whites ($9 each) for me and my nephew. It's a really good beer that I've had many times during happy hour, and goes great with rich, greasy food. My wife got something else: the General Janes Chicken, which is their version of Korean Fried Chicken ($24.98). She enjoyed it (the coating was still crispy, and the sauce had that pronounced kochujang flavor that we like). Everything is a la carte here (except for the complementary pickle spear with burgers), so she shared in the ordered fries. Food came out together and was served hot. There is a mandatory 3.25% surcharge, and payment is taken at the table. As mentioned, service was excellent throughout. To be honest, I'm not the right person to judge a burger like this (I like it backyard style, with a lot of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles...and mayo/ketchup). But my brother and nephew are (they have tried many, many burgers all across the world, and don't like too much toppings on their burger), and they said the burger was just OK for them. I liked the frites (cooked in duck fat)...very light in color, but still crispy on the outside. However, nobody else really ate them, saying they weren't great. It's unusual for me to be the least critical after dining, but I'm sure it had something to do with the observation that I didn't have to pay for it (since it was my brother's treat).

For certain it's not the most extensive but there's some interesting things to choose from. This is also a great place for gatherings and parties. Beers are the main thing of course. It's basically the only thing to be honest. There's not even any TVs for watching games or whatever. Focus more on the beers. It's about $7 a pint. Best we had of these was the Hefeweizen. This is a pretty standard German one. Also they make cans of sparkling water for those not wanting alcohol. The taproom is pretty big with long tables. Has no TVs meaning there's no big crowds for games. This is great for those not watching any types of sports. Find a few great beers here. It's located close to the Ashland Green Line station. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
