I would give then -100 if I could. This rating is entirely due to the rude, crude, and unwelcoming demeanor of the owner. Working just down the street, we have ordered food and dined there a few times a year. When we dine-in, it is always 20-25 people. If they weather is nice, we like the patio. We've always felt welcomed and been generally pleased with the fare and the service. This time? No. The last time I will ever step foot in that place? Yes. We had a party of 25. We pre-booked a week in advance. We were told we had to talk to the owner and asked to call back the next day. Odd, that never happened, before. I WAS ASKED to call back the next day. I called back the next day and was told the same. I gave my number and got a call back from the owner, who said the pizza and salad buffet we usually had cost more (I get that) and they would only serve us food for an hour, with the larger pizzas we would get, only available for take-out or delivery (I surely didn't get that), AND we had to give a depot (also a new thing I didn't get). In spite of these red flags, I offered to make a deposit over the phone. He told me to call him the next day or to come into the place to make a deposit. I called... he wasn't there. I, the customer bringing 25 people to this restaurant, was too busy to get there. So, on the day of the event, I went there early. The owner was there, and it all went downhill in minutes with him saying, "you can't come in here and take over half the restaurant for free." Free? We would have certainly paid. He would not let us rearrange any tables, so we could sit together. He did not want our business and was unprepared to serve us (I do not believe he had the staff). Mind you there were only 6 other guests in the place. What to do, our guests would start trickling in soon? We had to find another venue. I called another place we frequent across the street. They said, "give us 30 minutes to set-up a banquet table for you." Done. We reluctantly, ordered drinks and were pleased by the attentiveness of the bartender/service who pleasant demeanor was a most welcomed change from the surly owner. We paid our bill, as we didn't expect the drinks for FREE, tipped the nice lady, and gladly left fairly certain our tab was the largest they were going to see that evening. After our fabulous time and excellent service and great food at the place that accomodated us, I had to come to GCP as my car was parked on the street right there. There were like two people sitting at the bar. It would not surprise me if this place were to fail and close soon. Given the customer service mindset of the owner, it is the trajectory he has placed his business on. If there were a "negative-star" rating, I would use it for the first time in my life. We pre-booked a reservation for a party of 25, having held the same gathering there the last 2 years. We were told we needed to make a deposit, which we were open to doing, and then arrived at our scheduled time to an empty restaurant and yet told we were not allowed to move tables in order to sit together. "You cannot take over the whole restaurant for free". The manager / owner's attitude was horrifying, with absolutely no interest in our business. We waited for our guests to come, had a drink and promptly moved across the street where a wonderful restaurant gladly accommodated us. I love this place so much. Me and my sister have been coming here for years when we didn't know what to eat. The cheese is so yummy, always hot when getting it too! They also give out a slice of pizza and a drink for 5 dollars! The slice of pizza is so large, can fill you up when hungry. Worth your money i promise! The service is so good too. With "Tap" in its name, it should not be a surprise that they have a nice and lengthy beer list, including some specials scrawled on a chalkboard. Our server was super patient with us as we were initially socializing rather than perusing the menu. The three of us split a caprese salad, and our server noted that it featured four tomatoes so this appetizer would be a math problem for us. I don't know if one can describe a salad as meaty, but thick slabs of buffalo mozzarella and strands of basil adorned the solid whole tomatoes on the plate. Nutritious and delicious! We ordered a medium Greek Pizza, with the circular pizza cut into a grid of pieces. The toppings included spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, but the dominant ingredient was the blanket of gooey cheese. The edge pieces offered a satisfying crunch. Ordered pizza from this place at 8:45pm, was told to wait an hour after ordering by a guy named Michael. Called in at 10:10 just to check in to see where my pizza is because i know if it takes longer than an hour, the pizza will be luke warm or cold. Michael answered and when i asked where my pizza was, he told me he needs to call the driver to find out. He never returned my called, so i called back and he had the audacity to put me on hold and hang up. I called again but the same result. I gave it another five mins and called again. He finally answered but couldn't give me a clear answer as to why my food didn't make it to me on time other than that the driver is older while I was given no explanation for the three times I was hung up on. Now the driver showed up and had to be on drugs the way he was acting. I was a customer of 15+ yrs and I'll never deal with this again. When in town, this is my go to for pizza. Just like the name says, the crust is golden and delicious. The service has always been friendly, prompt, and welcoming. The pizzas have ample, good quality ingredients with reasonable pricing. Calamari, wings were both flavorful and cooked right. What's a standout and memorable is the garlic bread. It's delicious and very filling. It's the size and style of a small round pizza, definitely not your average garlic bread or breadsticks. The restaurant/bar has that neighborhood feel to it, where the wait staff knows your name. Actually, our waiter did remember us from a previous visit. There are plenty of televisions throughout that are visible wherever you are seated. There is also a nice size covered patio. Although this is a pizza joint, I'd suggest you come on Sunday and give their brunch a try. They offer Bloody Mary specials, make a good egged Benedict, and delicious, light and fluffy pancakes. The only slight drawback is the accessibility. My son was temporarily in a wheelchair and there's a slight incline in the front entrance. That was a little difficult to maneuver. He also had issues entering the restroom, luckily staff assisted him with the door. I order tonight from Golden Crust. We generally love their food. Today was the first time I used their online order option. BAD MISTAKE! First my order was over an hour late. And when it did come it was cold and needed to be reheated. Second my pizza wasn't close to what I ordered. I had to call Golden Crust twice! Once to find if my order was going to be delivered- I was told it just went out and should be at my door shortly. Delivery driver called right after I called looking for my order. My second call was because the pizza was WRONG. The man was absolutely RUDE! Told me I got what I ordered, ah NO! I order a half cheese/half pineapple and Canadian Bacon. I got a full pepperoni and half CB. Not even close. He continued to tell me the order was right, yet ADMITTED ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM SCREWS UP ORDERS CONTINUALLY! He repeated over and over call in the order to insure I get the right pizza. So by his own admission- I ordered something else but their system is flawed and I got the wrong pizza. But it's my fault! And I gave to eat the cost of their mistake. Further more my order was sitting around cooling off for that hour. Not only did their system screw up but it sat around not getting sent for delivery. I understand mistakes happen, but to tell the customer it's their fault for not calling the order in isn't acceptable. For my order to be an hour late and cold isn't acceptable. Five stars for the pizza, three stars for the experience I recently had when dining in-house, resulting in a generous four stars total. Golden Crust has awesome pizza. The thin crust is amazing and last night I had the thick crust for the first time too, which is really awesome except for the crust, which is kind of boring. I will likely just stick to ordering take-out from here now on though, because although our server last night was nice, she was not particularly attentive. My friend's beer was flat and my gin and tonics left much to be desired. It was crowded and loud inside, and people were moving tables all over the place which was annoying: it definitely has a very sports bar vibe. They have a nice outdoor patio that's open during the warmer months, which is the only time I will ever concede to dine in at Golden Crust again. My daughter's father loves this establishment because of its pizza and 3 Floyd's beer selection. I like this place because of the numerous beer specials. Every once in a while, I bring my 4 year old daughter here; however, when I do, I don't drink whenever she's present. Of course, in any establishment that serves liquor, my daughter cannot post up in a bar counter seats, only dining tables. I love fruity beers, so I had the Lost Coast Tangerine ($5) and an Apple cider beer made from Michigan apples ($6). The cider beer is clear and smooth. Both were enjoyable.
