    I had a lovely quiet breakfast here during a weekday morning in Montmartre. Great place to enjoy coffee and people watch.

    Good food, AMAZING dessert. This restaurant was recommended by a friend's host mom so we decided to go here after some delegation amongst ourselves. It's located along a busy street in the 18th arrondissement with many other restaurants and a very friendly crêpe shop in the area. The entrance was a little hard to spot unless you see people or the staff coming in and out of the tiny door in the wall. There's a tiny gap between a few tables outside where the entrance is. The restaurant is in a corner and you'd think the corner is the entrance, but that's blocked by signs. Once you get in the restaurant you'll be greeted by the nice decor and friendly atmosphere, but the size of the restaurant is rather small. You'll be sitting very close to others or nearly touching elbows if you're sitting in individual chairs and not the couch seat they have. I ordered the salmon and steak combo (~€22). While waiting for the food we drank the tap water that they provided in this tiny jug all too fast to where we have to slow down our drinking since the waiter took a while to refill. The restaurant was busy for their dinner rush so I'll give that to her, but the restaurant was so small she always walked past our empty bottle whenever she's going up and down the restaurant. The food for 2 of the 4 people in the group came out first and my friend and I were waiting for ours to come out but it didn't for another few minutes which was strange because you'd think they would all come out together. The salmon was a little disappointing in terms of size, but the flavor it packed was amazing. It was presented in a nice fashion which is okay, but we're here for food and the taste is what matters most to me. Thankfully, the salmon didn't disappoint in that category. I'm a big fish person and growing up in Boston the fish there was out of this world. East coast fish definitely beats the fish in the Pacific Northwest and this salmon tasted just as good like the ones I get in Boston Harbor. The salmon had this sweet-tasting sauce on the plate too to dip with. The sauce was nice; a little too sweet for my taste. The steak was small as well, but packed a punch. There were a lot of sea salt sprinkled all over the top of the steak which made the first few bites really hard to eat so I removed a lot of the sea salt. There was also a dip that tasted like béarnaise, but I couldn't tell exactly what it was. It complemented the steak. It also came with some fries and the restaurant provided ketchup packets when requested. The star of the night was the dessert; profiteroles. Although I don't have a picture of it, we are definitely going back to this restaurant again to have it because it's not the same anywhere else (so far). It was greatly presented with a row of ice cream inside cream puffs lined up with whip cream, chocolate syrup, and powder sugar over the entire plate. It was my first time having it and it was one of the best desserts I've ever ate. I'd highly recommend this restaurant as someone recommended this to us. I would definitely recommend getting the profiteroles because if you don't, you'll really regret wasting your time going to La Villa des Abbesses without trying what I think is the best item on the menu.

    I'm fully convinced that the restaurants on Rue des Abbesses are a cut above anything higher up on Montmartre. We hiked down the hill and again had a great meal on this street. I'd love to come back and try more of them! The service here was a tad slow but it was friendly and we had a ball just people watching. The food was kind of simple but it was delicious. It capped off a really fun evening.

    Unbelievable goat cheese

    This was one of the top meals we've had in Paris. We walked Abbesses looking for an open outside table and scored the last table in this restaurant. We were only looking for wine and a light meal before heading to the jazz club and what we stumbled upon was perfection. The goat cheese plate was absolutely divine. Coated in nuts and served with a fresh citrus salsa, I couldn't get enough of this plate. But the onion soup? This onion soup was the best in Paris. Every element was better than the next and we slurped it up like it was the last meal we would ever eat. If you're lost between all the decisions on Abbesses or Montmartre... head here and I'm sure you're guaranteed an amazing meal.

    Mediocre food with bad service. Very disappointed to spend money here. Although, it's located in a nice part of Montmartre.

Luckily we walked 6miles that day and skipped lunch. Started with a garden salad, but sadly we had no room for dessert. Reservations via email. We managed to get a 9pm reso, last minute, I bet due to a cancellation. They have 2seatings...6pm & 9pm.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
