Our party of 4 really enjoyed our final dinner in Paris here. This restaurant is located near the the big traffic circle that is about a 10 minute walk from the Marriott Rive-Gauche where we were staying. There are many restaurants and cafes in the area and we just checked the menu and the occupancy (it was busy and vibrant) of several places, and we just picked this one. It was a great choice. Habib was our energetic and engaging server and I learned he hailed from Tunisia. We ordered appetizers of calamari and a serving of 6 huge escargots. For entrees, we had lamb shank (mine) , flank steak, penne pasta with ham, and a prawn dinner entree. It was all delicious and the bill was a very reasonable 103.4 euros or $117.65 USD. Nice cafe across street from Paris Catacombs.  Everyone working here was very pleasant, quick to serve, seemed a bit overwhelmed at times, but very nice.  I wouldn't suggest going when they are extremely busy, but the time of afternoon we went seemed to be a good pace for them. Café Daguerre is a small cafe that bookends Rue Daguerre. Comprising of a well stocked bar and an outdoor dining space, the cafe is both welcoming and homely. You pick any open table of your pleasing, then wait until the lively waiter greets you and hands you a small menu of drinks. I started off by getting the Campari Mojito (7.5€) which is a spin on the classic drink. The Campari added a nice touch to the minty taste of the Mojito and overall the drink was well balanced and refreshing (as any good Mojito should be!) 5/5 To follow the Mojito I ordered a Tartine called the meridianale (10€) , which was a beautifully toasted whole grain bread with roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes and eggplant, topped off with a hearty helping of a mozzarella gratine. While the bread and the vegetables were great and complimented each other, the cheese was slightly overpowering and a little on the heavy side. The cheese had a very nice smoky quality that would have been wonderful in a more reasonable amount. The dish was also served with a small side salad that was slightly bland and ordinary. (3/5) Overall the Café Daguerre was a pleasant experience due to its vivacious outdoor atmosphere and it's well crafted cocktails. read more

We found this cafe around the area as we searched for a restaurant that still had their kitchen open. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Despite the fact our waitress was super awesome, this place was just really fun and cool to be at, right on the corner of Rue Daguerre. At first the waitress spoke French w/me as I tried to decide where to sit, then she overheard my husband and I speaking English and she started speaking English, but perhaps my pouting as she walked away to get our menus worked, as she returned with a French one for me and an English one for Theron. As we'd already had a pretty hearty dinner snack just down the street, we opted for desserts. The crepes here are really terrific - and this is coming from a gal who has had many an excellent street-crepe. They are sweet, fluffy, and come with lots of options for fillings. Of course the fact they set the grand marnier on fire table-side was a cute stunt we couldn't pass up. The nutella crepe was of course by and far the winner (when is it not?) - though my hubby also loved the apple tatin I ordered, which came with only crust on the bottom and excellent, pure vanilla-ice cream. Here is where I tried (finally) for the first time on this trip the local pastis (an anise flavored drink) - think licorice... and Theron had the grogg (hot rhum with hot water and sugar served on the side). Our very first place we came to eat after we landed. Intimidated at first because the menu was all in French and, well, we do not speak French...but the waiter spoke English very well. During the meal we realized that in fact we are sitting in smoking section. We'll have to be more careful next time where we sit; thankfully it was all outside so it was bearable. The food and the atmosphere were exactly what one has in mind when looking for typical French dining, this was a perfect way to kick-off our vacation. I went out on a sunny morning in Montparnasse in search of a quiet, inviting place to eat breakfast. I happened across Café Daguerre and couldn't have been happier. I made my way inside for a look around and then stepped back through a side doorway into a closed off outdoor section in search of a table that wasn't in the direct sun. I found one in a non-smoking section which was a pleasant surprise. The wooden tables were clean and clear of place settings. I was cheerfully greeted by a waiter asking if I was interested in breakfast and although he didn't offer me a menu, took me through what was available - breakfast Anglaise was the ticket for me - ham omelette, orange juice, croissant, coffee and bread for the (Paris) reasonable price of €10. My meal arrived in no time flat and it was delicious. The croissant was warm & moist, the eggs done perfectly (which to me means fluffy and moist, not dry and hard). This was exactly what I was looking for. If you're interested in catching up with world events on your iPad over coffee, free wifi is available. As we all know, there is no shortage of cafés in Paris. Of those I've tried, Café Daguerre stands out for it's cleanliness, surprisingly cheerful staff and better than average food. Excellent food and service! We were greeted and seated as soon as we get in. We ordered breakfast this morning and it was reasonably priced. Our meal came in with omelet (ham or cheese) crossiant, jelly with baguette basket, fresh squeeze orange juice with pulp, coffee with milk froth topped and water for 10 euro. Two Americans, a Brit, and a Canadian stayed in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris for 2 nights in May 2014. The flat we stayed in was right off of the Rue Daguerre, a fantastic street lined with specialty food shops near Denfert-Rochereau station. We noticed that Cafe Daguerre was busy day and night and had to try it before leaving. We went for breakfast two days in a row and were very happy with the food and service. One of our party (the Canadian) was fluent in French, which always makes interactions with waitstaff more pleasant in Paris. I had the American breakfast one morning (croissant, bread, butter, jam, an omelette, and coffee) one morning and a Francais the next (croissant, bread, butter, jam, and coffee). The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the price. Nine euros for bread and coffee is a bit steep, but the bread was incredibly fresh, brought in from a bakery nearby, and delicious. The coffee was strong and the juice freshly pressed. read more

I've had both the salmon and serrano salads - it's rare to get a good, hefty salad in Paris. Both of these were excellent and had great flavor. A bog-standard cafe that has a pretty delicious breakfast. I especially enjoyed the omlette, which was big enough for my wife and I to share and still delay lunch until about 2 pm (due, no doubt, to the copious amounts of butter in which the eggs were bathed). The service here was in the slow side with one waiter attending roughly fifteen tables or more, dropping plates and getting the order incorrect. Wow. Beef Bourgogne was rich and full of tender meat and flavor. The quiche was soft with mushrooms, smoked bacon and cheese with a perfect crust. If you are looking for a light meal I can recommend the salad, you can't go wrong here. It's a generous size. We ordered the chicken salad, it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was succulent, and subtly marinated served on a bed of Boston Style lettuce. The house dressing set if off quite tastefully. In the typical French manner, it was served with crispy bacon slices, diced home fry potatoes, and blue cheese. Yes, I know it sounds caloric and self defeating but this is France. Enjoy! Perhaps it's not fair to rate a restaurant based on only one small meal. I stopped at the Café Daguerre yesterday morning because I needed to kill some time. They had three breakfast specials and I opted for the €10 breakfast that included an omelette. They gave me a croissant, bread, coffee and orange juice along with the omelette. Although the croissant was good I'm afraid to say the ham and cheese omelette was terrible. It was extremely greasy and tasted like skillet grease rather then anything approaching butter or even any other oil that might taste good. The service was good and everyone was pleasant. We went as 2 adults, 2 young kids for a late lunch Sunday afternoon. The food was nothing special for the most part, but very tasty. The adults each had a meal, and the kids split one between them. The duck cuisse special with roasted potatoes was the CLEAR winner (we all wanted that one after it arrived). The carpacchio with salad and fries was also very good. The salmon salad was good, but suffered in comparison with the others. The service was friendly, and we had many refills on bread (the kids can eat a lot of baguette)! !!! A theif working amongst you!!! Myself, my sister and children visited café Daguerre in October for crepes. On paying the bill both myself and my sister took 50 euro notes out of our wallets to pay the bill. My sister handed the waiter 50 euro and paid the bill. The waiter handed my sister back her change. Transaction complete! Your waiter then decided to take the other 50 euro from the table very quickly. I challenged the waiter to return my 50 euro he very blatantly STOLE from me. This man had perfect English while serving us. Now, he spoke only French so as to not have to explain himself. He opened his wallet and returned my 50 euro. I would like to make it very clear that this was not a misunderstanding. He is a THEIF. You have been private messaged about this incident and you choose not to respond. So I now choose to make sure your future customers across ALL social media platforms know you have a THEIF working for you. I highly recommend people avoiding this café.
