WOW. I woke up this morning to no power in my temporary apartment here in Houston, and I couldn't be happier about it. Why? Because I found this delightful spot for breakfast and caffeine. I'm a frequent traveler, and have already hit some incredible food spots here in Houston. This is now at the top of my breakfast and coffee/tea stops. Drink: I had a divine dirty chai latte with pistachio nut milk (a new milk for me) which really added a fresh twist on a classic morning beverage favorite. La Vita's owner, a very sweet and passionate man who clearly loves what he's doing here, shared that they fly in their chai in powder form from Italy. No nasty syrups or pre-mixed chai here and I can absolutely tell the difference! Food: I had THE BEST everything bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese since my last trip to Manhattan. I won't spill the beans on how they achieve this, but they have legit true NYC bagels here. DO NOT PASS ON THIS sandwich! You'll be very sorry you did. Definitely an interesting little place to explore when you're out and about looking for something different. Parking is tricky. Make sure you don't park in Schlotzsky's - signs are posted. There is a hightop chess / checkers table, and Saturday morning even included a few people involved in dance lessons. Had an iced chai latte - exactly as the barista suggested - and it was delicious. They have a large coffee menu for the coffee lovers. Multiple flavors of NY style bagels are available, with a wide selection of spreads. They arrive daily from NY partially cooked - finished on site - and available until 12pm. Ordered up the Southern Burger - leaving off the serrano peppers - SO DELICIOUS! The fried green tomato was a perfect topper. I cut it in 1/4ths - still too much! Made the burger a meal - with onion rings. The perfect size ring! We recently visited La Vita Coffee and Burger Vibe on Washington Avenue and honestly loved it so much. It's such a unique concept with New York style burgers and bagels, Italian coffee, smoothies, and gelato all in one place. I had the strawberry gelato and it literally tasted like a strawberry milkshake. It was so creamy and flavorful. My husband got the cheesy bacon fries and they were really good too. We were too full to try the burgers this time but the prices looked super affordable. We also grabbed half a dozen bagels to enjoy this week and they look amazing. You can truly feel that this is a family owned business. The space is big and welcoming and the owners are so kind. It just feels personal and genuine in a way that's hard to find. The only challenge is the location since Washington is busy and parking takes some intention, but it is absolutely worth the stop. We're already planning to go back and try more. Very chill 2nd time here matcha is not what I thought avoid the prickly pear matcha that thing was nasty way to sweet it's mixed with juice if you like sweet stuff try it . I think it's cool concept but way too many different flavors of matcha styles made nothing like lalaland. La Vita Coffee is a unique establishment located along Washington Avenue before you get to Yale if traveling West. I told the owner the alley behind the business is actually labeled as Waughford on Google maps even though the street sign is only located across the street. I have seen signage for the two businesses located in this building for months, but only just recently stopped by early one day. Burger Vibe is the other business which operates out of the same building and counter. At first, I thought maybe this is a case of two juxtaposed businesses, but it is actually a 2-in-1 situation, if that makes sense. Decor-wise, I couldn't really get into it, but I think the place has a good, peaceful vibe to it. I ordered a Caramel Macchiato (I love caramel) and really enjoyed it, so delicious. However, reading my receipt later, I was not a fan of the upcharges. An iced coffee with a base cost of $5.85 had a $1 upcharge for oat milk and $1 upcharge for espresso modification for a total of $7.85. They need to rethink this. Mariel T.'s and Christina H.'s reviews also address the pricing on coffee. The cranberry orange muffin I ordered was kind of on the tough side but still tasted good. At one point, I sat outside and enjoyed being out there just watching the traffic go by. I would like to come back one day and order a chai latte and a burger. The service was very friendly, and took their time to answer any questions and were open to adjust our orders as we liked. We ordered an iced chai latte which was easily one of the tastier and better ones I have had in the Houston area, it does come on the sweeter side but you have the option to ask for it less sweet which is nice. We also got a Brown sugar pumpkin Shakerado, which was also very tasty! We definitely want to try out their food items, as they also service burgers and other pastries! I want to applaud this owner--our interaction with him was so pleasant. He provided several options for us, happily answered our questions, and even offered suggestions that we ended up liking without being too forward. I also noticed he was very clean and diligent in making sure the blender was throughly washed between making drinks, as my friend has a milk allergy. That attention to detail (you can tell he was knowledgeable about what he serves and happy to serve) and care to his customers is worth acknowledging. the exterior is unassuming, but upon walking in, you instantly feel it's a spacious and cozy coffee shop (and burger and bagel spot?!). There were several people studying here. What's surprising is the variety of drinks and food! (I've never heard of a prickly pear or lemon grass matcha!). Vegan and gluten free friendly options. The owner detailed he provides different matchas, including traditional unsweetened and a creamy, sweet matcha from Italy as well. With his recommendation, I got a hot matcha latte w/ espresso shot and it was a good evening pick me up before heading out to dance with friends. The pastries appear homemade. This is such a great coffee shop and cafe! The owner is super personable, friendly and the drinks are PERFECT. I tried my favorite drinks, iced latte with almond milk and dirty chai latte with pistachio milk and it they were truly the best I've ever had. Especially the chai latte. Getting there was a little challenging due to the roads but no big deal on a Saturday morning. We were fortunate to have met the owners and they were so personable. The shop is cozy with both indoor and outdoor space, I can see grabbing a coffee and people watch there. We got a hot chocolate, an ice mocha and another drink. It's on par with other coffee places but I decided to checkout their burgers at a later time as I discovered it is close to my office. I'm picky with burgers and this one really surprised me. The flavor was exactly what I've been looking for. The beef tasted fresh and real, not bland or frozen. Definition of a hidden GEM! Unless you're looking for it, the place is easy to look over as it's on a busy intersection and you're usually on that intersection when you have somewhere to be. But let me tell you the day i decided to come was a great one! And now I've been back many times with multiple friends and we all agree the place is delicious! The place has a nice outdoor patio with beautiful sunset views of the cityscape around you! The interior is very vibey with old touches and an antique flow. There are fun little board games and it makes for a relaxing hangout spot to talk and enjoy food! As for the food it is great!! The Texan burger is delicious and the cook cooks it with love! Everything here is made from scratch like their in house seasoning and in house sauces. They even grind the meat fresh in house! The onion rings are some of the best I've had in a long time. Came here for coffee - didn't realize it was shared with an Italian burger joint. Very unassuming but such a great discovery. Service was great. We were the only ones there. I had a regular coffee and my partner had a cappuccino. Both were super fresh tasting. It's hard to find a barista that knows how to make a cappuccino the right way so glad to find one here.
