Bought a power recliner two years ago from Lazy Boy company store in Houston, TX. I bought the warranty plan. Six weeks ago the chair quit working. I called the service department and they sent a technician out in about two weeks. He said it needed a new motor and would order it. We'll it's been four weeks & no motor. I have called the the service department at least 10 times & left messages but no response. My wife needs this chair to get up because she is going through cancer treatment. Don't buy from Lazy Boy. Before purchasing a service "protection" contract, it is advisable to have an attorney review it thoroughly. Last year, my husband and I purchased a high-end La-Z-Boy leather sofa. Unfortunately, we were convinced to also purchase the protection plan and a leather cleaning kit. I filed a claim with ServeCo, the insurance company for the contract, due to a stain on the headrest caused by my husband's bald head. To my surprise, the response to my claim was unsatisfactory. The "WHAT IS NOT COVERED" section of the policy stated that the protection plan provides no service or benefit for the following: * General: * Any stain or damage not specifically listed under the "WHAT IS COVERED" section * Fading, color loss, or color change This revelation left me deeply disappointed and has led me to avoid La-Z-Boy stores altogether. The purchase process was arduous and time-consuming due to the lack of expertise exhibited by the salesperson. The fabric is showing significant wear and tearing, piping has moved, and the overall structure does not reflect anything close to luxury craftsmanship. What's even more frustrating is the response from the customer care department. We reached out promptly with photos and documentation, but the support we received was unhelpful and dismissive. There was no meaningful effort to resolve the issue, repair the product, or stand behind the price and brand. At this price point, basic durability and responsive customer service should be a given. The LaZBoy Astor lift recliner is poor quality. It is not a quiet chair (ticks, grinds) or a smooth recline. The massager is excessively loud. It needs more padding in the seat and back areas. This chair had to be ordered as they had nothing available in the showroom that I needed. I trusted La-Z-Boy's good name for quality furniture and they failed. This review is about Corporate La-Z-Boy and not a specific store. I ordered a recliner on May 3, 2021. It took until February,2022, to receive it. I understood the supply chain issues and shipping issues going on in the world, so I didn't complain. When I did call the Customer Service department, they always gave me a date just to shut me up, even though they had no real idea when the chair would be delivered. Saying "I don't know" would have been more honest. But I was excited on the day of delivery. On that day, two young and seemingly inexperienced young men delivered my chair and, as they set it up, I noticed a large gash in the front left leg. I couldn't believe it. After all this time waiting, my chair was delivered damaged. They took pictures, as did I, and sent them somewhere to La-Z-Boy and said I needed to call Customer Service and schedule a repair. So, I called Customer Service right away (had to wait over an hour for a Rep) only to be told the soonest someone could come to my house about the repair was in April. I truly couldn't believe it. The day before the repair person was to arrive in April, I got a message from La-Z-Boy that he wasn't feeling well and wouldn't be able to come. I was instructed to call back to Customer Service and schedule another appointment. Two things here, (1) they should have called me and rescheduled rather than me spending another hour waiting to talk to a Rep; and (2) there's only one repair guy for my whole area? Really? Aren't they a large corporation. So, I call back right away and am told (after my hour plus wait on the phone) that the repair person won't be able to come until July 2! Are you kidding?? That was the Saturday of the Fourth of July weekend, so I had to rearrange my plans for the Fourth because I really wanted my chair fixed. On July 2 the repair person shows up only to tell me he can't fix my chair at this point. He will have to order a part. He told me he had never seen the pictures of the damage or would have known to order the part ahead of time. On August 16, 2022, I called Customer Service again and waited 1 hour and 30 minutes before talking to a Rep (I am beginning to think these wait times are to drive customers away). The Rep said the part was on back order (more blaming of supply chain issues - do they only have one of these chairs in the USA?). She told me she would check on the part and call me back. She never called. On September 14, 2022, I called back and waited 1 hour and 18 minutes and talked to Kevin. He told me the part was ordered but had no estimated time of delivery. He said he would contact the factory and call me back. He also offered me a discount on my purchase price but was not specific. I never heard back from him either. So, on September 28, 2022, I wrote a letter to Melinda Whittington, President and CEO of La-Z-Boy, to describe my situation and displeasure. On October 20, I got an email from Executive Escalations at La-Z-Boy saying the part was to be delivered on October 22 and I was scheduled to have the part installed on November 4. This was the first I heard that I had a scheduled appointment. Lucky for me, I was available. They give no consideration for the customer's schedule. I really just wanted to return the chair at this point. It is very nice looking but not that comfortable. They would not take it back but offered me a 10 percent discount on October 25. It took almost another month and two more one hour and 20 minute waits on hold before I got my refund. I swear their customer service people are trained to tell you they will call you back just to get you off the phone. I understand there were supply chain issues in the beginning; but the rest of the experience is just really bad customer service. BEWARE, we bought a sectional couch from La-Z-Boy in July 2020 and they made the two frames different sizes, they don't match (one is 1 inch shorter than the other) and it has been over 7 months with no resolution. Their customer service makes you wait on hold with horrible elevator music playing for 45+ minutes each time (rather than having a call back feature) and they send repair technicians during a pandemic to take photos (they have been inside our house 5+ times and fixed nothing). Service is horrible. They don't answer the phone and don't return multiple phone messages. Had to call Michigan or go into the store to talk to anyone. They're all over you when they think you're going to buy but once they have the sale...good luck. Told our order would be 6-8 weeks it took 11 weeks and we had to call them to find out where it was. Then there was a problem with the seat sagging on the loveseat. It took 2 weeks to have someone come look at it and another 3 weeks to get the new seat with no guarantee the fabric would match. Thankfully it did. When the installer came he said the 1st one was pretty bad. I feel like the 2nd one may not hold up long either. I expected more for the price we paid! read more

This review is not about a particular store but about customer service policy and warranty issues. We bought the Addison 3 seat reclining sofa in 2016. PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR A AMERICAN MADE PRODUCT. We could have bought this stuff at any of a number of furniture stores. 13 or 14 months later the recliner release tab on the right side recliner broke off in my wife's hand. Called service number and was told it would cost us over $100 for a service call because it was out of warranty. By 1 or 2 months. Small print in the contract is what f***ed us. The technician who came to repair the problem gave us a couple of hints to keep it from happening again even though we told him that the right side of the sofa had always been harder to open then the left side. His hints were useless. We were not very happy with that but needed to have the issue fixed. Well here it is two years later and the same thing has happened AGAIN. I fixed this one by myself. I have attached a picture. This is unacceptable. I was pretty sure I would not by another La Z Boy product after the first issue but now I am certain. After 3 service calls issued was not resolved. I was given the option of having my account credited or selecting another recliner. I ordered a replacement recliner which was delivered 7/27/22. There was an excess of material on the arms and seat. called customer service. Over a period of 2 days I held for over 4 hours--2 being for 1 hour each. Finally sent an email with pictures with no response. Called local store and was told there was nothing they could do. My wife took me to your store on E. 82nd St. where i got into a chair which seemed to be alright. I put down $769.83 for a good faith order. The next day my wife paid another 129.09 for what the store called an adjustment. Three months later I was alerted that my chair had been delayed...three months later I received another delay notice...three months after that I received another delay notification. In that time, over a year had passed and I had rehabilitated to a much better condition. Recently, lzboy notified me the chair was ready, but I had to pay the balance before they delivered. I explained my condition and promised to pay the balance if the chair met previous conditions/needs upon delivery. They refused and now, I'd like to cancel the order, giving the down payment to St. Jude's Hospital for Children, Shriner's Hospital for children and the St. Joseph Indian reservation (Lakota Tribe, a few of my favorite charities. I believe I acted in good faith and regardless of the cause for the delays in delivery I deserve a refund., payable in equal amounts to the above charities. Meanwhile, I have made adjustments to our household chairs to provide the comfort I need to continue rehabilitation. Thanks you for any help you might be able to suggest. While delivering our couches, they hit my front door, denting the the door and breaking the door frame on the hinge side. Additionally, the one of the couch's fabric was ripped in multiple locations. La Z Boy's contract delivery company, Final Touch Delivery, refused my claim. Three door contractors stated the door must be replaced due to the break in the frame on the hinge side. La Z Boy refuses to replace the door and is only willing to pay for a repair. I bought a chair in September 2022 and took delivery in January 2023. There were gaps between the side and top cushion and the mechanism didn't allow the front of the chair to close flush. I had to wait until April for a tech to come look at the chair. He replaced the mechanism and it still didn't fix the issues so, he said he would order another mechanism and a new chair back. Months later another tech showed up with a new chair back but, no mechanism . Apparently, it was never ordered. Long story short, it is now late November 2023 and Ron in customer service still does not have an answer for me as to whether " the committee " will either fix the chair or order a new one. I have to keep calling him only to be told that they still haven't made a decision. Lazy Boy is eager to sell you furniture however, blow you down the road when you have an issue. Very disappointing! I purchased a custom sectional sofa. First the legs on the mid section didn't fit. So they took their sweet time getting the legs exchanged. When I saw them remove the legs to exchange, there was a large hole. They did not want to repair the damage. Made all kinds of excuses and sent a Guardian scammer out to my home and they did nothing. They hardly answer the phone and when I got someone on the phone it was a wrong number. It was the number that the service technician asked me to call. I talked to an attorney and they still gave me the runaround. So sad. I paid $200 for service and they won't even repair the hole that was their doing. They would not have told me about the hole had they not have to replace the legs. I would not recommend them to anyone at any time ever again. They are not the company they used to be! Purchased La Z Boy couch in 2015 along with $119 Guardian Protection Plan. After 2 years, "performance" fabric on couch cushions has worn so thin from sitting on it there are holes starting to develop. Contacted Guardian twice, apparently customer service is not a priority. Was told this was normal wear and tear and they would not cover it. Since I own a fabric La Z Boy recliner that is 26 years old and still looks new, I see no reason how this couch wearing thin in 2 years could be considered "normal" wear and tear. Contacted La Z Boy, again, twice, starting to see a trend in (lack of) customer service here. I was told the warranty on the fabric for my couch is 1 year. Their solution is to let me order new cushion covers for $150 each, discounted from $250 each. We're talking covers here, not entire cushions. Two covers at $500 is 2/3 the price of the ENTIRE couch. With the discount being $300, that's still 40% the price of the couch. In no way does that math work in relation to the amount of: fabric on the remaining couch cost of filling, springs, and frame of the couch the cost of labor to replace these covers vs. the amount of labor required to actually MAKE THE COUCH. Where I feel I already paid for this repair with the $119 "protection plan" that turned out to be no more useful than a hamster cage liner, I am now being told I need to pay an ADDITIONAL 40% the cost of my ENTIRE couch to replace 2 cushion covers. If they stand behind the durability of their so-called performance fabric, why isn't the warranty better than any other fabric? This is very telling that La Z Boy is misleading their customers when they won't even stand behind their own product. They are additionally misleading their customers into buying a protection plan that is of little or no value. If this is in fact, 'normal' wear and tear, then their advertising and warranty are false and misleading. If this is not 'normal' wear and tear, then the protection plan they coerce you into buying is a total sham, and at best is shady regardless. Customers are being duped into buying an inferior product under false pretenses. This year alone on a consumer watchdog sight I noted approximately 57 consumer complaints regarding similar problems. This does not include the multitude of unrelated complaints. I had full confidence buying this couch based on the quality of the chair that was purchased 26 years ago that is far superior to what this couch ever thought of being. This couch is in no way even close to the same quality. If I could have given it a 0 star I would have. I ordered a new reclining loveseat from the store in Clay, NY. Waited 3 - 4 months for it to come in. Have had it less than two weeks, the right side of the loveseat has been used maybe 3 times. It is broken now and the electronics for that side done work. It broke in the upright position. So now I have a recliner stuck in the upright position which is a major safety concern as I am packing things up and trying to sort through things preparing for a move, while trying to avoid running into the broken recliner part. The best they can do is service it in 3 weeks. There is nothing sooner, so they say. Meanwhile I have to live with a major safety hazard until then. And because I'm past the 3 DAY return window they won't issue a refund, they have the right to try to fix it. So I have to deal with a MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD until they can try to get it fixed in 3 weeks time. read more

After a very long wait they take our info and they will have someone contact us - no one responds. Their guarantee is useless!! We have been told they will only cover the part and that coming out to where we live will be costly for their time (a wood block broke off while someone was sleeping - the wood block won't be expensive but the service charge will be). I purchased two recliners in February, 2021. They make a horrible clunking sound when you bring it back to the sitting position. I was told this is the are because all the parts are metal. The sound is disturbing. I have tried the tips I've read about to minimize the loud bang to no avail. Had the customer service tech come and he told me they are working as designed. I sat in the couch in the store and did not hear that loud bang when I brought it back to an upright position. What am I supposed to do now? This review is not about my local Lazy Boy store but rather about Lazy Boy Corporate Headquarters. Last year Lazy Boy made the decision to change their policy regarding parts that have a lifetime warranty. In the past, as with at least three other companies I've done business with, when a part broke and needed to be replaced they sent it without a charge. Under their new policy these warranted parts are sent with a charge for 'handling and shipping'. While they may think this was a good policy change it equates to terrible customer service. A better option would be to add 15 or 20 dollars to the price of a sofa to cover these costs. No one would care or know the difference and this poor customer service would not be an issue. I'm considering replacing my sofa this year. If this 'lifetime warranty' policy is still in effect at that time I will take my business elsewhere. After reading the other poor reviews concerning horrible customer service after the sale I have decided I will not do business with Lazy Boy again. read more

My $3000 sofa/loveseat is six years old and totally falling apart. The fabric is all frayed and the seams are opening. These are recliners and the foot rests are broken and falling apart. I bought a La-Z-Boy sectional for $7,000.00 and from day one it was damaged. The sofa has been "inspected" by La-Z-Boy many times. Each and every time the initial damage gets worse and worse. The furniture came damaged probably from the delivery people. Doing such caused a very noticible dent in one of the pieces. I swear if I had not brought up the dent/stretched leather the delivery people would not have said a thing. But, I am sure they knew all along about the dent/stretch...I could see it on their faces and in their eyes. Additionally, the furniture has to have flaws in the design or the manufacturing isn't up to snuff. Literally, there are pieces of leather that are too small on pieces of the furniture. I grew up with parents, grandparents and great-grandparents who had bought and bought La-Z-Boy chairs and I never saw or heard a thing bad about those pieces of furniture. That is why I bought mine. $7,000.00 I paid for a black leather sectional with a wedge and two electric recling ends and it is all junk. For $7,000.00 I could have bought very nice furniture at Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Natuzzi, Haverty's or Baers which are all only minutes from my house. And now almost two years later La-Z-Boy still has not fixed or replaced the sectional. They argue and argue that everything can be fixed. I say each time that would be nice but it hasn't been fixed yet! The La-Z-Boy I thought I knew from my family would have just replaced the pieces and had fessed up to the "issues." I have gone through WAY TO MUCH for a La-Z-Boy sofa. I would recommend anyone looking at La-Z-Boy to look any place else but La-Z-Boy! They are nothing like they used to be and it seems they don't care either. I hope this helps anyone thinking about or looking at La-Z-Boy furniture. I wish I had read the on-line reviews.
