One of our favorite places while visiting tulum. We stayed down the street, drinks were fast and delicious and food was amazing!

This place was way over priced, the food was horrible, and the drink didn't have a drop of alcohol in it. My stomach started hurting half way through my meal and I couldn't even finish it, woke up the next day with major stomach cramps. My boyfriends tuna looked like a small piece of bait, not enough to feed a child. Don't waste your money and save yourself from misery the next day. read more

My husband and I just spent a week in tulum. It has been an incredible trip mainly because of how incredible the staff at La Zebra has been. We did not have a room at La Zebra but went every day of our trip. Juan Chinal and Beto waited on us most of the week on the beach, and did such an incredible job! Great dinner during salsa night. Stunning live band, live salsa, such a wonderful atmosphere and vibe. I think salsa night is typically Sunday. It's hard to get reservations -- I'm not sure they take many. We walked there around 8:30pm and had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. The bar and intoxicating music with fresh breeze were enough to keep us interested while we waited. Once we sat down, the free chips and salsa kept me happy. For our meals we both chose different preparations of fish: Pescado al Coco y Cilantro (white fish with coconut and cilantro) and Filete de Pescado en Salsa de Cacahuate y Almendra (white fish with a peanut/almond-based sauce, potatoes and tomato). Both were AWESOME. In my opinion, the coconut and cilantro fish was slightly superior, but that's because it's more aligned with my favorite flavor profiles. Hearing the live band, experiencing the fresh breeze -- a real success at La Zebra. Highly recommend the fish dishes and going on salsa night. read more

Ended up coming here twice on my trip. I couldn't stop thinking about the ceviche micro after the first day having it so I had to stop in on my last day and get it again. Very delicious and very affordable. The staff was wonderful as well. Erick helped me on my second visit and was outstanding! Made sure my afternoon spent there was amazing! read more

the best spot to grab lunch. great view of the ocean, you can even eat on the beach. it made me want to stay at this hotel. the BEST and most interesting cocktails. my fav was the flora de sandia (tequila blanco, ancho reyes, fresh watermelon, elderflower, chili, lime and dusted with cracked black pepper) i think i drank about 5. one of the few spots to take credit cards in tulum. try their ceviche, empanadas, fish tacos, everything..they had salsa dancing one night, so great. read more

La Zebra has it's ambience on point. The beach side seating area is lovely and during the evening the lighting is nearly perfect. Their drinks are delicious! The food could use a little something called flavor. Although the presentation is lovely. The food doesn't follow through. I dined there this past weekend and tried a little bit of everything. The creme de elote is essentially a bowl of cream soup with some partially cooked corn. I LOVE elote in all forms, however this was just a bowl of bland cream. The chile rellenos again was rather tasteless with the cheese inside could have been much more melty and flavorful. The guacamole is acceptable however it's served with home made potato chips. While I love potato chips, its an odd choice to serve with a very chunky guac that you can not properly use to dip. I need my guac chip to be an edible spoon essentially and the chips did not cut it. over all the meal was underwhelming and while, affordable, still pricey for what we received. The other issue we have with this location is that while dining the floor manager that was on that night came to our table to inquire about the meal. (this was only during drinks- so there was nothing at that time to report about) and she spent 5 minutes telling us we should come back the next day, that they are also a "beach club" (meaning we could rent a lounge chair and enjoy drinks on their beach) She said that they had salsa in the evening and that we would enjoy it. We CONFIRMED she said it was a beach club and we could come pay a fee and use their chairs. As their drinks were delicious and we were looking to hit up a different spot we decided to come the next day. However when we arrived we were told that information was wrong and we could not use any of their chairs or beach. We were pretty perturbed and left walked a short distance down the beach to the BEST taco's we've had in Tulum and enjoyed the rest of our afternoon. read more

I feel bad for these guys. Recently suffered a horrible fire that wiped out nearly the entire kitchen and dining area. We came to eat a few years ago and it was so lively with people dancing, live music and the drinks flowing. Now, so much has changed. It's nearly empty and the dining room is in a newly built space that just doesn't have the same energy. The prices also seem like they have gone way up, maybe to cover some of the damages? I hope it can get back to what it once was!!! Good luck. read more

This place was very beautiful and well-maintained. The shaded beds on the beach are reserved for guests. Since this is a hotel, guests have priority even if you go in and buy a certain amount of food/drinks. The manager was very nice and accommodating and allowed me to use one of the shaded beds on the condition I'd have to move if a hotel guest came in and there was no room, which I found fair. Luckily no one else came in and I was able to use the shaded bed for the rest of the afternoon! I ordered the rib eye tacos, which were very good since the flavors were well balanced and came with a smoky salsa w subtle heat- it was the perfect touch! Good food, amazing beach setting! What more can I say? The Tulum beach is stunning. It is a postcard paradise beach. This restaurant is right on the beach, in a large palapa type place. Great ambiance. The service is excellent, very attentive and friendly. The food is good. Smaller portions, at Tulum beach prices. The cochinita pibil tacos were really good! Tender and tasty. We ate breakfast and dinner at La Zebra for 3 or 4 days. The food is just so fresh and delicious we didn't see any reason to leave the hotel and venture elsewhere. This hotel is paradise and the food is perfection! read more

This place is underrated. Come at night and sit on one of the many romantic outdoor ground seating areas. The salsas are ridiculously good. The food was shocking to say the least, each dish was more delicious than the last. We had the octopus sous vide tacos and a few other things. Went back every day we were here. This is a nice spot, but definitely on the younger and more lively side of things. Some of the best - and strongest - drinks we had in Tulum. Salsa night was fun with lessons from 6-8 on their outdoor stage/dance floor and then a live band. Didn't eat, but it's a nice setup right on the beach. Went here for Sunday night Salsa. Class started promptly at 6:30pm and was a lot of fun --all ages and mostly beginner skill level.

Loved La Zebra for many reasons. 1. Food is amazing. 2. Margaritas with jalepeno awesome. Mojoito slush a must. 3 location is right on water and very well decorated. 4. Went on salsa night and even if you don't salsa go for the live band. They had a 9 person with a brass section! 5. Gustavo, the manager, provided us with a well informed tequila tasting when all I asked for was a tequila flight. Set up a table next to ours and spent 20 minutes with us explaining all the differences between different tequilas (of which I knew nothing). When it came time for the bill we braved for a hefty charge to have his expertise and were charged nothing! Totally blown away with the generosity of La Zebra and the region. read more

Tacos at the beach bar are possibly the best I've ever eaten! As an American Mexican I'm always looking for a good taco so this says a lot! The bar is fun and lively with great bar ladies who make custom drinks as well as standard margs etc. A great meal before Sunday eve salsa lessons at 6:30! Love Zebra. Even though we didn't stayed at this beautiful resort. We used their beach club facilities, which you can use if you order drinks and food from them. That's was not really a problem for us. As the main reason I love La Zebra is their restaurant! The food options are mainly Mexican, which I love. It's hard finding good Mexican food in Vancouver. Therefore I go all out when I'm in Mexico. Their classic ceviche is amazing. Filled with lots of fish and octopus. So extremely fresh. Second favourite, fish al pastor fish tacos. They were the best fish tacos I ever had! They serve these really amazing salsas with all of your dishes. The service is great. They recognized us and were always smiling and so accommodating. Seriously recommend this place while visiting Tulum! read more

This place is delicious! We went on a Sunday night and they had a live band and the locals came out to dance. The customer service was incredible. The hostess was one of the nicest people and even though we didn't have reservations she was able to squeeze us in. The food was so good! Get the steak tacos and guacamole!! read more

We have been to La Zebra 3 times in the past three weeks...There aren't enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe the food...I've had breakfast and lunch there. Today I ordered the Azteca omelet with added poblano peppers...Their eggs are free range, the baked goods are homemade and the salsas are divine...My husband and I particularly like their take on the Morita Chile salsa. Everything is exquisite. A true taste sensation with every dish we ordered. In addition, the cocktails are fantastic and for coffee drinkers the coffee con leche is delicious and presented beautifully. My husband, a non-drinker, loves the 'waters' that they prepare by the glass or liter...His fave is the Clean Green and The Mayan Mix. The beach in front of La Zebra is excellent as well...Nice to take a swim, dry off and have cocktails and a meal...Seriously can't go wrong at this place. read more

The view and atmosphere are fantastic, the food is OK but their eco-friendliness must improve. My wife and I have eaten there many times during our 2014 and 2015 trips. However, in September, sea turtle hatching season was on in full, hundreds of turtles pushed out of their nests within a few hundred meters of La Zebra, the vast majority correctly headed out to the ocean, but close to a dozen thought they should head to La Zebra as they burned their lights much too brightly - the other owners know it - the local eco team that roved up and down the beach from dusk to dawn and protects the turtles know it - and La Zebra knows it as well. Sea turtles are endangered, lowering the restaurants output wattage as well as reducing the height of the lights, plus having staff available to collect the infants from among the La Zebra decks and beach furniture would at least demonstrate that La Zebra is committed to supporting these turtles on their beaches. read more

He even found us on the beach to let us know our room was ready, and next day to tell us about ATV we inquired. Loved our stay, we will be back! read more

Wish I found this place sooner! We discovered this place on our last night in Tulum and what a night it was! The drinks, the music, the dancing, the ocean, the food... I could go on and on. Most of the restaurants on this street are pricey- but if you want to have good food- like really good food, none of that weird, vegan, vegetarian, dusted in too much turmeric stuff, you need to come here. We went on a Sunday night when they had a 10 person band playing live salsa music. The entire place was bouncing with energy and people- amazing dancers and amateurs alike. Our food was delicious. I ordered the salmon and my boyfriend ordered the steak. We finally felt like we were paying for a decadent meal worthy of the high price tags that Tulum offers. I had a mango daiquiri (virigin) which was refreshing and plentiful in size. We had tres leches for dessert (my favorite) and it did not disappoint. If I come back to Tulum, I'll definitely want to stay at La Zebra, where the villas overlook a glorious beach and couches and beds line the shore. It is really a magical little slice of heaven. read more

This place is heavenly! We ate outside on our first night in Tulum, gorgeous view and ocean breezes. The food was superb, especially the Habanero salsa and another one with peanut and olive oil. Seriously, the salsas are exquisite.The ceviche was spectacular, possibly the best I've ever had. I had a variation on shrimp relleno and loved it so much the chef kindly gave us the recipe. Others at the table had a delicious chicken and lime soup, a solid cochinita pibil, a tender octopus a la plancha, and an excellent fish. Their wine selection is good, as are the cocktails. Loved La Zebra! We stayed a driving distance away from the beach in Tulum, and spent the day at La Zebra to enjoy beach access, food and drink. The customer service was outstanding. All of the servers were very friendly and checked on us frequently to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. In particular, Daniel went the extra mile for us- our friend sprained her ankle and he helped her prop it up and ice it and assisted her in walking. Very sweet and helpful throughout the whole day. Also, their set up is very comfortable with soft beach beds and plenty of shade. Great spot in Tulum! read more

La Zebra is OK. For the money being charged there are better places to eat and drink in an upscale setting and fine dining in Tulum (Kitchen Table,Hartwood to name a few). Sunday nights are the best with the salsa dance lesson at 6:00PM followed by a salsa band. Make reservations unless willing to eat at bar, most of the tables get reserved that night and don't turn because people stay for music and dance. The drinks at the outside bar are excellent but you'll pay USA prices (aka $10 per cocktail). Also I did not try the "Chef Table" offering and that looks very interesting, expensive but looks worth an exploration. Nice oceanfront space. So it really isn't bad - I just think for $ it's just OK. read more
