East Valley Baseball - Concessions: Beef Hot Dog $4.00, Root Beer Soda $1.50, Pure Leaf Tea $2.00 (10/12/24). @EastValleyYouthBaseball #SunValley #SFV

(Attended 10/12/24 SA @ 9:30am): It's time for youth baseball in the eastern part of the San…read moreFernando Valley! I tagged along with a dear friend so she was able to hang out with her bestie and her family as one of their sons was playing a game with the East Valley Youth Baseball league. It's been decades since I last watched a youth baseball game of any level, so I was kind of excited. As a kid, I played all three levels (e.g. T-Ball, Little League, Babe Ruth) at the time where I grew up. Unfortunately, neither of my nieces played softball nor did any of my close friends' kids, so the only baseball diamond I've been to with regularity was Dodger Stadium. Would I get all of the feels as I watched today's youth play baseball in the East San Fernando Valley!? PURCHASE Root Beer Soda Fountain Drink 16floz Cup ($1.50): I normally didn't drink soda, but whenever I did, it was usually root beer or something along the lines of the lemon-lime variety because neither of them have caffeine. I couldn't tell which brand of root beer this was, but it did the job as it helped to wash down the hot dog I bought. I would've preferred less ice, so that was my fault for not telling the person at the concession stand. Pure Tea Unsweetened 16floz Bottle ($2.00): I ended up saving this for later since my root beer was more than enough. I preferred this healthier tea and certainly didn't need any sweetness. All Beef Large Hot Dog ($4.00): When at any baseball game, you had to have a hot dog (I also wanted Cracker Jacks but they didn't sell it!). This long skinny beefy dog held me over until lunch. Although I usually liked my dogs covered in onions and relish, I went simply and just splattered ketchup and mustard. The bun was short (as usual) and fluffy. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=G63B9HKkFSX5zRgsVrHoDA SERVICE Other than the folks who worked the concession carts and stands, there wasn't any other source of service being offered - 'nuff said. PARKING (FREE) There was a wealth of parking albeit somewhat narrow lanes and in some cases dead-end pathways, so maneuvering was difficult at times as well as having to watch for kids running all over the place; it was like a minefield - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE This large complex had I think at least four baseball diamonds, several arteries of parking lots and paths, and several concession carts and stands https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=0QKu-I1Ii08-dM9Rm_Xtjw to get your grub on. Each field had its own set of covered wooden bleachers, empty park benches and tables for post-game treats, and I saw at least one drinking fountain. Plenty of natural lighting (duh... you were outside!) while big bright lights filled in the rest once the sun went down. There weren't any TVs or background music unless you counted the sounds of balls being hit and the chatter of kids encouraging their teammates. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=l0U4x0uJ2H_Y1ZnSzOHpUQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I was happy to have taken in an East Valley Youth Baseball game and rooted for my friend's friend's son as well as the rest of the kids out there playing even for an hour or so instead of being focused on a small screen while they sat on their asses! As much as I enjoyed myself, I couldn't say I would take in another game unless the identical scenario presented itself again. I didn't want to be a creeper or anything like that! It was nice to be outdoors, the game was entertaining, the concession prices were more than comparable, and it was just a relaxing morning. Every parent should sign their children up for sports and why not start with this league!? I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL would-be paid experience was around $7.50 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

From the president down to the coaches. We won a few games and lost a few games vs various teams from East Valley. Whenever we went their facility they were always warm, respectful and inviting. The coaches always played a fair game and never tried cheating. Which is huge imo. I have been coaching since my son was 5 and the amount of cheating by adults for a sports youth league is minding blowing. This is the reason I decided to take time and review a great organization like EV Baseball.
