The job was not done correctly. They had to come back a second time, appreciated the effort, but again they did not correct the problem. I had a Construction Engineer evaluate the problem and it was clear that LaBello's did not have the skill or sufficient knowledge to address the matter correctly. After discussing this with Chad LaBello he made excuse after excuse. He then refused to correct the matter after taking payment. He asked for cash, we paid him, he never returned to correct the problem. Low class, poor business acumen and arrogant. Should not have a license to work in the construction industry. read more

They performed work last year and wanted cash. They were paid for both jobs in cash as requested. When he was paid he said he didnt have invoices on him but that he'd get them to me. then tax time rolls around and I need the proof of payments. After many attempts to get invoices for the two jobs he ghosted me after he had apologized profusely and promised to provide them. It's a huge shame because I had used them before to fix brick work after a tree had hit a building. that time they asked for cash and I gave it but they gave me detailed invoices right away. I was pleased with the quality of work and had previously recommended them to other people. It is unfair to a paying customer not to provide the estimates and invoices for such large amounts. I needed this for my taxes. Hopefully I'll be able to amend this review at some point if they ever provide the invoices. read more

I would not recommend anyone use LaBellos. Should be negative stars given. During a job he was doing for us and 3 other neighbors he demanded we pay him $2000 more to complete the job even though we had in writing what he was suppose to do. We did not pay him and he abandoned the job. We had to have a truck load of stone delivered and move it into the swales ourselves and plant grass seed over the entire areas. He also charged us $2600 additional stating he could fix our Egress window water issue and made the entire situation worse. By far, the worst contractor ever used. read more

Chad called the same day I put a message out that I needed a contractor to fix a rotten spot in my basement under my front door. He came the next day, examined the problem and scheduled my repair within 2 days. He and his crew were very nice, worked very well together and asked my opinion on each step. The did a nice cleanup after completion. To add to this, I had originally bought a door overhang canopy to place there but was slow on the install. Chad put it up for me without a problem. What began as a good experience has turned into a frustrating one. After reading several good reviews on Angie's List, we felt safe in our decision to hire LaBellos to do a few projects around our house - including demolishing, repouring, and stamping a concrete walkway. Initially our experience was positive. They were timely and seemed to focus on details. When a mistake occurred on part of the project, they were apologetic and made the repair. However, seeming to be a company that put its best foot forward, LaBellos stumbled and won't get back up. After the walkway dried, we noticed that the rise and edge of the steps do not have the same stamped look as the rest of the walkway. Instead it is coarse, ragged, and looks unfinished. We called, texted, and emailed Chad to asked him to come back and fix the issue. Unfortunately, despite his assurance he would (and recently set a date and didn't show) months have gone by with no results. After spending a decent $ on a permanent feature, it is frustrating to face the imperfections on a daily basis. We can only hope LaBellos will live up to their reviews and come back and fix our steps. If possible, we will post a follow-up review. read more

DO NOT HIRE LABELLO MASONRY AND WATERPROOFING!! If I could give them zero stars I would. I have never given any business a negative review, but feel I must warn other homeowners. Chad Labello gave us an estimate on fixing a slate roof and signed, an overpriced contract, with my husband. Prior to signing the contract Chad mentioned that he was a Marine--one of the reason's my husband, a disabled Vietnam Veteran, hired him. After signing the contract we walked around the house and Chad said for an extra 180 dollars he would paint the rusty flashing on the roof, and would paint the peak of our house for free. I can't comment on his craftsmanship because the actual repairs were done by T&T Construction of Troy NY. I have to say they were wonderful. Robert and Dan from T&T were honest, hard working, very respectful young men. They had finished about 3/4 of the job when Chad called them and told them to collect the money and leave. Not only was he going to skip out on the verbal contract we made, but he wasn't even going to finish all that was listed on the written contract. There were a few conversations back and forth and he ended up telling the men to paint the flashing and peak for 750 dollars, not the original 180 he had promised. He didn't even have the decency or courage to tell us what he was going to do, he made the men from T&T tell us. My family is a military family, I have raised a son who was in the Marines and a son who was in the 82nd Airborne. Chad claims to be a Marine, but in no way exemplifies the true characteristics of a Marine. Honor, courage and commitment mean nothing to him. His word is not to be trusted and I'd be very leery of even his written contract. read more

We hired LaBello's to replace a sagging stone retaining wall, grade the sharp slope and bring in topsoil. They built the wall and it's nice except for the one oddly colored stone, but the grading is nonexistent, and the "topsoil" (clay and sand) will only foster weeds. A lot seeped out and eroded over the winter through the stones, and it's an ugly mess. We've left a number of messages, but I guess they don't want to come back after having to come back to haul all their trash out of the ravine next to our house. The town wasn't pleased. Neither are we, and now we have to hire someone else to fix this mess. read more

Hired Chad to fix a cement floor heave in my sons home. He came quickly and said he could fix it the next day. (Day before Xmas Eve) His worker came and fixed the heave. I asked if it was normal to look so messy after he was done since I've never had anything done like this and he said I was being "Rude" The floor was fixed and semi level when he left. He told me also that his guys could come the next morning at about 8-8:30 (Xmas Eve) to lay the new pergo floor. He said they were good. (Installers for Lumber Liquidators) the one guy showed up at 10:30 without the proper tools. Told me he would run home and get his saw and that he would be 10 mins. 2 hours later he came back with another guy who also didn't bring tools. I had to call my wife and have her bring my saws. We live 10 miles away. They finally got started around 2:00. Long story short, they finished at around 5:00 (Xmas Eve) and it was A MESS! Horrible job! Tried cutting straight lines with a circular saw. Left shims in perimeter, I can't even put moldings back because of the poorly cut and erratic ends. Left a mess in the garage and now I have to get a "Professional" in to fix the mess they made. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for! I thought I was doing a good thing for my son and Chad seemed to be a good guy who was trying to help. His "Flooring Guys" need another career! I hired Labello's Masonry to do a basement waterproofing job,(french drain). After the job was complete, I was hesitant about paying him, as the work did not look like it was thoroughly done. He promised, "This will keep the water out, If it leaks, call me immediately and I will come and fix it." Well, the first rainstorm, it leaked, which seems worst than prior to him doing the work. I immediately called him, and then sent him a sequence of texts with pictures. He then said that I needed to do more/different work (at considerable expense). He never even came back to look at the shotty work he did. To say the least, Labello's does not stand behind his subpar work. read more

Contacted Chad to give an estimate on basement waterproofing. He set time for first appointment, called to reschedule that day 30 minutes before we were to meet, and after I had already left work and had driven an hour to get there. After that we booked another for the following day, same time and he did not arrive, claiming we had not confirmed. Once again I had left work early to meet him. Set a 3rd appointment and he did not arrive, but sent a surrogate who was 30 minutes late, and seemed completely unprepared. Took no measurements, could not answer questions (including about the system itself, guarantees, maintenance of the system, etc.) and stated a timeframe for completion that was far shorter than every other service who gave me quotes and explained their systems and approach. I was told I would get a project scope and contract sent to me that afternoon and that never arrived. Chad sent me a text later in the day with his excuse for not being there himself, but for me, 3rd strike was enough. read more

I wish I had never hired them..No one ever complained on their social media pages...I see one other bad review but it's new.. .The steps and the upper landing were jackhammered, and rebuilt. Except the rise was too high, and the lower landing had to be built at an added expense. The workmanship is awful. Very sloppy work. They decided to spray paint the black railings but didn't bother to mask off the vinyl siding or painted areas. and the steps are so much higher they embedded the railing into the concrete. The concrete stain is horrible.. as you can see in the pictures, it looks like the stain dripped down the front of the steps. There is a low spot on the second step where the water collects and is icy all winter..I asked Chad Labello to come fix it, and he assured me in a text he would, but never came. I had to have my driveway sealed to hide the mess they made of my driveway. Too bad I can't post photos.. I cringe every time I pull in my driveway and see this mess. My $3,000 mess. The company has been contacted by me and my son & Daughter in law and they ignored the problem for almost a year.. read more

I hired Chad to rebuild a stone wall in my basement (old farm house) and to put in drainage for water run off. So after I called and told him I had a check to start the work his company didn't show up. then a few months later out of the blue he called. (he's was very pleasant on the phone ). so I said he could start the work. His crew did not show up when he said but a few days later and they went to work. Day two I even drove over twenty mile from Rensselaer to Lansinburg in North Troy and back to give him a bank check. they dug out the foundation and he said they would remove the stones clean them and rebuild the wall. They did not remove any stone they just washed them out then poured cement in around the stones and put a nice surface on the wall. They also had to remove sheet rock and insulation from my family room. In two days they finished but not with out a few issues( I thought). Labello's masonry's crew took a orange city construction barrel that was in front of our house where the city was repairing the storm sewer. After several calls it was returned, They broke a 8 inch diameter limb off the maple tree in front of the property and my aunt said she say them do it on purpose with the back hoe. ( she is a church going senior and would never lie.) They left the debris they were suppose to remove and so I piled it in to and next to my construction size wheel burrow. I also saw them through a 5 gallon hydraulic fluid container in the hole next to my foundation but it was well buried before I could say something. If you doubt my story come and dig, I'll let you! When I examined the lawn that was suppose to be graded and seeded it was a mess and you could not begin to run a lawn mower over it, so I called and complained several times. Finally Jason (a retired sheriff deputy he says ) came over and took pictures and agreed it was a mess. It took two months to get them back and in all fairness it has been a rainy damp summer so that was part of the delay but there was nice weather when they didn't show up . I asked Chad many many times to just keep in touch. His crew showed up unannounced one day months later when I was at work and redid the lawn to "oh well it's better then it was status". they took the sheet rock debris but left the insulation that was now in the back of my truck as I expected to have to dispose of it. they also took my wheel borrow and Chad finally admitted they had it and said he would return it but blamed my wife for them taking it,which was pure Bullcrap. I still do not have my wheel borrow back 3 months later. So I know that Labellos Masonary is as untrustworthy as you can get and I would not recommend them to anyone. I have photo's but can't post them on this site. The city codes inspector said had they gotten the building permit like he was suppose to they would never be allowed to work in the City again. I am also contacting the better business bureau. and will be filing a stolen property report with the Police Department. Labellos put in a concrete stamped patio for us last May, after 1 month there was major discoloration so they sealed before it was ready. Large puddle in front of the door after rain. We called to see if at a minimum they would strip and reseal to fix the color. Well 9 calls, 4 visits to their office and 6 emails....nothing. 5 appointments made with Jason who never showed and never called to cancel. They left a mess in our yard which they advised they would be back to fix and seed, never happened. They also did a fresh concrete coating on the front step which they advised they would come back to seal, never happened. They dug a massive hole in the wooded area behind my house to take dirt to build up the patio, never asked just did it. The next day asked them if they were filling it back in as kids go back there to play, they fixed it but not without a struggle to get done. We had to pay someone else to fix the water issue and now this spring will have to pay someone else to strip/antique and seal it to fix the color. What a horrible experience, it is very disheartening to have this happen and having to pay even more now to have someone else fix their mistakes. Please do not hire this company, save yourself time, money and frustration. read more

I called and asked if they would be interested in giving me a quote to pour a 22' x 20' concrete patio. I gave them the option to schedule the appointment at their convenience, since I live 3 miles from where I work. They made the appointment for 8AM on a Thursday, called me on Wednesday at 3PM and asked if they could reschedule it for 12 Noon (to 1PM) and then didn't show up or call to let me know why so I called them, simply because I wasted an hour of my time and wanted to know. Apparently they couldn't call me because they guy who works for the guy that owns the place lost his phone, which should have been enough to make me walk away. Instead, I fell for the "we're really, really sorry and we promise to be there if you'll give us another chance" excuse so, again, I gave THEM the option to schedule the appointment at THEIR convenience; they picked today at 12Noon. Again, I showed up and waited/wasted an hour. They didn't show and didn't call. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, double shame on you. read more
