My primary care doctor referred me here in early December. It took until the end of June (today) to be seen. In December, I was experiencing a severe cystic/hormonal acne flare up. I suffered for several months earlier this year, but now I'm mostly just dealing with face and body scars and isolated recurrences. I hadn't seen a dermatologist in 7-8ish years, so I was looking forward to an overall skin check up. I checked in today and was brought back pretty quickly. When I mentioned wanting to address a couple of mole changes in addition to the acne to the nurse, I was told that they were too busy to do both. She checked with the doctor and returned telling me I had to pick one topic or the other. Despite acne being a priority for me, I opted for the skin scan. Especially due to recent skin cancer diagnoses in my family. The doctor was pleasant during her short time with me and answered a few questions related to the skin check. I had to schedule another visit a month out for the acne. I'm glad it's not another six months, but I am pretty disappointed regardless. I know healthcare isn't what it used to be, but maybe they could consider designating more than ten minutes for new patient exams? I felt like I was a number in a chain of patients, instead of someone she cared to get to know, and having to return to address my original issue feels like an insurance money grab. Just a bummer, is all.

While she wasn't taking any new patients, they were able to fit me in with Dr. Melson. I was nervous because I was already coming from a not great dermatology situation and couldn't find any information about her. I'm here to tell you Dr. Melson is amazing. This dermatology office is located on the second floor of a building that houses other doctor offices. There was a lot of easy free parking out front. The wait time wasn't insane, but I felt like I waited a bit longer than expected. There were also a lot of patients in the waiting room. I came to this office for a very inflamed cyst. The nurse who took my information was beyond sweet. When Dr. Melson came in, she was straight to the point, but she felt like she had the time of day for me. She was super kind and patient explaining the incision and drainage process to me. I also loved that I didn't feel judged when I needed to call my mom in the middle of the appointment to ask her about a medical history question. When I told her my antibiotic concerns, she worked with me to find the best medication. During the procedure when I asked to pause she was very receptive to this. I am so grateful that she helped.

The doctor was rude and passive, annoyed I couldn't give exact dates when I told him I can barely see the words on my phone but can give him the timeline. His attitude was abrasive and I asked for a female doctor which he snapped there were none just him and to deal with it, then a nurse ripped open the curtain and said "yeah he's the only doctor and he's already entered your room so you've gotta pay him. That's how it works" I will recite this exact review if I get a bill because I am not paying for negative attitude and people who are exasperated by my need for medical attention. I left immediately in tears and told the front desk how horrible the doctor and nurse were.tried to walk home unsuccessfully and people on the street thought I wa drunk and been assaulted from how upset I was on top of having extreme dizziness and nausea like vertigo.
