He was mentally sharp, articulate and ready to pass away , as he had three forms of cancer. The only thing he requested were his pain killers ( which he was never into , even after previous surgery's ) . The only one worth their salt , was the delivery driver. Who was compassion and helpful in explaining how the medical equipment works and dangers of oxygen tanks in confined areas. Do not use these people for hospice, choose a smaller local company. Stay safe and protect your loved ones and your self from unnecessary harm.

He has aortic stenosis and dementia, after a nurse visit, we got a call from the social worker saying that we needed to change someone's behavior that is going through dementia and sometimes says things that are inappropriate. These nurses are supposed to be trained and should not take offense to things that are said and should be able to care for these individuals without forming an opinion or getting butt hurt. I ran two adult family homes, and I've worked with hospice numerous times and never in my life have I ever experienced such lack of empathy towards an individual who is at the end of life and who has dementia. We cannot change his behavior or ask him to do so because he doesn't remember, and if he was in his right mind, he would not be saying things that are inappropriate. These nurses should be able to take things with a grain of salt, do their job, care for individuals in need and not call the family to add more stress stress to situations. I'm in complete disbelief!! if these nurses cannot come in and do their jobs with care and compassion, then they need to find new careers that fit their needs and feelings. What a joke!! be careful before letting these people in your home or around your aging and dying parent

I was extremely disappointed with Providence Sound Homecare services to my dying spouse. They took…read moretwo days to get us a commode, while my dying wife had to make her painful way to the bathroom one step at a time. The nurses were fine but all the staff turned over in the short (10-day) period I was there. The social worker provided almost nothing but one phone number. The chaplain staff were pretty good listeners but it was difficult to get the same one twice to talk to, and they dropped me pretty quick after my wife passed. Worst of all, my wife died on a Saturday morning at 3 AM. I have NEVER YET received a phone call initiated by them checking in on how I am doing, and it's 3 days later. I had to advocate for any kind of help I got, and over the weekend, I was completely abandoned and left to my own devices after my wife's passing. No one seemed to care or be concerned about how I was feeling or what my needs were in the wake of per passing. I still have the equipment they loaned and of course have not received one phone call to let me know when someone's coming to pick it up. I was promised a call from a grief counselor yesterday but so far no call from anyone. Don't use these people. Despite a couple of individuals who rose above, overall they sucked big time. Any other service provider has to be better than this. They failed in every way to provide what was promised. Don't know why they are saying I'm from San Francisco. I live in Olympia, WA

I'm giving Providence one star because a lower rating is not available. Our GP doctor submitted an…read moreurgent Hospice request for my dying wife 2 days ago and, today, the date and time they replied we'd see one of their workers... crickets. Numerous calls to their local Olympia and promised call-backs produced more crickets. After being dropped on hold three times and NEVER getting a promised return call, we tried the alternative local provider who promises a visit in two days... probably too late. My sorrows have turned to fury. Perhaps they deal with death and loss every day, but this is the first time I've ever had to watch my wife and best friend of over 60 years die in her chair. Unsat doesn't do them justice.

Over the years, Andelcare has always been accommodating of our requests and needs, and the service providers are caring and truly helpful. I have personally seen and witnessed caretakers from other companies working with some of my parents neighbors, and I have to say we would only employ Andelcare caretakers!

When the aide arrived and I instructed her on the time and doses, she said she could not administer them, which is one of the main reasons she was hired. The aide was also not able to move my husband on her own, which was the other main reason she was hired. Additionally, when I came to relieve her at the end of her eight hour shift, I found my husband in a urine soaked diaper. The frosting on the cake was when I received a bill for the "services" I received, which was covered by Hospice. It took me talking to three people in order to get to a person who knew what an invoice actually was and to resolve the problem. I would think twice about hiring an aide from this company as the care was seriously lacking and the basic business proclivity left a lot to be desired.
