I would give this place 0 stars I am deeply disappointed by our recent experience at A2 Salon. My son came in for a simple haircut and was subjected to a very hurtful comment made about his appearance -- in Mandarin -- by the hairdresser. While the stylist may have assumed he wouldn't understand, the remark was understood and luckily my son was not hurt by it. When I called the salon to address the issue, the staff member denied it entirely, which made an already upsetting situation even more frustrating. There was no apology, no attempt to make things right, and no acknowledgment of the harm caused. A salon should be a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of background or appearance. Making derogatory comments about a customer -- in any language -- is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I would not recommend this salon and hope management takes customer feedback seriously and holds their staff to a higher standard. read more

the only reason this gets a star at all is because of the lady who washed my hair... she was amazing... for starters not only did the "lady" who appears to be the owner come over to the gentleman who was blow drying my hair and speak their native language and kept saying "no, no.no" with a disgust face, at some point she even took another brush and began to blow dry to the right and pulling my hair. This made me super uncomfortable because when i looked at the guy doing my hair he just had a nervous giggle not once they bother to tell me what was said! not to mention , yes my hair is long no big deal I'm willing to pay the extra money, but at the desk she made me feel even worse when she said "my guy takes 15 min you have very long hair" and charged me $30 okay no big deal.. but with her comment did i pay for the extra time i guess he could have done someone else? But let's be real its pouring and not one person was waiting to be done.. I came in in the pouring rain to find 2 customers.. so why make me feel that way! Why make comments about long hair and not control your facial expression?? You don't understand the history behind me being able to have long hair!!! . I like transparency like any customer would .. i came here because i was recommended but it's awful. i may not understand your native language but the disgust facial expression and the word no while holding a brush over my head is universal. and i cannot understand why a business is like this. by far the worse experience ever! So my sister and I decided to get our hair done on a random Tuesday. I don't normally have a set hair salon I like to try different ones. And I am completely in awe of this place. It really is a hidden gem. There was a bit of miscommunication but both errors were fixed without any hesitation. The place itself is a very clean environment. I had no trouble with parking. My sister had a cut and a blowout done and it's the best I've ever seen her hair is pretty long and thick and she paid 40 dollars which I think is a very pretty decent price. I had highlights done, a trim, and a blowout (best blowout I have received in a very long time) and I paid 220 which I also thought was very decent. Very disappointed with my Color. I stopped by 2weeks ago before getting my hair done with Tina and I showed Tina what I wanted done and she said it is easy. She was very happy with her work,but I wasn't.This is what I wanted. Never again.Very easy for another hairstylist to criticize other's people work,but not theirs. My first time there and never again. She gets a lot of elderly people and hey it's okay because from what I saw they did great blow dry and fast work,but don't go there for a new look wrong salon. I've been to other salons in the area and yikes - who in their right mind pays $35 for a blow out? Crazy girls. Listen, I'm real low maintenance and bounce around "hair" places. Blow outs last me maybe 2-3 days with LOTS of dry shampoo because I'm an oily gal. Hold onto your Washingtons, this place is a serious steal for some no frills mane taming. The first time I was here there was a bit of a wait (no biggie, I didn't make an appointment) All I needed was a trim and walked out with silky hair that was done the way I asked. There's no cucumber water or wine waiting for you here, no fancy mirrors and chandeliers. Just hard working folks that will call you "girl" and "next!". The head lady in charge, Tina is not the most gentle, but she is fast, efficient and skilled at holding TWO hair driers in one hand to finish my blowout quicker. I recently had a curly blow for a wedding and Tina made beautiful flowy hair with just a straightening iron. It looked great for the 3 days that followed. They straightened my daughter's ridiculously thick and curly hair in under 45 minutes. No one has done that before. They got it straighter than straight, if that's even a thing. Lol. Amazing job. Nice and friendly. Great price. There were multiple people coming in and going out super fast while we were there and they all left happy. So I typically don't like giving bad reviews to small businesses, but this place just left a really bad taste in my mouth. I came here for the first time last Saturday because I wanted my hair curled for a wedding that same evening. This salon was recommended to me by my boyfriend's mother, so I figured it had to be decent. I called earlier that day and asked if they were taking any appointments because I needed my hair CURLED, cut, and washed. I was told to come in around 2:30 - 3pm. I arrived at around 2:45pm and stated i needed a wash, cut and style, and was told to take a seat. I waited around until around 3:40pm (55 minutes had gone by at this point), and a client (without an appointment), had just walked in asking if they had any time for a wash and a blowout. They immediately took her over to wash her hair, meanwhile I had already waited 55 minutes with no service. Then, i overheard them asking Coco (younger girl), in Chinese, why she didn't wash my hair first, since I've been waiting for an hour. So then, she called me over to get my hair washed. While she was washing my hair, she asked me what I needed done. Again, I said, "a wash, cut and more importantly, I want my hair CURLED". They washed my hair, sat me down, and had me wait again. I waited patiently, and made no complaints. Then Tina asks me if it's ok for someone else to dry my hair for me, and then Tina herself will cut my hair. I said it was fine. A male stylist came over to dry my hair, while also making it rather straight with the blow dryer and a brush, which I thought was odd since I wanted my hair curled... but I didn't say anything because I thought maybe they blow-dried your hair straight before cutting it. Tina then comes to cut my hair (I only wanted a trim). The trim came out very nice, I didn't ask for my bangs to be angled and she didn't ask if it was ok for her to do it but I didn't care about that because it came out nice. Now the part that irked me the most was that after the haircut, I asked for my hair to be curled (which was the main reason I went to the salon in the first place). And I was told, by Tina, "sorry we can't curl it." ..... what??? You're a hair salon, and you CANT curl my hair...? I asked her why, and explained to her that I had mentioned I wanted my hair curled when I called for an appointment, and even told Coco when she was washing my hair that I specifically wanted my hair CURLED. Then Tina says, "sorry we can't curl your hair now, but your hair looks nice straight like this". I have long straight hair and never need to straighten it, let alone having to go to the salon to pay to get it straightened. I didn't want to make a scene, so all I could say was, that's not what I wanted but if you can't, then ok. I got up to pay, at this point I was furious and just wanted to leave. CoCo was sitting at the counter, not even looking up for 10 minutes to tell me how much I owe. She finally looked up and I paid her, and I asked for change, to which she said that they didn't have any singles, just $5 bills. Meanwhile, they had 3 people work on my hair, so I had to tip them all separately and I didn't want to leave a 50% tip. I left a $10 tip for $30 service, and I told her to split it amongst the 3 ppl once she has change. In reality, I didn't even want to leave any tip. The service was the most horrendous that I have ever received in any hair salon. They do not listen to your requests, and do not accommodate new customers, and do not communicate anything to one another. I walked out 2 hours later feeling disappointed because I had such high hopes for this place. Went home, and spent another hour curling my own hair. What a waste of my time. read more

Asked for a trim and tina cut off 3-3.5 inches of my hair with a BLUNT cut. My hair looks like a child cut it. I was looking to get a half inch to an inch trim. She does not listen to her customers and has gotten extremely rude over the past year as her business has grown. I would not recommend to go to this business. There are plenty of other places just like this that are more understanding of your hair goals and respectful to customers read more

Tina I just saw Katie H review and you did the same thing to me on Friday, August 12th. I have been coming to you for 8 years. I showed you a picture of the cut I wanted and you did what you wanted. I told you a trim and you cut my hair so short. You saw how I upset I was. I kept telling you you went to short and I wanted it layered to on the side and you gave me a blunt bob cut too. I was very disappointed. After you blew out my hair it looked nice but not what I wanted. I still tipped you too. I know it's only hair and it will grow out but I have thin short hair to begin with. It will take a while now to grow out. I am sorry but you really do need to listen to your customers and stop cutting peoples hair the way you want. I hope you take these critiques and learn from it.
