He also teaches Guang Ping Style to a few students. They also have workshops on other arts including baguazhang aka pa-kua chang and t'ai chi weapons on Sundays. All the Classes are on Monday and Wednesdays now. 11:10 AM on M/W is a "Individualized Curriculum" class where every students work on their own and get individualized attention. This is best for the motivated student who is able to practice on their own and not need to follow the leader. Probably the fastest way to really learn the art. Students in this class are working on different things including the Yang style Long form, Guang Ping Form, Baguazhang, and the Partner T'ai Chi Ch'uan form. Small class. Monday Evenings at 7 PM is their weapons and applications class. The name is misleading as the applications are really Self Defense moves out of the T'ai Chi form and what they call Pushing Hands and Sticky Hands Drills. Weapons are taught including walking stick, short stick, broadsword and straight sword. The weapon taught changes by the quarter. Today he was teaching the stick form and partner stick form. First segment of the class are ch'i kung and loosening exercises. Wednesday night he has a semi private Beginners class for 15 minutes, which usually only has one or two students so is the best deal. Then the Beginners are integrated into the continuing/advanced class that meets at 7:15 for group exercise and form. After that each student works on what ever they need to work on. The teacher is Harvey Kurland who has been teaching at UCR since 1989 was brought in by the head of the karate dept due to his great knowledge of the art. Kurland is well known in t'ai chi ch'uan world as expert teacher and international judge, as well as writer on the art. He has had Medical Researchers at Loma Linda University do research on the effects of his curriculum. They found significant improvement in balance in seniors and those with diabetic neuropathy. Kurland has been studying and practicing t'ai chi ch'uan since 1970 and many of the teachers in the Inland Empire are former students of his. Park on the street or in the lot on Canyon Crest. It is a paid lot. Parking is tight. There is another lot two blocks away at the Church on Blaine.

Instead he is teaching what is called the Old Form of Yang Style Symmetrical Form, a much more complex system, that includes a partner application form that is Longer than the Kuang Ping form. He taught both styles when he taught Kuang Ping, but now only teaches the Old Form of Yang Style. Still the best teacher I have found in the Inland Empire, if not Southern California. His students include black belts in Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Jujitsu, so he must know what he is doing.

This school has helped my back immensely in the 3.5 months I've been here!…read moreDuring my forties, I injured my back repeatedly. 3 years ago at the age of 48 I finally had an MRI. I have mild to moderate wedge compressions on 8 vertebrae and 4 disc bulges, one of which became a herniated disc about two years ago. Physical therapy and chiropractors seemed to aggravate the herniated disc. I ended up in severe pain after those sessions with limited mobility for weeks. Additionally, since the herniated disc, I've lost significant muscle mass (especially in my legs as I was no longer able to bend down and had severely limited mobility for months). The herniated disc also caused sciatica, which would cause muscles in my leg or hips to tense up to where I was unable to bend them, numbness in my upper left leg, and occasionally extreme nerve pain in my upper left leg. Enter Balance Martial Arts and Shifu Peter Wu! Although I had hoped that the Tai Chi would help with my posture and provide some improvement, Shifu Peter Wu taught me several Qigong exercises which have had an enormously beneficial effect on me. Years of being in a desk job created a slight, but noticeable hunch in my back. When I was younger (30's), the only way to fix it would be visits to the chiropractor, however the fixes would only last days. After practicing one of Shifu Peter's Qigongs for a few weeks, I was able to resolve that issue for over a month now with occasional practices of the exercise. I was never able to fix that on my own before! Additionally, the standing exercises he has taught me, has helped strengthen my lower back and hip girdle significantly. That coupled with seated Qigong with postural corrections, and some other exercises he taught me, I've eliminated most of the pain in my lower back. The stances from the standing exercises and Tai Chi have additionally started building up my leg strength again. All of this has had a significant increase on my mobility and energy levels. After years of "good and bad days", where good days meant only mild pain, I now see a light at the end of the tunnel! Now my good days mean no pain and I have increased range of motion! This has only been with 3.5 months. I can't wait to see how much better I'll be in another year. Shifu Peter is one of the few people who's had an opportunity to train in Chen Village (the birthplace of Tai Chi), as well as at the Shaolin temple. His teaching style is great, supplying me with new information and refinements in every class, and he is extremely supportive and flexible in showing me exercises to help improve my practice, and to help me along with my back. There's still a long road ahead of me for fixing all of the issues in my back, but I haven't had this much success in any other methodology I've tried, let alone in such a short period of time. I can't give enough accolades to Shifu Peter Wu and the practices that he's taught me!

Because classes never went live in person again I emailed the owner to ask if I could just redeem them online and she said that since it has been over a year the gift certificate was no good. Nowhere on the gift certificate does it say there is an expiration date. That was never told to me when I purchased it either. She was very rude in her emails to me and was not willing to work with me. When I told her I would leave a bad review she then said that I could use the credit online but why would I want to now if I have to see her face & bad energy? Had she have dealt with the situation professionally I would have redeemed them online. This is supposed to be a meditation place seems like someone needs to work on their ego & anger. I'm not "playing the victim" I lost my business too due to COVID , still , that is no way to treat customers. Based on other peoples reviews and her responses to them I see this is just how she is. So praying for you Larrise.

Such a great enlightening experience! First off, the place is welcoming, calm, peaceful and nicely decorated which is already a great first feeling. The class I took is called 'Sound Bath & Overtoning' and was taught by the owner herself, Larise Megerdichian. She was warm and friendly, and started the class with some very interesting and thought-provoking reflections about the mind. We then started to meditate then laid down, and she started the sound vibrations. It was a very unique experience for me especially since I hardly ever stop thinking, but this forced me to calm my mind and my thoughts and experience nothingness. At some points the vibrations were so loud and strong, it was almost unbearable, but in the end, I felt more calm and relaxed, and somehow more peaceful. Bindupoint has very unique classes about mindfulness and healing. It's not your average-Joe yoga studio, it's more like an experience. Give it a try, it's worth it and beneficial.

I've never done classes like these at a resort so didn't really know what to expect. Needless to say, I was very happy and got up every single day to attend class because I enjoyed it so much! Each class is unique: "White Tiger Yoga & Tai Chi" was a fabulous introduction to some basic yoga and tai chi moves, blended together for a wonderful morning wake-up your body, get the blood flowing, stretch and relax kind of feeling. Not easy to accomplish at 8am while vacationing, but the class was perfect and well-suited for beginners and those with a little experience as well. I also took the "Healthy Lower Back Secrets" and "Healthy Shoulder & Rotator Cuff Secrets" classes. Wow...some very simple moves that really showed me how to strengthen as well as stretch out those areas. Good stuff! Finally, I took the "Healthy Weight Loss, Leg, Stomach & Butt Toning Secrets" class. Again, easy moves that most can accomplish, but I was amazed the next day when I realized I'd actually had a nice workout! Additionally, they offer Water Fitness workouts each day but I didn't participate in those. And, they do offer personal training sessions that you can book for an extra fee. The instructors were Austin and Brett, to whom I'd like to say THANK YOU for helping me stay in shape while on vacation. I will definitely be taking your classes again next year when I return. By the way...they offer an unlimited access pass to all of their classes for the week for $99. I took 8 or 9 classes, which at the individual rate would have cost me over $200! And, because I bought the pass at the Monday morning welcome reception to the resort, I got the pass for $77. Totally great deal! They also offer for sale their DVD series. I decided to purchase it because I liked the moves they taught and can see how this is something I would like to add to my daily routine at home. No way could I remember it all without the DVD's. I haven't watched them yet, but I'm assuming they will be of the same fine quality with which they teach their classes.

She is also a veteran and was a pushing hands champion before she retired from competition. The teacher of the continuing classes is a Master Level teacher who has been studying and practicing t'ai chi ch'uan since 1970. There are several levels of students. Beginners work together. First part of the class are warmup exercises and ch'i kung (qigong) exercises. They are used for flexibility and range of motion as well as traditional health exercises were done. The curriculum is the same as was taught at Loma Linda University Drayson Center in past years. This curriculum was studied by researchers at Loma Linda University and found to significantly improve the balance of seniors and Diabetic patients with Neuropathy. Beginners work together and do basic drills that help their balance as well as learn the first form. The teacher keeps reminding students not to do anything that hurts. Continuing students work in groups and study more advanced forms. The class is one hour. At 7:15 there is an T'a-chi ch'uan Application and Pushing Hands class. That class taught the meaning of the movements in the form. The teacher was adamant that students need to understand what each movement means in order to do it properly. He also teaches pushing hands and sticky hands drills in this class. Small class with mainly advanced students. Low intensity, no falling as most of the people in the class are Seniors.
