I spent a lot of time researching Krav Maga, because it was recommended to me from a retired Lt. Col. marine that I took several knife and flashlight defense classes from. He told me after the completion of his last defensive knife class that if I wanted to go any further with personal defense that I should take some kind of a martial art. I always wanted to know a martial art so I asked him what he would recommend to a fifty year old? He said probably Krav Maga. I was impressed by this because he had been a college wrestler, and held several black belts in other forms of martial arts. I asked him why Krav Maga especially when he had trained in other forms. He said because they don't waste a lot of time with ceremony. I asked him what he meant by that. He said you won't spend the first month learning how to tie your belt. I was glad to hear him recommend Krav Maga, because I knew a few people who were already doing that training, but at that time I didn't know a lot about it. Approximately a year later my son said I want to learn a martial art. I told him I did too, and knew exactly which one. He said sign us up, but it took me about another year before we got started. The only thing I regret about Krav Maga is that I waited two years after the original recommendation. My son and I love it, and my youngest daughter is starting soon. The staff at West Coast Krav Maga is another story. They make you feel very comfortable right form the beginning. The other amazing thing is the other students do as well. You know how you feel when you try something new, nervous and apprehensive which is normal. You feel like part of a family right from the beginning. And you start to learn how to defend your self within 15 minutes into the first class. It doesn't matter if you're 6 or 60, male or female, in or out of shape (BTW you will get in better shape) this works. For quite some time now, I have been contemplating signing up for a self-defense class, however; had not found one that truly fit and accepted all levels of experience. My son, who is 13, asked to enroll at West Coast Krav Maga at 11. He wasn't being bullied at school, didn't need more self confidence & wasn't having behavior issues. He chose to take a different path & not do a main stream sport. It was the best decision we ever made! He has grown & matured so much in the past 2 yrs & our Krav Maga family has played a big part in that. He recently moved up from the kids program which is a fun, energetic program, to the adult black belt program where he is probably the youngest but is treated as an equal & with respect. West Coast Krav Maga is more than just a martial arts studio, it's a family. All instructors and staff make you feel welcome and you do get a feeling that they genuinely care about you as an individual. My husband and I have been members for three years now and we absolutely love it! Krav Maga is not about endless bowing and competitions, it is about learning actual skills that can save your life. I have tried other martial arts studios and they don't even come close to the skills that I learned here. The fact that I know how to not freeze up and defend myself and my family is a very comforting feeling, even if I will never have to use my skills. From 1st day staff and students have treated our family as their family. My daughter began in youth level 5 years ago and is now training at adult level getting ready to test for black belt. Within first 6 months she lost 40 lbs feels confident and determined to persevere regardless how difficult things are Best part of this school is it emphasizes the importance of character..to be compassionate respectful human beings is just as important if not more important than learning self defense. My daughter has always been good student but since starting at age 11 she has received straight A report cards every semester for past 5 years takes AP classes will be a senior this year already being approached by universities to attend their schools the latest one being Stanford University . West Coast Krav Maga has been a great help to my daughter who is 9 years old. She was bullied at 1st and 2nd grade and now at 4th grade she has gained confidence. She has changed into a confident young lady thanks to West Coast Krav Maga . Mister Chris , Ms Amanda and Mister Eric are awesome instructors. The structure is fun and very interactive. She has so much fun and learns about discipline which she practices at home and at school. Although at times it gets challenging physically, they introduce new skills and follow through with ongoing activities to ensure that they understand the concept. My daughter has been taking classes here for just over 2 years. She started in the Little Dragons and now is in the Basic class. She loves class and it is definitely is helping. Her natural temperment is more sensitive and shy and she has no trouble participating and I believe this has and will continue to grow her confidence and allow her the confidence to stand up for herself in whatever life may throw at her. My daughter loves WCKM so much she wanted her 5th birthday party here, and had a blast as did all her friends. The instuctors and the program has managed to keep her attention and interest over other activities. West Coast Krav Maga is a martial arts academy that teaches practical self defense techniques, discipline, and leadership qualities. Every class begins with a physical warm-up routine and a "Mat Chat" where the students learn character building and life skills. The instructors at WCKM teach to the students level in order to get an understanding of why they would need to use a specific technique in any situation. My son has been a student at the Murrieta location for almost two years and thanks to Mr. Jared and Mr. Ernesto his confidence level has grown tremendously. I spent some time doing research to find the right place to train Krav Maga. I have trained is several disciplines and wanted to round out my skill sets. I found that consistently one school, West Coast krav Maga quickly rose to the top of my list. I signed up and started training with them. The school is focused on being a krav gym primary and has other programs to build your endurance up so you get better a t krav faster. I have been doing self defense and kickboxing for years now. After a horrible accident I finally got back into it after years. I have been to so many places and finally I found one. Before I started not too long ago they were all so nice and accommodating. The instructors are amazing. I love the fact that they know what they are doing. They are actually trained. You don't want to take boxing lessons from someone that has not idea about self defense or boxing for that matter. I love that they incorporate an entire body work along with self defense. I've been coming to West Coast Krav Maga for about a year and a half now; with that being said the thing that keeps me coming is the instructors. They are very knowledgeable and very personable it's like family. They also don't hesitate to go out of their way if you need extra help. West Coast Krav Mega in Murrieta has been a great place for my son to learn self defense. I wasn't sure of it at first do to my boxing background and not knowing much about Krav Mega but the Instructors have been more then I could have wanted. I became a WCKM Murrieta member/student 3 years ago. I have learned valuable self defense techniques and skills that have prepared me to defend myself in a wide range of situations.. Additionally I have improved my fitness, coordination, balance, range of motion, and importantly self confidence. My son has been going to West Coast Krav Maga since he was 5. He will be turning 8 in a couple of months. The instructors and staff are GREAT! They are very nice, patient, encouraging and great with all of the kids as well as the parents. I love that my son is learning self defense at such a young age. Being an ex-motocross racer with a long list of injuries, I've been skeptical on whether or not I could handle any kind of self defense classes. This Krav family has taken that doubt away 100%!! The instructors are very personable, very understanding and they always find a way to show me some alteration to work around my injuries.
