Very clean and normal toilet paper. ( not tissue paper). They even had a toddler toilet in the ladies room !!! Way to go thinking of the little ones!!! Definitely a good place. To stop - stretch your legs and use the facilities.

Clean & perfect for families to stop & use the restroom. It was the perfect spot to stop during our road trip from VA to NJ. The LOVE sign was so cute but it was too cold to stop for a photo. There are vending machines for drinks but I didn't notice any food. There were plenty of brochures for checking out the nearby states.

this Ladysmith Rest Area is located on Interstate 95 North at mile marker 108. There is another Ladysmith rest area across the highway on Interstate 95 South. I appreciate this rest area providing a convenient place to stop while travelling through the area. Restrooms are large and spacious and usually clean and properly stocked but during busy times things can get a little messy. In addition to restrooms there are vending machines and a welcome center in the building. The welcome center is staffed during regular business hours. Outside there is plenty of parking available and plenty of green space for you to stretch your legs. There is also a pet rest area. Trash receptacles are offered and recycling is encouraged with separate bins for paper, plastic and aluminum.

The nicest Virginia rest stop when traveling northbound on I-95 There is 1 Welcome Center and 4 Safety Rest areas along the northbound lanes of I-95. This particular rest stop is at mile marker 107 northbound. It is a right-hand exit off the interstate. The car parking lot is closest to the road, namely and left after you exit. The trucks should follow the road to the right after the exit. They have an extra lot for additional parking. There are plenty of car and truck spots. The area is a single-story brick building in the portion of land between the two lots with some trees and 5-foot high letters spelling Love that is great for pictures. The outside area was well-maintained and clean. According to their website, they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to all vehicles. There is a large atrium inside the building with a beautiful terrazzo floor that has a compass rose set into it. There are vending machines to the side and restrooms on either side of the center. The restrooms were clean and modern. The location also has a welcome center that is open during normal business hours with brochures and information on all the state's many areas. Overall, a very nice place to stop for a break, rest, or stretch your legs as you travel north on I-95.

The rest stop is clean. And that's what matters most. There are vending machines if you need anything. The sun was shining, the grass was green and all was ok!

Update from my previous review. This place is always clean and the vending machines are always working. I still have a complaint with the large spaces in the stalls to be able to see a person sitting on the sh*tter. But I won't take that away from this location since it seems to be a nationwide problem, honestly. They also have a Welcome Center with employees there to assist you during business hours Mon-Friday.

Not only are there restrooms for men and women, look at the family restroom and indoor vending area. Nicely maintained and clean

Perfect rest area for someone who needs to take a pit stop. Yeah we are heading north so it could be my bladder causing this stop; it's right off the highway, clean, modern, has trash and recycling, vending machines, place to stretch your legs.

One of the cool things about driving through the East Coast is that the rest areas can be tourist attractions in and of themselves. Compared to CA where I'd rather stop at a supercharging station (because most of them are super sketchy), the East Coast rest areas are accessible, clean and very friendly! - Location: Interstate 95 North at mile marker 108 - Welcome Center open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. - EV charging stations Virginia's famous tourism slogan is "Virginia is for Lovers", which has become one of the most famous ad campaigns in the last 50 years. There's a "LOVE" sign in front of the building and a sign inside the Welcome Center should you wish to take a pic for the 'gram. Since one of my goals is to take a picture next to a "Welcome to [state]" signs for all 50 states you bet I did this! The Welcome Center also has tons of information on what to do in the state. I got various pamphlets on the various natural and cultural sights of interest. The ladies at the desk were also super knowledgable AND friendly to boot. There's a good amount of stalls in the restrooms themselves but most importantly they look to be well-maintained. There are also vending machines that take cash and most importantly contactless (ie Apple Pay). I don't think you would see this in CA...

Review #238 - 2019 Who takes the time to write a review for a rest area? I guess people like me who come from California, where all the rest areas look super sketchy & run down & we'd never make a stop after sundown unless there were 3 or more of us going in together to protect each other. This rest area is more like an upscale hotel lobby restroom for us Californians. You'd never find one this clean within a 600 mile radius in our area! There's a vending machine, information desk/gift shop and clean grass area for people with kids or pets to let them down & stretch their little legs so they won't annoy you for another 3 hours while you continue driving to your final destination. The only thing that kind of bothered me is that they changed the LOVE sign out front so I'm curious to know if someone destroyed the old one or if it just got moved to another location?

The "LOVE" sign in this rest area.

Overall, this is a decent rest area. It is fairly clean and the quality is great (especially being able to walk and seeing the love sign). The atmosphere is great with fresh air and the location is accessible to everyone. tl;dr: I would recommend stopping by here if you need to take a rest, especially with the great atmosphere!

They recently redid this rest area. Tore down the old Virginia style separate bathroom and vending buildings and put up a single building. Many more vending machine choices than before, bathrooms larger and more efficiently designed. Has some inside seating along with a outside picnic tables. Everything is well lit, state troopers stop in regularly. There is a Virginia Welcome Center inside (open from 8:30am - 5:00pm daily) with travel info, maps, brochures, etc. This is the last rest area before you head into the traffic nightmare that is the Fredericksburg - DC stretch of Interstate 95. Use the opportunity to use the bathroom and grab some snacks and stuff to drink. You'll most likely be sitting in traffic for a while in Northern Virginia. Unwind at this oasis before heading into the maw.

9/4/20 On the way to the beach or on the way back home, this…read morerest stop is one of many we went to.   The rest stops have gotten cleaner than they have in the past. This statement is up for debate based on one's own experiences, but from what I remember,  sitting on the toilets wasn't a thing you wanted to do. In my case the bathroom  was nearly spotless.  There was still urine on the floor by some urinals,  but a morjority for the urinals were good. Why, because of the target mats in the urinals. As a male we pride ourselves hitting targets at a great distance,  but can't seem to hot a target a few inches in front of us....unless some of us are deliberately aiming for the floor. Anyhow, these floor mats are designed for three reasons I can think of. 1. Odor Protection and Order Control:   The smell of "Urine may smell like ammonia when it becomes concentrated with waste products. A variety of conditions can cause waste products to build up in urine, such as bladder stones, dehydration, and urinary tract infections. In most cases, urine that smells like ammonia can be treated with fluids or antibiotic medications. "https://www.healthline.com/health/urine-smells-like-ammonia#bottom-line The protection part is so your nose and tastebuds are not highly offended by the obnoxious/horrid  stink urine can provide a wide open space or in the narrow corridors of a bathroom. 2. Targeting: Since the janitor/cleaner of the bath area has experienced the small to large amounts of urine on the ground, these newer models of splash guard mats have worked wonders.  The holes in these mats act as targets so males will know where to aim. Granted there were the sides of the inner walls to the urinals to aim for, but there is a problem with that.  I will get to that later on.  With these mats in place, the smell if urine can't not offend the nose or tastebuds of the person draining the lizard...unless the mats need to be replaced.   Indeed these targets will block pee from firing back at the shooter...how you ask?...well this leads to number #3 3. Splash Guard Protection: This is the most important aspect of the piss on mats. The target holes and little plastic bristles act as splash guards and stop the pee from splashing back on one's own privates, but most importantly one's own pants.  That's right, little microscope droplets of pee flying back onto your pants...but what it gets worse.  If you don't have these splash guards, the pee droplets can be bigger. The term "you can't take it with" does not apply if you do not have a splash guard mat.  Not even aiming for the insides of the walls will keep you 100% safe.  Don't aim for the wall in front of you unless there is a slash guard mat there. Otherwise you get the tiny golden rain drops backatcha and comingatcha.  So if your going for the wiggle, shaking and dancing, the last few drops are going to stay/stain your pants, unless you grab a tissue ( or paper towel) say bless you. The toilet  area was clean from what I saw. No worries about what Eddie Kaye Thomas aka Shitbreak had to go through.   The lobby area was immaculately clean and most people were in and out of that place, but all were wearing masks because of The Coronavirus Outbreak.    The snake machine was fully stock, but we did not get any food from the machine this time. Mainly, because the food was not what my wife wanted. Upon leaving this rest stop, I remember how I use to take my dog out here so she could handle her business and stretch her legs. She was the family's dog, but some how became my dog. She made the trip to Geneva Switzerland,  but never made it back to the United States.  I still miss my Lady Fox.   Anyhow, there are two other stops I normally would make and they are Waffle Houses, but our last experience with them was good and bad.     Still this rest stop served its purpose even though the customer service section was closed. We will return at some point. Whenever that is.
