It was well-kept and clean! Great place to stretch the legs, let the dog get some sniffs and take a potty break. The restrooms even had toddler size toilets and sinks! My daughter loved it. They had water bottle refill stations which was a bonus. read more

This is a perfectly decent rest stop along 95N just about 30 minutes north of the city of Richmond. I have stopped numerous times, and my experience has been consistently positive. It's easy to get in and out, no lines, clean enough bathrooms, and some vending machines. There's ample space outside to walk around as well. read more

Went here on Tuesday November 25th 2025 with my parents. We stopped here to rest and eventually used the restrooms. We were traveling to NY for thanksgiving. After we rested in the car, we used the restrooms. The place where the restrooms were, was easy to walk to- and the restrooms were clean. Also loved the toddlers toilet in the womens room. Even short people can use that if they wanted to. restrooms were clean, and it was easy getting back on to I-95 North. read more

In a town called Ladysmith, County of Fredericksburg, Town of Caroline - Residency Bowling Green - at the 107 mile marker - we needed to rest. My eyes were getting heavy because we drove most of the night and day. I had to get the dogs out, throw some cold water on my face and wash my hands - I wasn't sure if I'd spend the night. That's how it goes for me in these long drives, pull over when tired and lay down in the back in my custom bed and see where things go from there. Sometimes I stop for attractions and dining but the escape from NY was burning inside. If I didn't have property, I probably couldn't have dogs in New York - but it's not enough - I need acres of meadows and streams - no mountains here in FL which sux big time, but they make up for it with water and wildlife - a life without dogs isn't for me, that's just not a life I'm interested in. Speaking of which, Ladysmith has only one area for dogs, as I recall it was a bit of an aggressive sign - so much for the Southern hospitality I have grown to know and love, perhaps I read it wrong or I'm too sensitive, I don't know. The rest area is an expansive parcel of land - I'd have extended the boarders for pets. They show signs of a Six Year Improvement Program but I asked a staffer who couldn't tell me anything about it and that was unfortunate. There were under 40 parking spaces, typically crappy vending machines so there's nothing much here that deserves so much attention and many stars. read more

Clean & perfect for families to stop & use the restroom. It was the perfect spot to stop during our road trip from VA to NJ. The LOVE sign was so cute but it was too cold to stop for a photo. There are vending machines for drinks but I didn't notice any food. There were plenty of brochures for checking out the nearby states. read more

this Ladysmith Rest Area is located on Interstate 95 North at mile marker 108. There is another Ladysmith rest area across the highway on Interstate 95 South. I appreciate this rest area providing a convenient place to stop while travelling through the area. Restrooms are large and spacious and usually clean and properly stocked but during busy times things can get a little messy. In addition to restrooms there are vending machines and a welcome center in the building. The welcome center is staffed during regular business hours. Outside there is plenty of parking available and plenty of green space for you to stretch your legs. There is also a pet rest area. Trash receptacles are offered and recycling is encouraged with separate bins for paper, plastic and aluminum. read more

The nicest Virginia rest stop when traveling northbound on I-95 There is 1 Welcome Center and 4 Safety Rest areas along the northbound lanes of I-95. This particular rest stop is at mile marker 107 northbound. It is a right-hand exit off the interstate. The car parking lot is closest to the road, namely and left after you exit. The trucks should follow the road to the right after the exit. They have an extra lot for additional parking. There are plenty of car and truck spots. The area is a single-story brick building in the portion of land between the two lots with some trees and 5-foot high letters spelling Love that is great for pictures. The outside area was well-maintained and clean. According to their website, they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to all vehicles. There is a large atrium inside the building with a beautiful terrazzo floor that has a compass rose set into it. There are vending machines to the side and restrooms on either side of the center. The restrooms were clean and modern. The location also has a welcome center that is open during normal business hours with brochures and information on all the state's many areas. Overall, a very nice place to stop for a break, rest, or stretch your legs as you travel north on I-95. read more

I stopped in to stretch my legs after a long day on the road. The restrooms could've been cleaner, but the touchless sink actually worked and there is a large area of grass for my dog to do her business, so it satisfied all my needs for a rest stop. read more

Update from my previous review. This place is always clean and the vending machines are always working. I still have a complaint with the large spaces in the stalls to be able to see a person sitting on the sh*tter. But I won't take that away from this location since it seems to be a nationwide problem, honestly. This is the 2nd Virginia rest area we visited since entering the state and it's just as exceptional. There are enough parking spaces but not sure how it would hold during peak hours or busier travel days. You got outdoor seating and tables if you'd fancy a picnic. There is even the LOVE sign perfect for photo-ops. Restrooms, vending machines wants their Welcome Center is located inside their well-lit, air-conditioned building. It is meticulously clean throughout, even the restrooms. I like that they have a toddler sized toilet and an ambulatory stall with handrails for support. One thing I really like and appreciate it's that they have a Starbucks vending machine, something I haven't seen in any rest area. Overall, great place to take a break and stretch your muscles. One of the cool things about driving through the East Coast is that the rest areas can be tourist attractions in and of themselves. Compared to CA where I'd rather stop at a supercharging station (because most of them are super sketchy), the East Coast rest areas are accessible, clean and very friendly! - Location: Interstate 95 North at mile marker 108 - Welcome Center open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. - EV charging stations Virginia's famous tourism slogan is "Virginia is for Lovers", which has become one of the most famous ad campaigns in the last 50 years. There's a "LOVE" sign in front of the building and a sign inside the Welcome Center should you wish to take a pic for the 'gram. Since one of my goals is to take a picture next to a "Welcome to [state]" signs for all 50 states you bet I did this! The Welcome Center also has tons of information on what to do in the state. I got various pamphlets on the various natural and cultural sights of interest. The ladies at the desk were also super knowledgable AND friendly to boot. There's a good amount of stalls in the restrooms themselves but most importantly they look to be well-maintained. There are also vending machines that take cash and most importantly contactless (ie Apple Pay). I don't think you would see this in CA... read more

I guess people like me who come from California, where all the rest areas look super sketchy & run down & we'd never make a stop after sundown unless there were 3 or more of us going in together to protect each other. This rest area is more like an upscale hotel lobby restroom for us Californians. You'd never find one this clean within a 600 mile radius in our area! There's a vending machine, information desk/gift shop and clean grass area for people with kids or pets to let them down & stretch their little legs so they won't annoy you for another 3 hours while you continue driving to your final destination. The only thing that kind of bothered me is that they changed the LOVE sign out front so I'm curious to know if someone destroyed the old one or if it just got moved to another location? read more

Overall, this is a decent rest area. It is fairly clean and the quality is great (especially being able to walk and seeing the love sign). They recently redid this rest area. Tore down the old Virginia style separate bathroom and vending buildings and put up a single building. Many more vending machine choices than before, bathrooms larger and more efficiently designed. Has some inside seating along with a outside picnic tables. Everything is well lit, state troopers stop in regularly. There is a Virginia Welcome Center inside (open from 8:30am - 5:00pm daily) with travel info, maps, brochures, etc. This is the last rest area before you head into the traffic nightmare that is the Fredericksburg - DC stretch of Interstate 95. Use the opportunity to use the bathroom and grab some snacks and stuff to drink. You'll most likely be sitting in traffic for a while in Northern Virginia. Unwind at this oasis before heading into the maw. read more

We stopped 8/20/2023 and it was FILTHY!! I have never seen a rest stop anywhere near this nasty. The ladies restroom floor was COVERED in toilet paper and unsanitary items. the toilets had not been flushed and the sinks were nasty, too. The parking lot was covered in trash. We stopped here on September 3rd while heading to Richmond. The outside (Parking lot, trash bins, benches, and grassy area.) was well kept. I thought it was neat that they had a toddler toilet (In the women's restroom. Not sure if the men's restroom has one.) since I have a toddler. The vending area was very clean! Several of the machines were out of order, but it's alright. There's plenty more machines to choose snacks from. read more

Rest stop is nice but the janitor lady was extremely rude while me and my son were trying to get the vending machine to work, my 4 year old son had his hands on the glass of the matching because he was excited for his favorite chips. The lady came out and was very rude about the way she told him to take his hands off of the glass and as she walked away talking under breath.
